Pope came back inside after a minute and sat back down in the living room to talk. Kie, however,  was already in a bad mood since he yelled and stormed off.

"I just don't understand why you guys would do that" pope complained

"Yea no cuz we totally planned it" Kie said sarcastically and rolled her eyes

"I mean, how could you let this happen" pope corrected himself.

"Look! We don't even know if anything actually happened yet!" Kie yelled, annoyed with him.

"But it might!" Pope yelled back "you guys were careless enough to where it MIGHT happen"

Kie scoffed

"Irresponsible" pope mumbled

"Where is he" Sarah said impatiently after a moment of silence, looking at the time

Everyone was simply sitting around and waiting for JJ to get back so that they could just know already. It was eating Kie up inside, not knowing.

They sat around in the living room for what felt like hours. Pope occasionally starting an argument with her but she'd quickly shut him down.

"Again, I don't see how you guys could let this happen" pope said, putting his arms on his knees and buried his face in his hands.

"Oh my god" Kie rolled her eyes to Sarah at the reoccurring statement.

That's when JJ finally opened the door and walked in.

"Finally!" Kie said, jumping up from the couch as JJ rushed in, pushing the door shut behind him.

"There you are" Sarah said doing the same

"There's father of the year" pope mumbled

JJ just looked at him. His eyebrows pinched as he gave pope a glance. He ignored him and rushed to the table setting his bags down.

"What is all this stuff?" Sarah asked, looking at the snacks and tampons

"You don't wanna know" JJ said, hastily going through the bags to find the tests.

John b and Sarah looked at each other confused for a moment but then went back to looking at the bags.

"Here" JJ said, grabbing a test "oh wait, Kie which one is the right one" he said, opening the bag and letting her look inside.

"Why did you get so many" Kie asked, looking in

"Because I want to be sure" he replied, dumping the tests onto the table.

"Uhmm" Kie said, studying the different tests "let's do this one. It's simple. No lines just right to the point. Pregnant or not pregnant."

"Alright perfect works for me" JJ said quickly as he grabbed the box.

"This can't be real" pope mumbled and JJ turned his head and looked at him, giving him almost an annoyed look. He didn't know what his problem was.

He tuned back around and started opening the test

"Wait so how do these even work" John b asked, reading one of the boxes

"She's supposed to like, pee on the little stick thing, and then I guess it just- reads her.. pregnant levels or something I dunno " JJ said

"Pregnant levels" pope laughed passive aggressively

JJ ignored him this time

"It detects a certain hormone" Sarah corrected

"Right- that" JJ said. He looked over at Kie "you ready" he asked

"No?" She said but was ready as she'd ever be

"None of y'all are ready" pope said from the chair

JJ turned his whole body around, a little mad.

"Ignore him" Kie said, pulling his arm to try to get him to turn back around.

He looked at Kie and then turned around trying not to get mad. His emotions were all over the place right now.

"Alright" JJ said, ignoring pope "here.." he said hesitantly handing her the test.

"Kie, since your taking several tests you should probably pee in a cup and not just on the stick" Sarah said, handing her a plastic cup

Kie sighed "this is humiliating"

"It's fine" JJ reassured softly

"Here goes nothing" she said, taking it and going to the bathroom.

JJ took a deep breath once she closed the door.

"JJ" John b Said, realizing that his best friends life might change forever in a few minutes "what are you gonna do if she's pregnant?"

"I... really don't know" he said, leaning his hands on the table, zoning out as he thought

"Shoulda thought about that" pope mumbled

JJ looked up at John b with a 'what tf is his problem' look as he tried to ignore him.

John b shrugged, also annoyed with the way pope was acting.

"You guys will figure it out" Sarah said, hopefully

"Her dad is absolutely going to kill me" JJ said again. "I mean- y'all think he hated me before, just wait till he finds out about this"

"But- she might not even be pregnant" John b said, trying to make him feel better.

"she probably is" JJ admitted, finally facing reality.

"Happy thoughts JJ, happy thoughts" Sarah reminded him but it wasn't funny to him anymore. He was so stressed. He was sick to his stomach just thinking about it.

Kie walked out of the bathroom with the test.

JJ quickly stood up straight and walked down the hallway to meet her. He guided her into the guest bedroom and he shut the door behind them.

"Okay" JJ said as Kie set the test face down on the dresser. "How long does it take?"

"Like 2 minutes" Kie said, sitting down on the side of the bed.

He moved over and sat next to her as she set a timer on her phone.

"Kie, it might come back positive" JJ said after a moment of silence

"I know.." she admitted

"What are we gonna do" he asked

"Will you be mad?" Kie asked, a little nervous

"At you? No, why would I be mad" JJ asked, confused "I mean, I won't exactly be thrilled, but neither will you. This is going to change everything for all of us."

"I mean like... if I am pregnant.. what are you going to do" she said, tearing up a little "because I understand if you don't want to be a part-"

"Woah- Kie" he cut her off "I'm not gonna- Kie if your pregnant then im a dad- like I'm not leaving your side. Ever."

He looked at her trying to see if she understood

"We're in this together. It's OUR kid, I'd WANT to be there." He looked at her "pregnant or not, I'm always gonna be here. Okay? Promise."

"Thank you" she smiled and looked up at him with tears in her eyes.

"Your dad might hate me again- no he'll definitely hate me again" JJ said "but I'll never stop trying, I promise. It will be okay"

The timer went off and JJ and kie both looked at each other and sat up. This was it. This was the moment they had been waiting for.

"You ready?" He asked, his voice just a little shaky.

She nodded her head.

He took and deep breath and reach his hand over to the test.

"Wait!" Kie said before he could flip it over "the second you turn that around and read it, our lives change forever"

JJ looked at her

"Can we just- I just want to stay in this bubble of denial for a little bit longer." Kie said and JJ took
His hand off the test. "I just want to talk about it BEFORE we know if it's true or not"

JJ smiled, agreeing a little.

"Okay" he said softly smiling. "So if it's positive.. we'd have to tell your parents"

"Yea.." Kie said, dreading it

"And then, they'd probably help us figure out the rest" JJ said

"What about your dad?" Kie asked

"I really don't give a shit about him." JJ admitted "he doesn't deserve to know"

"Okay" Kie said "I really don't want to tell my parents"

"Yea me either, but we'd have to" JJ said "they'd find out eventually"

"What would we do about school" she asked

"We'd keep going? I guess" JJ thought "until you got closer to having it, and then.. well I guess people would know by then and I'm sure the school would excuse you for a couple of days"

"But then what after that" Kie asked

"Then.. I dunno I'd probably drop out once the kids born" JJ admitted

"No- your not dropping out" Kie stopped him

"It's not like I pay attention to anything in class anyways" JJ said "I won't be missing anything"

"No JJ, your graduating highschool." Kie said

"We'll see" he said "all I'm saying is if I need to, I will"

"I'd probably not go to college then" Kie said

"Noo, see your definitely going to college Kie" JJ said "that's something you've always wanted to do. You've been talking about it ever since middle school. You're going to college"

"How would I go if we have a kid?" Kie asked, not seeing any other way

"You can't have a baby in a dorm?" He asked

"...no" she said

"Well, if you think about it.. the kid would be like almost 2 by then. I could watch it while your gone" JJ suggested

"I'll just do online, how bout that?" Kie said

"No, you've always wanted to GO to a college Kie" JJ said

"Okay well we're all going to have to make sacrifices if I am pregnant" she added

"I can make it work" JJ said, determined "we can figure that part out when we get there, okay?"

"Okay" she said, giving up.

"Are you ready" JJ asked again softly

"Ready as I'll ever be" Kie sighed as JJ reached for the test again.

"Hey" he said befroe he turned it over "it'll be okay" he smiled.

Kie smiled and JJ grabbed the test. He held it to where they could both see. He took a deep breath and slowly turned it around.

They starred at the test for a minute. Their hearts sunk to their stomach.

"shit-" JJ whispered, slowly closing his eyes.
