The next morning they went over to kies house to get JJs bags. Kie and her parents had already finished unpacking by the time he got there.

Mike let them all inside and Sarah instantly went up to Kies room to talk.

"Kie!!" Sarah said, running into her room

"OMG" Kie yelled, getting up and hugging Sarah "what are you doing here?!"

"John b drove us over here so JJ could get his stuff, but there outside helping your dad with something" Sarah explained, excitedly

"I missed you so much!!" Kie said, hugging her again

"Okay- you have to tell me EVERYTHING" Sarah said as they sat down on her bed.

"Oh my god Sarah it was amazing" Kie started "me and JJ got to hang out all week and him being there just made the vacation so much more fun"

"I need details" Sarah smiled

"Welllll, first of alll, I snuck into his room almost every night and my parents didn't even notice until the very end" they both laughed "normally I hate vacations with my parents but he just made it so fun"

"Aweeeee" Sarah said

"OMG and remember the picture I sent you??"

"Yea?"

"JJ took my out on a date, and he took me to an animal shelter and we literally released turtles back into the ocean- and then we went to go get food with these really creepy people, but we left cuz they were weird- and then he took me to the beach and look" she said showing her the necklace "he made. me. this."

"STOP WTF THATS SO CUTE" Sarah said, pointing at the initials carved into the back

"I knowww righttt" Kie said I'm awe. "And it was a shell we found at the beach together"

"That's literally so adorable I can't believe JJ made that"

"He's literally the best" Kie said, sticking her bottom lip out at how cute it was

"Then what" Sarah asked excitedly

"Then...." Kie smirked "we enjoyed our time on the beach"

"Uh- giirrrrlll" Sarah laughed, knowing what she meant

"And then we went home and it was just really amazing" Kie smiled "he's just so different when it's just him and me together, i wish you guys could see it"

"Not so tough on the inside is he" Sarah teased.

Sarah filled her in on everything that they talked about last night, and then John b and JJ went into her room.

"Hey girlies" JJ said in a high pitched voice as him and John b came in

"Hey guys" They both laughed

"Kieeee" John b said and Kie got up to hug him as JJ went and sat on her desk.

"Hey John b" she said "I missed you all so much"

"Sarah, did you fill her in?" John b asked

"Yea" Sarah nodded, still on her bed

"So, pope and Cleo broke up? That's crazy" Kie said, looking at JJ

He shook his head, agreeing

"And we really don't know why?" She asked John b

"Nope, thats what we're gonna try to find out tonight" John responded.

"And rafe?" Kie asked

"We're looking into it" John b said "there's a mental hospital in Charleston that we're leaning towards"

Sarah looked at JJ and got his attention.

"The necklace" she mouthed silently and put her hand on her collar bone, tilting her head a little

JJ smiled, knowing that Kie had showed her.

"That's so cute" she mouthed, proud of him for coming up with such a good gift for her.

"Thank you" he mouthed back while John b and Kie were still talking about rafe.

Sarah laughed and they went back to listening to Kie and John bs conversation.

"You can come over to the chateau tonight right?" John b asked Kie

"I'll explain what happened to pope, and I'm sure they'll let me go" Kie said

Sarah got off the bed and walked over to John b by the door

"We should go ask then" she said and everyone started following them out the door.

When Sarah and John b left, JJ grabbed Kie hand as she was about to walk out

"hey" he said softly, as he pulled her in and kissed her, as a proper greeting.

"Hey" she smiled back and they walked out of the room.

They went downstairs and all four explained to her parents that they needed to talk to pope since he was going through a breakup, and her parents agreed to let her stay the night like old times.

JJ promised Mike to be good and stay with the group.

They all loaded up in the Twinkie and drove to popes house.

They got there and met up with him on his dock, cleaning out a bucket with a water hose

"POPE!" JJ said, as they all four walked over to him

They could see his face kind of light up when he saw all four of his friends there for him

"Hey, you guys are back" pope said, walking up to them and hugging them all.

JJ hugged him last

"You alright" JJ asked, holding on to his shoulders, insisting that he knew.

"Yea man, I'm alright" pope said, still a little sad "I'm just glad y'all are back" pope said and JJ pulled him back into a hug

They all got back in the Twinkie like old times and drove to the chateau.

When it got dark, they started and fire and brought beers out in a cooler. They started drinking and catching up around the fire, before finally asking.

"So, pope" JJ started "I know this is probably a sensitive subject, but what happened with you and Cleo"

Pope took a deep breath before talking.

"It's a long story, but basically she said she just needed some time to think about which was more important to her; moving back to Barbados's or our relationship" pope explained

"What? That doesn't even make sense, why would she want to go back to Barbados?" Kie asked

"She said she didn't like it here. She feels like she doesn't fit in" pope said using air quotes

"Like with us?" John b asked "I thought she got along great with our group"

"Yea so did I" pope agreed "but I guess she doesn't feel the same way"

They talked about it for a little longer, but eventually pope went out to the dock to clear his head.

They were all talking by the fire when Kie looked back behind her at the dock and saw pope looking sad.

"I'm gonna go talk to him" Kie whispered to JJ

"Ok" JJ said, looking up at her. He leaned in a little like he wanted to kiss her. Kie was a little surprised he was okay with doing that in front of John b and Sarah, but she happily kissed him back.

She gave him a peck and then headed out to the dock to talk to pope.

*cough cough* "pussy whipped" *cough* John b teased after Kie left

"Shut up" JJ laughed, throwing a twig he was playing with at him.

"Pope?" Kie called out once she got to the end of the dock where he was standing.

"Hey kie" he said, sounding upset

"Are you okay" she asked, going next to him and leaning on railing as well.

"I just don't get it" pope says, looking out into the water " I mean what did I do to make her feel that way"

"Have you tried talking to her since?" Kie asked

"No. There's no point" pope said "I don't know what I would even say to her"

"Just try asking her if there's anyway you two could figure it out" Kie tried to help "I'm sure you guys could figure out something"

"Honestly, I don't know" pope said looking at her "I don't even think she ever really like me, I mean why would she. She probably just got bored of me and made an excuse"

"Of course she liked you pope" Kie said "you're sweet, and funny, and smart. Don't say that about yourself."

"Well, I don't think she felt that way about me" pope said "it's probably for the best we broke up"

"Hey" Kie said, hugging him "it's gonna be okay"

"Thanks kie" he said, hugging her back

Kie started to pull away, but as she did, pope leaned in and kissed her.

Kie instantly moved away, pushing his chest to move her face away from him.

"Pope- no, what are you doing??" She asked, grabbing his wrists and pulling them off her back.

"Sorry- I just" pope started "I thought-"

"Pope, you know I'm with JJ, seriously what are you doing" Kie said, backing away.

"Please don't tell him about that Kie" pope said, burying his face in his hands with regret.

Kie looked at him, a little mad but mainly just shocked.

"I Hope you feel better" Kie said as she started walking back down the dock, leaving him there by himself.
