"It's nice to meet you Jake." I smiled back at him.

My dad put him on the floor. "You can walk, you have legs." he laughed to himself.

We walked towards the fun fair, it was only 5 minutes away. The string lights and bright signs lit up the stalls and rides. The smell of candy floss and freshly fried chips filled my lungs.

My eyes lit up. "There is something magical about fun fairs don't you think?"

"I love them!" Jake cheered.

We bought candy floss and shared small talk whilst walking to a bench. Henry sat opposite me and Jake sat down next to me, our dad opposite him.

"Dad has told me a lot about you. He said you hate the heights, but you love the other rides." Jake told me with certainty in his voice.

"Is that right?" I smiled. "And what rides do you like?"

"I love them all, but this year I want to go on the really fast one. Dad wouldn't let me last year."

"The Waltser? That's because it made me sick when I was your age, but I'm sure that you've got a stronger stomach than I had." I winked at him like we had our own club.

"Will you come on it with me?" he asked. I looked at Dad and so did Jake. "Please Dad?" he asked our dad with puppy dog eyes that even I couldn't say no to.

He 'um'ed and 'ah'ed for a moment or two until he gave in and said yes.

"Come on you, why don't we have a go on the throwing games first?" I asked.

"Yeah!" he cheered.

He took my hand and we all walked over to the stand. I paid for his go and he took the bean bags and threw them at the targets, each one slightly missing. I knelt down beside him.

"Hey, do you want me to show you a little trick?" I asked, he nodded. I stood up with him on my hip and showed him how to throw the beanbags. He focused and with precision, he threw the beanbag and hit the target first time.

"Yes! Go on Son!" our dad cheered.

"Look how good that was!" I bounced him on my hip.

"So good, that you get to choose a prize." The man operating the game explained.

"Yes! Can I have the monkey please?" he beamed.

"That's a good choice and good manners." I said as he took the monkey off of the man.

"I'm going to call her Rose, so she's a flower just like you."

I put him on the ground. "I think Rose is the best name." I said.

We all walked for a bit longer around the games, Jakes hand in mine, like I'd known him his whole life. It was a bittersweet feeling; I adored the love he showed me, but I knew I could never bear a child of my own.

Jake queued up, with us watching, for a flying plane ride that only he'd fit in. We watched from the barrier, Henry one side my dad the other. Henry had his arm resting around me on my hip.

We watched as Jake was pretending to fly on the ride. He gave us all the biggest smile and waved like crazy.

My dad put his hand on mine. "You know he's careful with people and I can see he loves you already. You're going to be a great mum one day."

And just like that, my eyes were welling with a pool of tears, I could feel Henry's grip tighten, pulling me closer to him. I didn't have the heart to tell him, so instead I just said "Thanks Dad," and let the sound of the fun fair fill the air between us.

I leaned into Henry and let him hold me until Jake came running towards us with a huge smile. "Can I go on The Waltser now, please?" he pleaded.

"Oh course we can!" I took his hand and we ran towards it, the was queue empty as we stood in line waiting for our turn.

"Daisy?" his little voice echoed towards me.

"Yes, darling?"

"Why haven't you been around? Dad talks about you so much. So why didn't you visit?" he asked.

I knelt down next to him. "You know I had to go away for a while, I had school, a job and they aren't the best excuses, but I didn't have much time. But now I've met you, you're not going to be able to keep me away." I teased his cheek that was red from the cold, and he gave me the sweetest look before he threw his arms around me.

"I love you Daisy."

"Oh, I love you too Jakey!" I squeezed him.

I stood up and we watched as the people left the ride, they looked a little drunk, staggering from side to side. He let out a little giggle at them that melted my heart.

We sat down on the ride and fastened our straps. As the ride began spinning, he took my hand and held it tight. The wind whipped my hair and suddenly I felt disoriented by the rapid change in pace.

As the ride slowed, I felt the vibration of the burner phone in my pocket. I answered it as quickly as I could.

"Hey, what's up?" I asked immediately.

"Listen to me Jessica. You. Need. To. Run!" Kassie's voice boomed through the phone followed by the end tone.

I called up Henry whilst still on the ride. "Henry they're here, we have to run, Kassie just called this phone."

"Fuck, okay, you know where to meet me."

"Okay, I'll be there with Jake as soon as we get off this ride." I said before putting the phone down.

The ride stopped soon after, "Listen to me Jake we just have to walk very fast and very quiet to meet Dad and Henry. Did Dad tell you about this?" he nodded and took my hand.

Walking as fast as his little legs could, we walked past the stalls and was heading towards the exit when I saw them in their telltale 'undercover' clothes. I pulled him the other way when there was another two obvious agents. I turned around and walked back. Squeezing his hand tightly and snuck into the empty magicians tent.

Phil, our security detail that Henry and I asked to come along just in case was there, right where we'd asked him to be.

"It's only a matter of time before they find me, so take him to the rendezvous point we discussed, and quickly please."

"I'm on it." he confirmed.

"Thank you Phil."

I kneeled down and looked into Jakes innocent eyes. "You have to go with Phil, he's a good guy, okay? He's going to take you to Dad. You're going to be safe. Just hold on to Rose and I'll meet you there. I love you Jakey." I kissed his forehead and sent him off.

I pulled out the burner phone and called Henry. "They had me surrounded, I'm in the magicians tent, I sent Jake with Phil to our safety point. If anything happens to me-" the signal on the phone dropped and cut off the call.

Two shadows looked over the tent, "She's in here," I heard one guy whisper.

They entered the tent, guns in their hands. I schooled him taking the gun off of him. Whilst the other one tried to attack I roundhouse kicked him in the head and knocked the gun out of his hand. Now gun-less they charged at me, mistaking my small frame for weakness I quickly dodged their hits. I kicked one in their nuts and smashed his head on my knee until he fell to the floor and the other took a closer glance of my fist as it hit is face and then my elbow as he tried to grab me, and lastly my foot as it stood on his head. I kicked the guns out of their reach and they stayed down.

Expecting two more I waited, my heart pounding out of my chest. I didn't care if I died, I'd settled that debt in my mind years ago. All I wanted was for Jake, Dad and Henry to be safe.

"Jessica, Jessica, Jessica," I heard his voice echo through the tent.

"Come to settle your own business, have we Christopher?" I stood strong waiting for him.

He walked in through the tent flaps, casual as hell, dressed in a suit of all fucking things. Up to me, he walked with that smug smile on his face.

"Shall we do this the easy way or the hard way?" he asked with that same devilish tone, except this time I didn't even flicker from my position.

"That depends, are you going to turn around and leave?"

"You know I called you Jessica for years," he walked closer to me "but that isn't your name, is it?" he stopped in front of me. "Maybe being called Delilah would make you feel at home?" Watching the name that was last used by my mother spill from his mouth made me feel even more sick, if that was possible.

"You could, but you knew all along, so why would it make a difference now?" I snarled at him.

"It's simple really, tell me where Henry is and I'll spare you, but don't and I'll kill you."

His body, now inches away from mine. I could feel the intensity of his sincerity, but I was calling bullshit.

"You've got your knickers all in a twist, it's quite refreshing to see actually. You knew who I was from the beginning, you let me believe that you saved me when in actuality you were there to kill me. You took a messy situation, a messed up little girl for your cause and messed her up even more. But the kicker here is I don't think you're going to kill me, because you would have done it already, you would have done it years ago when you went to do it if you was going to. No, I think that you just got a little jealous that I was fucking another man and you took it out on me and him."

The rage that had built up in me since my dad had left all those years ago was rising. I could feel it heating up my body. He stepped forward, his chest now touching my chest.

"I've got to admit, you're pretty ballsy playing this game Jessie. But you should know better." He took my arm in his hand. "You know what happens when you miss behave." He tightened the grip on my arm.

"What do you want me to do, plead for your mercy? Well, I won't. If you're going to kill me then kill me already I've been waiting to die half of my life."

He twisted my arm and pulled my back against his chest. "You say I messed you up, but you liked it. You was begging for it."

"I was begging to feel something." I snapped.

"You're not making this easy for me Jessica." He pulled my arm tighter.

"Go on, do it, put me out of my misery." I begged him.

"I don't want to hurt you, I just want you to give me what I want."

"You know she called me, your daughter, warning me. I guess she loved me after all. Could you imagine what she'd do if she knew about the cameras, about what you did? We both know she carries your psychopathic DNA. Maybe I should tell her." I snarled.

I heard the crack of my arm as he snapped it. I let out a scream of pain. He wrapped his fingers around my mouth shutting me up, but not quick enough. Shadows loomed around the tent and he let go of me. I staggered forward, but he pulled me back to him.

"This will not be our last encounter Jessica." he whispered harshly into my ear and then left.

He always had to have the last word.
