Kiara's POV

JJ and I got into an argument, we always do but this time it was a strong one. I don't even know why but he got jealous over some Kook who was staring at me and I kind of provoke JJ with him. He's my best friend and nothing ever happened between us but our relationship has always been like this, flirting, fighting, being so close that people think we're in a relationship but we're not.

I've always had a thing for JJ. Not just a thing, I was in love with him, since forever. I decided a long time ago, that I wouldn't do a thing about it because JJ wasn't the relationship type, he was more into hookups. It would break me being only another one of his conquest.

However, I always felt special to him. He's just different with me.

Today is my birthday and he didn't came to the party. That's my fault, after our fight I told him to get lost, that I didn't want him to come anymore. Big mistake. It was the most awful birthday party I've ever had since I was missing something. Him.

It was 2 a.m and the party just ended, everyone was gone and I was alone and sad. I was about to get myself prepared to go to bed when I saw a photo of my 9th birthday in my room.

*8 years ago*

"Happy birthday Kie."

"Thank you JJ." I replied shyly.

JJ was looking for something in his pocket and he handed me a little box.

"It's for you. I kinda made it so it's not very good but I thought it would look nice on you."

I opened the box and a hand-made necklace was in there. It was simply a fishing line holding the most beautiful shell I've ever seen.

"I love it, Jayj!" I jumped into his arms placing a small kiss on his cheek and he blushed.

*present time*

I don't even know where this necklace is anymore, but that was the best gift I've had this day.

I tried to fall asleep to forget how much I missed my best friend but in vain. A few minutes later, the bell rang and I jumped. I wasn't expecting anyone anymore.

I opened the door without even paying attention to the person behind it.

"Hi." his voice did like an echo in my head and I finally looked at who was in front of me.

"JJ?" I closed the door behind me and he followed me to sit on the stairs outside.

"I'm sorry." he looked at me deeply. "I know you said you didn't want to see me but I couldn't not wish you a happy birthday."

"I missed you, it wasn't the same without you tonight." I replied almost whispering.

He smiled and took my hand.

"I don't want to fight with you like this ever again, Jayj." I held his hand tighter.

"Me neither." he nodded.

After a few seconds, he smiled and handed me a little box. "For you."

I opened it and oh my god.

"Is that-" I didn't expected this. A beautiful necklace, just like the one he made me 8 years ago, with an even prettier seashell.

"Yeah. Well not the exact same one but I made another, way more sophisticated." he let out a smirk. "Just don't lose him this time."

"I won't." I smiled. "Thank you JJ. Really."

"Turn around." he took the necklace from my hands gently and I held my hair to clear my neck.

He slowly tied the necklace around my neck and placed a small kiss on one of my shoulder when he's finished. I turned so I could face him. I could feel his breath on my face and it's only when I saw him looking at my lips that I realized how close our faces were.

I closed the space between us. His lips were so soft and sweet. It was a passionate kiss, almost desperate. It felt like my lips were right where they were meant to be. I've waited for so long to finally be able to do this. And he was kissing me back, putting one of his hands on my cheek, he deepened the kiss.

After a while, JJ pulled away, our lips were lingering for a moment. He looked into my eyes, a soft smile playing on his lips. "Kie..I..I love you."

"I love you too, Jayj." Without hesitation I replied.

This turned out to be the best birthday of my life.
