Chapter 62: School concert
*Time skip all the way till end of month*
Third Person POV
The main hall was lit up brightly as many parents began to fill up the main hall. They took their respective seats and patiently waited. Jack, Elsa, Hiccup, Merida, Eugene, Punzie, Kristoff and Anna arrived. Jenna, Kristen and Henry followed behind them. Plenty were with cameras or phones, ready to take a picture or a video of this memorable ceremony.
Backstage, every graduate was getting ready. Harold helped Elijah with his hat and clothes. Jessica helped Kristine with her hair.
"Are you guys ready?" Eliza asked.
"N-Nervous." Elijah stammered.
"I got cold feet." Harold chuckled. "I just hope I will be able to remember everything for the speech later."
"Yeah, you will need all the luck you can get! The speech comes first which means you're up first." Kristine stated.
"Hey everybody!" Shade said, walking towards them with Sabrina. "Fancy looking clothes huh?"
"They're called graduation clothes." Harold corrected him.
"Whatever, I hate these long robes. And this hat!" Sabrina complained. "I look like some sort of a sick person."
Jessica stood up and faced the rest. "I've brought a couple of dresses for the dance just in case any of you don't have perfect ones!" She announced proudly. "So, Eliza, Kristine, Sabrina?"
"Um... I think I'm good Jessica. Or should you be the judge of my dress?" Kristine asked and Jessica quickly nodded. "Girls, get your dresses!"
And so they did. Eliza brought her dress up, a sparkly light blue dress. Kristine's was a mixture of pink and green. Sabrina just held up a simple black dress. "Sabrina!" Jessica exclaimed.
"Yeah, I know, it's not your taste, isn't it?" Sabrina asked. "Black IS my colour. Besides, there aren't many choices for dresses. As if father would buy a dress for me."
"Hold up! I got something just for you!" Jessica said.
"Wait, I don't want such bright colours, will it be ok? I kinda like dark, like black." Sabrina stopped her.
"But of course. I kinda figured you liked dark colours, but I have something even better and I'm sure you would agree with it. Wait here!" Jessica dashed away.
"So, what did you boys bring?" Kristine asked.
"Huh, we boys don't have to dress up like you girls. You girls get too technical with what you wear." Elijah huffed. "All we need is a long sleeved shirt and long pants, done!"
Jessica came back with a dress. "What do you think of this?" Jessica asked excitedly, holding a dress of a mixture of white and black. The top of the dress was white, then it slowly travels to black as it goes down.
"WOW!" Kristine shouted.
"Um... I guess?" Sabrina asked. "Yeah sure, it looks great. Thanks."
Jessica squealed excitedly, which got Shade a little annoyed. "Is that what most girls do or what?" Shade asked.
"Sort of." Eliza replied.
"All right, run down on schedule please!" Harold stated.
"Simple, first is your speech." Elijah said.
"Then all graduates gather on stage. We will receive certificates and stuff." Harold said.
"Then the principal will talk." Shade said.
"Then the dances." Eliza said.
"Then the singing." Jessica said.
"Then the comedy talk." Sabrina said.
"Finally, the play." Kristine said.
"So, let's make this the best concert of all!" Jessica pumped her fists in the air.
The teachers joined all the students backstage. "Is everyone ready? We will be beginning in around five minutes!" A teacher announced. "Is everyone in their graduation robes already?"
"YES!" Everybody replied.
"Right then, where is Harold?" He asked.
Harold raised his hand as he headed to the teacher. The others wished him luck. "You'll do great!" Elijah stated.
"All right, let's do this." Harold said to himself.
In the main hall, the stage lit up. A microphone was placed on the stage, in preparation for the speeches. A few teachers helped with the lighting of the stage, making sure everything was in order.
Time was up and every graduate took their positions. As soon as Harold finishes his speech, they will have to go on stage. Harold took a deep breath, and headed to the microphone.
"Good evening friends, family, teachers. First of all on behalf of the entire batch of 2015, I would like to welcome you to the graduation ceremony of the class of 2015. I am Harold Haddock, and I am honoured to have the opportunity to speak today. I would like to thank (and I am sure my classmates join me in this), our parents, teacher, friends, and family for the guidance they have given us and the patience they have shown in teaching us things that we will take with us as we step into the big world.
It feels like just yesterday we waked into the doors of this school. None of us knew of all the things we would accomplish, as individuals, or as a whole class. We had no idea we'd have to overcome so many challenges, or work so hard to get to were we are today. Though it may not have seemed like it to us then, we were just kids, taking our first steps into the real world. Of course, we didn't go through this all on our own. We had the guidance and motivation of teachers, loved ones, and of course, our parents. Without your strong faith in us we'd not be here before you, graduating today.
Let's not forget all of the friends we've made in the past few years here too. Many friends have come and gone, and for some of us, this could be the last time we ever see each other, face-to-face. But the memories of our time here will never leave us, and hopefully the bonds we have made will stay strong too.
Now parents, I'd like you to take a look at the graduates sitting before you today. Did you ever imagine we'd accomplish this much, and make you so proud? I hope you all know, though, that it was you, always pushing us to do our best and making us strive to go the extra mile, which put us on this stage today.
Thank you all for your time. Now, I'd like to present to you the graduating class of 2015."
Everyone began clapping as graduates walked on stage. Harold quickly took his position with them. Many parents stood up, taking pictures of their children. The principal, along with a few teachers, stood in front of the students.
Then, each student came forward, receiving a certificate by the principal. Camera and phone flashes were everywhere. After receiving their certificates, the students walked down the stairs of the stage and quickly got changed for the next event.
After the principal finished speaking, it was time for the partner dance. Every couple was required to hold each other's hands as they went on stage. Reluctantly, Kristine held Zack's hand. "You look beautiful." Zack complimented.
"Don't say anything." Kristine snapped.
Eliza came along with Shade. "Break a leg!" Eliza said.
"You too!" Kristine smiled.
Jessica with Michael, Elijah with Nicole, Sabrina with Kevin, joined the rest, lining up. "Ready to rock this?" Elijah joked with Nicole.
"So ready." Nicole laughed.
All couples went forth and took their positions on the stage. Jessica already managed to catch sight of Jenna along with her family the minute she entered the stage. The music started and everyone danced.
After that, everyone cheered. "All right Jessica, go on for your next dance!" Eliza smiled.
"Come on Sabrina, we gotta get ready for our song with the other students." Kristine beckoned.
With three gone, Eliza, Elijah, Harold and Shade stood backstage. "Well, I'm done." Harold sighed.
"Come, with the time we have, we can practice for the play. We have plenty of time since there's singing and comedy talk in line." Shade suggested.
"Join us, Harold!" Elijah stated. Harold smiled and walked along with them. They found a corner and decided to have their practice there.
In front, Jenna was cheering for her sister. Punzie and Eugene recorded everything of the dance. When that finished, the solos did their part, then it was the group song. Kristine and Sabrina happily walked on with the other students. Anna clapped as loud as she could. Little did everyone know Pitch was just sitting there, glaring.
Sabrina noticed Pitch was quietly sitting in a corner, the look of anger was clearly shown. Nevertheless, she ignored him and sang her heart out with Kristine. After they were done, Kristine, Sabrina and Jessica went to find the rest who were rehearsing.
"Hey, how did it go?" Shade looked up.
"Awesome!" "Great!" "Wonderful!" Jessica, Sabrina and Kristine said at the same time.
"All right, with you guys here, we can do more scenes." Elijah stated.
*Time skip*
"Cast for the play, please gather immediately." Mrs Margaret announced and everyone did so. "All right, all of you have around 10 minutes and you're up, so please make sure you are ready."
"Comedy talk ends in 7 minutes, ish, 3 minutes of stalling." Harold said to the rest.
"Stalling." Elijah laughed.
"You guys better fix yourselves up first." Jessica stated. "I'll help."
It finally came down to the play. Kristen, Jenna and Henry were super excited and they couldn't wait for it to start. Jack and Elsa smiled at each other and waited along with the rest.
This was pretty much what I had back in elementary school but I don't exactly know how to explain what goes on in a school concert/graduation ceremony!
