Come and Gone
Jack stayed in the library for what seemed like an hour and then finally Elsa showed up. She picked up the dropped book and looked at the pages. Jack didn't notice. She began to frost the pages like he had spelling out words.
"Hello?" She asked. Jack ran over staff in hand looking at the pages. Hi I'm Elsa. He chuckled to himself and melted her frost and replied. Hi. I'm Jack Frost. But you're not real. The pages replied. Yes I am. Just believe. Her eyes widened as Jack appeared out of thin air.
"Hello." Jack said smirking.
"You're real?" Elsa asked.
"Yup. And come on I need your help!" Jack thought to himself, Not the greatest pickup line but it'll do I guess.
"Elsa hold on." He scooped her up and flew out the window.
"Jack?!" She said her voice rising to a scream.
"Hold on!" She was holding on as tight as she possibly could. Her head was pressed against his chest and her arms around his neck. Her breath was ragged and uneven. They landed at the north pole a minute later. Elsa was still holding on.
"Is it over?" She whispered.
"Yes my Ice Princess." Jack replied.
"Oh," Elsa said smoothing out her dress, "and I am not a princess I am a queen!"
"Oh my bad malady." Jack said bowing, "My Ice Queen!" He put extra emphasis on queen.
"Why are we here?" Elsa asked changing the topic.
"I'd like you to meet somebody." Jack said. He walked in holding Elsa's hand. "North?"
"Jack! Is this the girl Elsa we've been hearing so much about?" North said like a parent.
"Yes I'm Elsa." She said blushing.
"Good. We'll need you. But there is a 50% chance that you can get seriously injured or killed." North said cheerfully. Elsa's mouth dropped open. "Just kidding!" North said quickly, "A 20% chance." He said under his breath.
"Why do you need me? I'm not a guardian."
"Yes but your powers can help us defeat Pitch. He somehow reawakened. We don't know who did it but-" North was abruptly cut off when a voice rang through the workshop.
"Oh hello Jack." The voice spat out bitterly, "So nice to see you again. Oh and you have a girlfriend." Pitch appeared behind Elsa.
"Elsa!" Jack yelled. Elsa had backed into Pitch's awaiting arms.
"Now back away." Pitch yelled to jack and the other guardians, "Or the pretty girl gets it!" He said forming a blade out of black sand.
"Hey Pitch." Elsa said squirming in his grasp, her voice confident but her expression nervous, "I have a surprise for you!" Ice started to spread of his arm. It reached his shoulder when he finally pulled away.
"What?!" he exclaimed looking at his frozen arm. Elsa ran to Jack. He embraced her for a second then she turned.
"Now leave!" Elsa said loud, sure, and unwavering.
"Leave!" Pitch mocked Elsa he waved his hand and the ice broke, "YOU CANNOT DEFEAT ME!" then with that he disappeared. Everyone looked absolutely horrified.
"This isn't good." North said turning to the globe, lights were disappearing, "Pitch is getting more powerful. But who is feeding him? He needs fear! Who could've brought him back?"
"Anna..." Elsa whispered urgently under her breath.
"What was that?" Jack asked her.
"Anna!" She said louder and more urgently then before, "It was Anna! She was afraid that Hans would come back! He almost killed me before she's scared of him!"
"But that can't have been the only source of the fear." Jack said.
"Well then what else could it be?" Elsa inquired, "The only other person who could possibly scare her is-" She faltered. She turned to Jack her eyes wide and tearing up.
"Who?" he asked impatiently.
"Me!" She said and started to sob, "My own sister is afraid of me!" Jack awkwardly patted her back as she stood there crying.
"It's okay Elsa." North said comforting her.
"NO!" She shouted, snow swirling around her in an icy rage, "IT IS NOT OKAY MY OWN SISTER! THE ONLY ONE I HAVE LEFT IS AFRAID OF ME! I'M A MONSTER! LOOK AT ME! DON'T YOU SEE? HANS SHOULD'VE KILLED ME." She broke down and kneeled on the floor taking rattling breaths between sobs.
"It's okay Elsa. You're powers aren't your fault. And maybe Anna isn't scared of you, but for you." Jack said rubbing her back. Her sobs abruptly stopped. Her breaths slowed.
"Jack?" she said, "What if he gets to Anna?" Elsa whispered still kneeling.
"Don't worry that won't happen." she looked at him wide eyed, her gaze unwavering eyes filled with tears.
"Jack, I'm scared." Elsa said and Jack saw reflecting in those eyes was a memory waiting to be awoken.
'Whee! Jack look at me!' Said a small girl skating around on ice. 'Don't fall!' I said smiling. She giggled. I leaned on my staff looking at my happy sister then a disaster happened. The ice was too thin. The floor was cracking. Splits were beginning to show. 'Jack, I'm scared.' I looked into those eyes and saw true terror. I stood on the unstable ice seemingly frozen. 'Here we go.' I said, 'One,' I took a step, 'Two' Another, 'Three!' I took a third and pushed my sister off the ice with my staff. The ice broke from under me. 'Jack!'
"Jack, I'm scared." Elsa had said just a second ago. His flash back now fading away. He finds himself staring into blue eyes.
"Don't be." he replied.
"Ah!" she said as she felt a sharp pain in her head, "RUN!" She shouted.
"What's wrong Elsa?" North asked worried. She looked up her face in a tight grimace.
"I'm dying! Pitch he's..." Her voice trailed of and she collapsed. Black sand erupted from the ground and covered her body.
"NO!" Jack shouted, "ELSA!" He reached for her but it was too late. Her body had disappeared.
And Jack lost his Ice Queen.
But not forever.
"I WILL GET YOU PITCH!" Jack shouted into the air, "AND I WILL GET HER BACK!"
