The weekend had rolled around, JJ and John b were getting the fire ready for everyone to come over. Tonight was special since Cleo was coming over for the first time.

Kie and Sarah showed up together since sarah had stayed the night at Kies house the night before.

JJ started to make his way to the car as Sarah immediately jumped out and ran inside. JJ watched her confused as he made his way to Kie.

"She had to pee" Kie explained as she opened the door, JJ leaned on the car door waiting as Kie grabbed her bag.

"Ah" he says, hugging Kie once she stood up.

"Hey" she says hugging him back

"How are you" he asks softly

"Good" she smiles "parents have been on my ass lately, took forever to convince them to let me come here tonight." She complains as she shuts the car door.

Her and JJ walk up to the fire pit and sit on the bench together as they waited for pope and Cleo.

JJ leaned his head on Kies arm a little, smushing his cheek into her skin and playing with her hand like he normally did.

"I missed you" he says quietly

"You saw me yesterday" Kie laughed but was happy. She noticed him slowly starting to open up to her more. He was starting to get better at talking about how he felt to her.

"Yea I know" he laughs at himself.

John b and Sarah walk back outside. The sound of the screen door opening made JJ sit back up and let go of Kies hand.

"JJ you can stop acting like your not pussy whipped, we all already know" John b teases him as they walk down the steps.

JJ laughs, dropping his head back down. It wasn't long before he sat up again though because he still wasn't comfortable with physical touch around his friends.

Shorty after the fire was lit, Cleo and pope arrived.

They all greeted them and hung out around the fire for a while  drinking beers and telling stories. Everyone was really happy.

"Pope was so nervous when he asked" cleo said to the group "it was adorable"

JJ had missed the first part of that conversation because Him and Kie were talking about something else.

"Yea I was" pope admits "but she still said yes"

JJ was confused as he listened in.

"Are you guys going to prom?" Pope asks John b and Sarah

"Prom?" JJ asks himself "prom?" He says again quietly turning his head, this time asking Kie

"Yesssss I might have to drag this one there" Sarah says pulling at John bs arm "but we're definitely going"

"Are we going to prom? Do you want to go to prom?" JJ asks nudging Kies leg with his

"Do YOU want to go to prom?" Kie asks, assuming the answer was an absolute no.

"Shiiit I'll go to prom" JJ decides "you in a hot dress all night? Pshh count me in"

"Okayy" Kie says shocked, with a big smile on her face "we're going to prom" she says happily.  She definitely never would have taken JJ for the type of guy who would ever go to prom. But maybe things were different now.

"JJ you going to prom?" John b asks sarcastically, also assuming he would say no

"Hell yea we're going to prom" JJ announces and stands up excited. He extends his hand to Kie and pulls her up with him. "Shiiittt we finna go crazy on that dance floor" he sarcastically brags, twirling kie around as everyone laughs

"Look go far we're gonna do that scene from dirty dancing" JJ says, getting into the position "I'm ready okay run" he says clapping his hands, ready to catch her.

"Absolutely not" she laughs "you are going to drop me into the fire" she jokes

"Alright fine she doesn't think I can dance" JJ jokes "John b come on buddy we got this"

"Oh shit here we go" pope says as John b stands up and gets ready to run

"Oh god" Sarah laughs watching her boyfriend line up with JJ.

"Okay ready John b" JJ says, bracing himself again

"You better not drop me" John b says getting ready to run

"He's definitely gonna drop you" pope says, Kie standing clear of his running path.

"I won't drop you have some faith" JJ says

"Okay ready"
"Que the music"
"1, 2, 3"
"GO"

John b runs confidently into JJ putting his hands on his shoulder and JJ immediately drops him and they both fall to the ground

"Yea I definitely didn't have that" JJ says standing up and brushing the dirt off of himself.

Everyone laughs and they sit back down

Sarah looks at Kie "y'all are going to prom!!" She silently mouths, excited for her

"I knoowwws right!!" Kie does the same thing back with the biggest smile on her face.

"Wait this is actually so exciting!!" Sarah says to the whole group "okay Cleo your definitely coming over to Kies house to get ready with us"

"Oh yea absolutely you have no choice" Kie laughs

"Sounds good to me" Cleo says "I've never been to a real dance before so I'm excited"

"Okay great then it's settled" John b says "now all we have to do is get JJ a suit"

"Oh yea no shot I own one of those" he laughs

"We'll go to charleston the weekend before and buy one" pope adds. "I need one too"

"When is prom" JJ asks

"In a little less than a month" Sarah informs him "so you have time don't worry"

"Omg!" Sarah adds "prom dress shopping!!" she remembers "Cleo, again, your coming with. We'll go next weekend!!" She exclaims

All the girls get excited and start talking about prom for another 10 minutes while the boys just stare at each other, bored out of there minds.

They all make eye contact and JJ gesture to his pocket with his eyes.

"Oh man" John b stretches. "Boy I sure do love this conversation right now" he eventually said.

"Oh yea" "for sure" JJ and pope say, following his lead.

"But um me and my two pals here need to.. all.. leave now" he says sarcastically

"Oh really" Kie says matching there sarcastic tone as they all stand up

"Yep, we gotta go talk about.. boy stuff yk" John b keeps going "wouldn't want to impose on y'all's very very important conversation right now" he emphasized

"Y'all can go" Sarah says so they can quit the act "enjoy your "boy stuff"" Sarah quotes making a weirded out face

"We'll be back" JJ says to Kie "I'll save you some" he says while holding up a small metal box that he keeps his weed in

She laughs and all three boys walk away to the dock.

They got the the end of the dock and JJ pulled out his metal box and took the blunt out.

"Pope in honor of our latest arrival" he says putting the blunt in his hands "you get first hit" he says as pope puts it i between his lips

"Am I really the latest arrival though" pope jokes skeptically taking the blunt out of his mouth as JJ got the lighter ready "pretty sure me and Cleo were kinda set in stone before you and Kie figured ur shit out" he jokes

"Yea I would have to agree with pope on that one bud" John b teases

"well the statistics don't really matter" he says brushing the joke off "let's light"

JJ lights the blunt in popes mouth and he breathes in, coughing as he exhaled

"There we goooo" JJ says patting him on the back

They pass the blunt around for a minute, looking out at the water.

"Now look at us" John b says breaking the silence. "All three of us going to prom"

"JJ a year ago would've slapped me" JJ laughs

They laugh, agreeing with him

"Honestly yea.. he would've" John b agrees "I'm proud of you tho Jay"

"Yea honestly your finally maturing man" pope says

"Ew alright chill" JJ laughs knowing they were right.

"Just sayin" John b adds "she's good for you"

"Yeah" JJ says, followed by silence.

"To freshman year JJ" JJ says, saluting the blunt and taking a hit "May he Rest In Peace" he says, blowing out and passing the blunt to pope

"To my scholarship" pope says saluting it as well and taking a hit. "Don't even care about you anymore" he admits and passes it to John b

"To the gold we never got" John b says doing the same "thanks for making me meet Sarah"

They stay there for a moment longer looking out at the water.

"Well boys" John b says tapping the rail before leaving "this was fun"

"Cant wait to see if the girls have still managed to find things to talk about that relate to prom" pope says following him back to the fire pit

"I'll be there in a minute" JJ says with the blunt back in his hands, still leaning over to look at the water.

John b and pope get back to the fire and start talking about random stuff since they were now high, making everybody laugh.

Kie looked over and noticed JJ still out on the dock.

"I'll be right back" Kie says as she gets up and start heading to the dock

JJ stayed there thinking about how much he'd changed. Normally he would've freaked out and done something stupid if he'd realized he was changing or becoming more mature. But he liked his life better this way. He was genuinely happy now. He never thought this was possible for him.

"May he Rest In Peace" he says again quietly to himself, tapping the ashes into the water.

"Hey" he hears a familiar voice call from behind him

He turns his head around to see Kie walking up to him.

"hey" he says softly, a smile forming on his face.

She goes up to him and wraps her arms around him from behind, laying her head on his back.

He turns his body around, putting his arm around her to hug her back.

"What are you doing out here" she asks, muffled by there hug

He pauses, holding her in his arms

"Just thinking" he says

"You ok?" She asks to make sure

He looks at her, his buzzed eyes admiring her.

"I am now" he says smiling down at her.

She smiles giving him a peck on the lips

"I can't believe we're actually going to prom" she says, looking up at him.

"It could be fun" he shrugs

"Yea?" She says, happy that he actually wanted to go

"With you?" He says, grabbing her hand and spinning her around again "anything is fun"

Kie smiles and put her arms around JJs neck, his hands on her waste as they start dancing without any music.

"I love you" she smiles, the moonlight shining in her eyes

"I love you too" he says, kissing her and then twirling her around again, pulling her back into a hug.

"I saved you some" he says gesturing to the half smoked blunt on the rail.

"I cant, I have to drive home tonight" she declines

"Whatttt your leavinnngg?" He pouts

"Not right nowww" she explains. "But my dad said I can't stay the night here anymore"

"Because of me?" He asks

"Probably" she says carefully, not wanting to upset him "I'm assuming he knows we're back together"

"Yeaaa, he probably knows" he agrees, realizing he was going to have to do something about that. "What time do you have to leave?" He asks

"I have to be home before 12" she replies.

It was only 10 at that point so they still had some time.

They went back to join everyone by the fire again. This time JJ, who was now high, was much more touchy with Kie. He didn't care if they saw. They eventually sat on the bench together, Kie leaning on him with his arm around her.

She loved having him be all up on her. She knew why he wasn't touchy normally. She knew that even being in a relationship was all completely new to JJ and he just needed sometime to figure it all out, so she was very patient with him.

Eventually that time came around. It was 11:30 and Kie has to start heading home.

"Well this was fun but I have to leave if I want any chance of coming back tomorrow" Kie says patting JJs hand to cue him get off

JJ moves his arm from around her and stands up to walk her to her car.

They all say there goodbyes and JJ and kie walk in the dark to her car.

"You'll text me when you get home?" JJ says so that he wouldn't have to worry

"Yea" Kie smiles

"And your hanging out with us tomorrow right?" He asks, not wanting her to leave

"Yess, I'll be waiting at my dock around 12" she reassured.

"Okay" he says, excepting that she has to leave

"Byee" she says, grabbing his face and giving him a kiss

"Bye" he says, going back in for another. "I love you"

"I love you too" she says, kissing him again. This slowly led to them making out for another 5 minutes

"I still don't think I'll ever get used to that" John b says, catching a glimpse of them by the car.

The rest of the pogues turn to see what John b was talking about.

"Mm, yea.." pope agrees as he turns back around

"I think it's sweet" Sarah says still watching them make out

"Okay I really have to go" she says, pulling away

"Okay" he smiles giving her one last peck

"I'll see you tomorrow jayj" she says while getting in the car

"Byee" he says waving as she shut the door and backed out of the drive way.

He turns around and heads back to the fire pit, walking slowly to give him more time to stop blushing.

"Hey lover boy" John b says once he gets back to the rest of the group, making fake kissing noises.

JJ laughs and turns his head to where her car used to be to see how easy they could see them. This makes him laugh more

"Some pretty intense smoochin goin on over there man" pope teases as JJ walks past the fire "might wanna be careful you could get fined for that in some countries"

"Honestly that was a little to much PG-13 content for my liking, son" John b says sarcastically

"Y'all leave him alone" Sarah laughs while watching JJ blush as he sat down

JJ flicks them off with one hand while the other is hiding his blushing face.
