Chapter 7: Stuck in the middle

Shade's POV

"Shade?" A voice came from the door. I rolled my eyes and went to open it.

"What is it Sabri-" It wasn't Sabrina, oh well. Pitch came in and stood in front of me. "What is it?" I repeated my question. I never called Pitch my father, he is not my father in my eyes.

"I have a mission for you, Shade." Pitch said.

"What?" I asked with interest.

"I want you to spy on two kids." Pitch replied.

"Spy? Why?"

"Since you like making friends in your new school, you would have the perfect cover."

"What do I have to do?"

"Just spy, get information."

"From who?"

"These two girls." Pitch handed me a picture. I looked at the picture, it was two girls. My eyes widen. It was Jessica and Jenna. Wait, I have to spy on them?! They're my friends!

"T-These two?" I stammered.

"Yes, these two girls that have long golden hair. They go to your school, don't worry, they're easy to spot with that hair." Pitch stated.

"But why them?" I asked.

"These two girls are the children of my enemies. I must have my revenge on them." Pitch replied.

I gulped, my mind in a blur. Are Jessica and Jenna my enemies or friends now? "Do you know them yet?" Pitch broke my concentration.

"No." I quickly replied. I can't spy on these two! How could I? They are my friends! "But, what did your enemies do?"

"They gave me a stupid 14 years in prison." Pitch snapped.

NO WAY PITCH. No way am I ever going to spy on Jessica and Jenna. I wanted to say it so badly. Pitch mustn't harm them or their parents. With a person as evil as Pitch, I'm sure the people he's after are innocent. But if I don't spy on them, Pitch will get Sabrina to do it, and there's no way I can let them happen. Sabrina will just make it worse if she knows that she has to spy on these two.

"Find these two girls tomorrow and track them down. Get to know who their friends are as well. Who knows? You might even find my arch enemy, Jack Frost's kids in there." Pitch ordered.

"How do your enemies look like?" I asked, pretending to be interested.

"I have an old picture. High school picture." Pitch chuckled and gave me one. I looked closely at what he pointed. Double drat! Eliza and Elijah looked like the girl with platinum blond hair and boy with white colour hair! Harold and Henry looked like the boy with brown hair and the girl with orange hair. Kristine and Kristen? Yep, those two looked like the girl with strawberry blond hair and the boy with yellow/blond colour hair. For Jessica and Jenna, it was already obvious. The girl with long golden hair like them.

"These eight people are my enemies, but my main one is Jack Frost." Pitch concluded. "You have to find them quickly, got it?!"

"Y-Yes." I gulped. So in short, Eliza and Elijah are the main enemy out if all of my eight friends, right? Damn, why did it have to be them?! I can't, I just can't do this to them. They are my friends, not enemies!

"Get to work soon." Pitch said and went out. I stood there blankly. I held the picture and looked at it again. No doubt, I know all of the children that Pitch mentioned.

I made up my mind. I am not gonna help Pitch with this. Instead, I'll warn my friends. I can't let Pitch harm them. I know what I'm doing is probably wrong, but it seems right to me. Sabrina cane bursting into the room. I hurriedly hid the picture behind me.

"Hey." I simply said.

"What did he tell you to do?" Sabrina asked.

"Just a mission." I replied. "Some spying."

"Can you handle it?"

"Why? Are you underestimating me?"

"I just think you lack the skills to do it."

"If I really do lack the skills, Pitch would have given the mission to you."

"True. You better not screw up."

"Come on, this is Shade Black you're talking to."

"Whatever."

"Trust me, I'll do it well."

"So, who do you have to spy?"

"Just some students of the school."

"How so they look like? Maybe I can help."

"I don't need help for this, thanks."

"Then just tell me how they look like, describe them."

"Err...." I started. Hurry Shade, you have to think! "Well, I have to spy on two girls that have short black hair and quite tall." I lied.

"That's it? Can't you be more descriptive?" Sabrina asked, unimpressed.

"Uh... They're a little plump?" I lied again. "Oh and they are older than us."

"You're rediciulously rediciulous." Sabrina crossed her arms and walked out. I rolled my eyes and took out the picture again.

I starred at it. Oh Jessica and Jenna, why do I have to do this to you. Maybe I can mislead Pitch by showing him a different house on where they live. It will buy some time to give a warning. The problem is, will the rest believe it? That a man named Pitch Black is after them and their parents? My friends could think I have gone cuckoo. It's worth a try anyway.
