~No one's P.O.V.~

Jessie followed Master Makarov out of the library. When she walked back up, she sweatdropped at the fact that nothing had changed. Chairs were still fighting and drinking, and a couple of fights had broken out. However, when the guild noticed Jessie, they all stopped what they were doing. "Um.." Jessie sweatdropped, looking at all the members.

"Members of Fairy Tail," the Master said in a loud voice. "I have an announcement for you." The guild murmured things like, "what this time" or "does it have something to do with the shorty?" The comments were stopped when the old man put his hand in the air. "The announcement is that we have a new member of Fairy Tail." Jessie glanced behind her to see Erza, Gray, Natsu, and Lexi listening to the conversation as well. "This new member is.." He suddenly slung an arm around Jessie and pulled her closer to him. "This girl, Jessie!" Jessie eyes widened and she was speechless. It looked like the guild was too, but after a couple seconds, it errupted in cheers.

"Welcome to Fairy Tail Jessie!" "I wonder if she's a mage..." "If she is, Gramps must've let her in cause she's pretty strong!" "Heh, that young and strong? She's lucky."

"M-Mr. Makarov, if I may, I never agreed to that!" Jessie said, trying to sound professional.

"You can call me Gramps," he smiled casually.

"Okay, fine, 'Gramps', I never said I wanted to—" Master Makarov stopped her by putting a hand in front of her face.

"Walk with me Jessie," he said in a serious tone. The sudden change in his tone forced Jessie to agree. She tried to hide her face as almost the entire guild stared at them until the door behind them closed. They walked all the way in silence. Jessie looked down at the sidewalk, not wanting to look at the old man. She never wanted to join a guild. She brought pain to whoever she met and whoever she got too close to. Because she wasn't looking where she was, Jessie accidentally bumped into the Master.

"S-sumimasen," she apologized quickly. The short master didn't seem to notice, because instead he walked down the hill and towards a river. Jessie's eyes widened when she realized that it was the river she had been looking at as she ran away from them.

From Fairy Tail.

"Come, sit down with me," Master Makarov said gently, patting on the grass next to him. He was sitting right at the edge of the river. Jessie hesitantly sat down on the spot, looking at the sparkling river with him. It was the afternoon, but the river still glittered with colors of red, orange, and yellow. "So tell me a bit about yourself," Master asked, glancing at Jessie. She realized he had looked at her, but kept her gaze down on the river in front of her.

"You will have to be specific," Jessie responded softly. The old man slightly frowned at her words, but answered.

"Okay, how about how old you are?" he asked softly.

"Five," she answered nonchalantly. Master Makarov's onyx eyes flew open. He had a coughing fit in order to suppress the great surprise he had just felt. Jessie cocked her eyebrows.

"Is that so young?" she asked honestly. Seeing as she had been kidnapped at the age of 3 and raised by a dragon in solitude until now, it was no wonder she barely had a sense of what 'normal humans' were and how they acted.

"Um, yes, that's a bit young for a kid like you to be wondering by herself," Master replied, letting out the last coughs.

"Oh," was all she said. "I do not possess the knowledge of what 'normal' is for the outside world.." That made him stop coughing.

"Oh? And why not?" he asked. Jessie looked down and slightly bit her lip. She was not sure on whether or not she should tell him about her past. He noticed this and said, "If you do not trust anyone in this world, you can trust me." Jessie looked at him with wide eyes. She examined the short man. She didn't know why, but she did feel like she trusted him.

She told him about her past, how she had been kidnapped, betrayed Hornet, and got raised by Mizula.  She even told him about her brother, and how he was probably in a different country than where they were now... Fiore was its name, if she recalled correctly.

"That's a very interesting past for someone as young as you," the old man commented. Jessie slightly nodded and ran one of her small hands through the river's current. As she did, it seemed as if the water froze as it did not ripple or move, resulting in a groove in the otherwise rippling water. Master Makarov noticed this, but did not say anything. Instead, he asked, "So, do you remember the name of your father?" Jessie flinched, but numbly nodded, her hands still tracing something in the water.

"It's fuzzy for some reason," she murmured.  It had been a while since she last tried to remember her family.   "Maybe it is because I do not want to remember, but I force myself to anyways." Master nodded in understanding.

"What about this guild you wanted to join when you were young?" he asked. Jessie again nodded, but didn't say anything. Master understood why and looked back at the river. "At least...will you stay at Fairy Tail?" Jessie froze and looked up at the old man, remembering a tugging question at her mind.

"Why did you say I was in Fairy Tail?" she asked.

"You have no where else to go am I right?" Master Makarov smiled warmly. Jessie was a bit surprised, but managed to nod. "So, you can stay in Fairy Tail. Learn some things a book can not show you."

"Like what?" Jessie asked curiously.

"Well, things like doing jobs, what a mage is," he listed.

"But I've read of that before," she countered. He smiled.

"Yes, but you can't experience it," he pointed out. "You also can't read about what being a nakama (comrade) means."

"Na..kama?" Jessie sounded out the word. She had heard about that word in one of the adventure books she has read.

Comrade: a companion who shares one's activities or is a fellow member of an organization.

"I know what it means," Jessie frowned. Master Makarov smiled.

"Yes, but have you ever been one before?" he asked. Jessie thought about that for a minute. She shook her head in the end, signalling she has not. "Well, in a guild, you can learn what being a comrade is like," he explained. "What we can't show you is what normal is." Jessie tilted her head.

"Why not?" she asked.

"Because everyone is unique in their own way," he replied. "There really is no sense of 'normal' in this world." Jessie blinked a couple times before smiling.

"You're very knowledgeable as well," Jessie commented. The old man smiled and rubbed the back of his neck.

"Weeelll, when you're this old, you pick up a couple things," he chuckled.  "Comes with age, I suppose." Jessie nodded in agreement and continued tracing her fingers into the water. By then he had figured out what she was trying to draw, but decided to ask than assume anyways.

"So, you never told me the name of the guild your father was Master," he said in a calm tone. "Do you remember it?" Jessie nodded and leaned back, admiring the work she had done. She had drawn a small symbol that looked like a fanged animal.

"Saber....tooth," Jessie murmured, her hands fidgeting. It felt like it had been so long since she last heard the name.  It made shudders of excitement go down her back.  It was like a child saying a taboo word for the first time after knowing it for so long.  It was just.. exciting.  Master nodded.

"And...will you go back to that guild? Or stay with Fairy Tail?" Jessie looked down at the grass, not sure of which one to decide. Sure, it was exciting..but that didn't mean that she wanted to go back. She analyzed the situation; stay with Fairy Tail and learn more...or go back to Father? "Whichever you choose will be fine by me," Master noted, patting her on the shoulder. Jessie slightly flinched, but accepted the touch. She clenched her tiny fists, crushing the grass they were resting on.  Staying with Fairy Tail and getting to learn things that books could not show her sounded like her version of a Fairy Tale.  Something that cannot be learned in a book? It still sounded unreal to her.  But, there was also the fact that her Father could be looking for her, and her brother too.  Jessie looked up at the blue sky.  Wispy cloud of all sizes idly floated by as the young girl watched.

Father...onii-san.. she thought in her head.  I wonder how they've been doing..?   She closed her eyes. I wonder..if they're looking for me..  Wind suddenly blew from the east, blowing her bangs over her eyes, shadowing it.  Have you forgotten? a small voice in the back of her head hissed.  Have you forgotten why you haven't gone back in the first place?  Why you don't care?

Jessie abruptly stood up, a couple strands of crushed grass wisping past her. "I have my decision," she said, her voice wavering, yet determined. Master stood up as well.

"Alright, which one is it?" he asked, locking his eyes with Jessie's bright blue ones. Jessie returned the eye contact, and, with what little confidence she had in herself and her answer, told him.

The two of them gently opened the doors of Fairy Tail, silencing all the chaos. Jessie was looking down while Master kept his gaze forward. Erza was the first to break the silence as she walked towards the two.

"Will she be staying in Fairy Tail?" Erza asked the Master. Master closed his eyes.

"You will have to ask her that question my dear," was all he said as he walked back up to his office to do Mavis knows what.  All attention turned to the small girl, whose eyes couldn't be seen as her bangs shadowed it.

"Jess.." Lexi softly whimpered, flying over to her. Jessie looked slightly up and caught the small pink exceed in her arms. "Whatever your decision is...I'll follow you okay?" she sniffled, scared that her partner was going to leave her. Jessie weakly smiled and petted her head.

"If you're scared that I'll leave you, I won't ever okay?" Jessie muttered soothingly.

"Promise?" Lexi asked.

"Promise," Jessie agreed. She then looked up at the many people who were still looking at her.

"So...will you stay?" Gray asked, trying not to sound anxious. He failed terribly though. A broad smile crept onto Jessie's lips.

"Depends; do you have a crystal blue color for guild marks?"
