Daddy's Bad Day
Jessie was in her swing, watching a kid's show. Joker had left her in the care of Barry, while he and his men were out on robbery. "Hey kiddo, you wanna go out on a walk?" Barry asked her. Jessie babbled happily. "Okay, Jessie. Let's get you changed then we can go out on a walk." Barry said as he took Jessie out of her swing. As Barry got Jessie ready, it started to rain. "Oh, sorry kiddo. No walk today, but do you wanna make something for Daddy, when he comes home?" Barry asked. "Daddy! Daddy! Daddy!" Jessie replied happily after hearing the word "Daddy." "Okay, little one. Let's go to your craft table so we can make something for Daddy." Barry replied.
They entered the living room, Barry took her over to her little craft table and got some paper, markers, finger paints, etc. "Okay sweetie, what do you want to use? I got markers, crayons, finger paints, etc." Barry said. "Aint. (Paint)" Jessie replied. "Okay, sweetie. Since you are going to paint, there is only one rule I want you to know, okay? The paint goes on the paper, nowhere else." Barry said. Jessie shook her head to let Barry know that she understood the paint rule. Barry smiled, opened the finger paints, and let Jessie have fun. She painted her hands in green and purple, since they were her daddy's colors, she made a heart, along with some flowers. Once she was done, she said "Arry." Barry came out from the kitchen and said "Yes, princess? Are you done?" Jessie shook her head "Yes." "Do you want me to put Daddy's name in the middle of your heart?" He asked her. Jessie babbled happily. He took his index finger, dipped it in the purple paint, and put the word Daddy in the middle. "Okay baby girl, since your picture is done, I'm going to put it somewhere to dry and hide it, where Daddy won't see it. But first, let's go wash your hands." He said as he took her into the kitchen to wash her hands in the sink. After Jessie washed her hands, he gave her a bottle of juice and a snack and turned on the TV. Barry hid the painting in his room so that when Joker came home, he would give Jessie the painting to give to him. As he returned to the living room, Jessie had fallen asleep.
At about 3:00 pm, it down poured rain. Joker came home all pissed off. "NO ONE BETTER BOTHER ME OR YOU'RE DEAD MEAT!!!!!!!!!!" He yelled, slamming the door to his office. Jessie woke up and saw her uncle Frost. "Osty!" Jessie called her uncle. "Hey there baby girl. How was your day with Barry? Did you have fun?" He asked her. "Yea." She replied. "Air Daddy?" (Where Daddy)She questioned her uncle. "Um, sweetie. Why do you want Daddy?" He asked her. "Icture.(picture)" She replied. Barry got the picture from his room and showed it to Frost. "Oh, honey. This is beautiful. I think Daddy will love it." Frost said as hugged his niece. He put Jessie down and went to talk with Barry.
Little did they know that Jessie took her picture and went upstairs to find her daddy. Once she reached the top of the stairs, she heard her daddy yelling. She didn't like it when he yells, because it scares her, but she thought to herself "Maybe if I give Daddy my picture, he will calm down."
She followed his voice and stopped in front of his office. She saw the door was cracked, so she went inside his office. "Daddy? Daddy?" She called him. She didn't like the way his office looked. Books were thrown around, shelves broken, and his desk flipped over. When Jessie found him, she didn't know that he was in a very very bad mood. She tugged on his pants, he ignored her. She did it again, but he turned with anger and hate in his eyes. "What do you want, you no good for nothing little brat!!!??" He yelled. Jessie ripped her picture and ran to her uncle in tears. Joker picked up the ripped picture and held it to his heart.
Back downstairs, Frost felt something grab his leg, he looked down and saw Jessie in tears. "Sweetie, what's wrong?" "Daddy ean (mean)." She replied. "Honey, why is Daddy mean?" He asked her. "Daddy ell (yell)." She said as she cried into his chest. "Honey. Daddy didn't mean to yell at you. He's having a bad day. I know you wanted to cheer him up but it wasn't the right time. Plus you could have gotten hurt from running down the stairs." Frost told her in a gentle voice. "How about we go to your room and watch your favorite movies?" He said hoping it would cheer her up. "Otay (okay)." She replied sadly because she was still upset. Frost picked her up and took her to her room and placed her in her crib. "Jessie? Stay here. Uncle Frosty has to check on something, but I will be right back, okay?" He said. Jessie nodded her head as he left her room. Frost went to Joker's office, knocked on the door, and waited for an answer.
Joker POV: I'm a bad father. I yelled at my little clown. The one thing that I TRULY LOVE more than life itself. I called her a "no good for nothing little brat."Why did I say that? She's my baby. Fathers don't yell at their kids unless they misbehave, but all my little clown tried to do was make me feel better from the bad day I'm having. All of this anger and hatred started with the heist I tried to pull off at a jewelry store but nothing went right because a new guy trigger a wire and I took my anger out on my little clown. My sweet, loving little clown. Just then I heard a knock on the door, I hope it was my little clown because I wanted to tell her how sorry Daddy is and will do anything to see her smile and giggle again. (End of POV.)
"Come in," Joker said in hopes that his baby girl was the one who knocked on the door. "Boss? Is it ok for me to enter?" Frost asked him. "Is my little clown with you?" Joker asked. "No boss. She's in her room." Frost replied. "Frost. I screwed up big time. I don't think that Jessie is going to forgive me this time." Joker said as he still held the ripped picture in his hand. "Boss, you just got to give her time and space. She didn't hear you when we all came home, because she was fast asleep on the couch. She will forgive you because she loves you and cares about you. If she didn't love you, which is not true, wouldn't you have told me to get rid of her?" Frost asked. "You're right. Make sure that no one else comes up. I'm going to be with my baby girl." Joker order. He walked down to Jessie's room, he was about to knock, but he heard his daughter crying. "Jessie? Sweetie, can Daddy come in?" Joker asked her. All he got in response were sniffles.
He opened her door and gently walked over to her crib and picked her up and placed her in his arms. "Little clown. Daddy is so sorry for yelling at you and saying that hurtful thing. Daddy didn't mean it. He was just mad at his men, but I took my anger out of you. Daddy should not have done it, but he did. I'm so sorry little clown. I'll do anything to make it up to you." He said. Jessie looked up at her daddy and hugged him close with some tears in her eyes. "No, little clown. Please don't cry." Joker said as he hugged her. "Daddy, icture (picture)?" Jessie asked him. "Daddy can fix the picture, but first- the tickle monster is going to get you!" Joker said playfully as he grabbed Jessie and unleashed the tickle monster. Their laughter filled the house. "Oh, my little clown. I love the sound of your laughter." Joker said. Just then, Frost came into her nursery and said "Jessie. Your favorite puppy is on." "Daddy, atch uppy? (watch puppy)" Jessie asked her Daddy. "Okay, sweetie. Daddy will watch the puppy with you." Joker replied as he took her downstairs to the living room. Frost turned on the TV and turned on A pup named Scooby-Doo, for this was Jessie's favorite TV show. Joker placed her on his lap, covered her with a soft neon green blanket, and watched TV together.
Whenever the monster showed up on the TV, Jessie got scared and held her daddy's hand with a death grip. "Honey, it's okay. That monster isn't going get you, not while I'm here with you." He said soothingly. Jessie eased her grip, but she was still a little scared. Joker could see that his daughter was scared, so he told the monster on the TV. "Hey, you! Stop scaring my little clown! I don't like it when she's upset. There now, my sweet little princess. That mean ol' monster won't scare you anymore." Joker said as he returned to his spot on the couch by Jessie. The two spend the day watching a pup named Scooby-Doo. After Scooby-Doo was over, Jessie went into the kitchen. "Where are you going, little clown?" Joker asked her. "Ack." (Snack) She replied. "Okay. Daddy will get ya a snack, but you share it with Daddy. Okay?" He said. "Otay Daddy." She said giggling. Joker made chocolate chip cookies, he gave her two cookies and a sippy cup of strawberry milk. They re-entered the living room when Joker asked Jessie "Do ya want to watch a movie with Daddy, sweetie?" The smile on her face was priceless. She was happy that she could finally watch a movie with her daddy because whenever they tried to, they were always interrupted by work, meetings, and Batman. Joker picked her up and walked over to the DVD cabinet, which was huge. Jessie picked out Hotel Transylvania, one of her many favorites, not including Disney movies.
He took the DVD, placed the disc into the player, got back on the couch, placed Jessie by his side, covered her with her green blanket, and hit play. As they were watching the movie, Jessie tugged on her Daddy's arm. He looked down at her and smiled. "Yes, baby?" "Or ou." (for you) She said handing him a cookie. He took the cookie, broke it in half, and gave the other half to her. "Thank you, little clown." He said as he kissed her head. Jessie wanted to snuggle and cuddle with her daddy. "Awww, does my baby girl want to cuddle with Daddy?" Joker said in a baby voice. She crawled over to him with Boo-Boo and her green baby blanket. "You wanna be swaddled too, baby girl?" He cooed. Jessie lied back as Joker took her green baby blanket from her, spread it out on the couch, placed Jessie on it, and swaddled her up. He placed Boo-Boo around her and cuddled her. "Awww, you look so cute. He cooed. Just then Joker saw Jessie was getting sleepy. He cuddled her to his chest and very gently began to rock her. He sang a different lullaby, which was Hushabye, while Jessie cooed as she started to drift off to sleep. Joker smiled as he watched her sleep, for a few minutes before going to Frost and his men.
He told his men to fix his office, while he went to fix Jessie's picture. As he fixed the picture, he put the picture in a frame and hung it in a special place, where only he could see it. After his office was fixed, Joker left to go check on Jessie, who was still asleep but had her tiny hand popping out of her swaddle. He gently picked her up, held her in his arms, and wrapped his finger around her hand. "My little clown." He said as he held tight in his arms and close to his chest. Jessie yawned and said in a sleepy voice "I Daddy (My Daddy)" Joker chuckled to himself when he heard Jessie say that. He placed her on his chest and went to sleep.
