Chapter 55: Rehearsal

Harold's POV

It was after school hours and we were in the main hall again, I was looking through my welcome speech, memorising it. It was pretty hard with Elijah grumbling non stop. Everyone was already given their scripts this morning and Elijah practically fainted looking at them.

"This isn't a script for a play, it's for a movie! Look at all this! More like a two hour movie!" Elijah exclaimed.

"Well, there are plays that are more movie-based. I've seen a couple of plays online, they were like a movie, really interesting." Kristine explained. "And besides, this play is crazily interesting!"

"Yeah, can you even believe the plot?! It suits us way too well!" Eliza smiled.

"It doesn't just suit you, it's basically a part of you!" Jessica supported. "This play is gonna be the best of the best!"

"My point is, there's a lot to say!" Elijah groaned.

"They don't call you the main characters for nothing." Shade laughed.

"Whatever, Marquis." Elijah joked.

"Oh yeah, Jayden? I'm coming after you!" Shade said.

"I, Liana, as Jayden's protector, is responsible to protect him from evil sources!" Kristine spoke up.

"As if you can protect him from us." Sabrina giggled softly.

"By the forces of magic, charge!" Eliza joked.

"Good luck Cadence." Sabrina smirked. "You're gonna need it!"

After around 10 minutes, they decided to give it a try. By my calculations, I don't think they even manage to memorise the script for two scenes. Jessica and I held their scripts and observed if anyone said anything wrong. Elijah screwed up big time, he always ended up laughing and couldn't be serious. Come on guys, your rehearsal starts in five minutes! The rest of the cast were already present, everyone was memorising hard too.

The time was up and everyone for the play headed up to the stage. "Good luck." I said to them.

"Well, I'm gonna practice my dance steps and see the rehearsal at the same time, what about you?" Jessica asked.

"I have this speech." I replied. "But it's pretty easy."

After a while, I turned my attention to the rehearsal. I don't exactly remember what scenes there were in, there was too many. Katy, Eliza and Elijah were doing their part now. "What's the scene again?" I asked Jessica.

"When they begin to know each other, I think." Jessica replied. "Where are the scripts? It should be there."

"The scripts are with them." I said, pointing to the rest. "And apparently, none of them memorised it properly." I chuckled.

"It's their first rehearsal, what do you expect?" Jessica crossed her arms. "Besides, with the joker, Elijah, he doesn't take it too seriously."

"He didn't even want to be in the play until Eliza made him do it." I added.

"Wait, what's your reason for not joining in the play?" Jessica asked. "Eliza did beckoned for both of us that time, I wanted to do the outfits, what about you?"

"I just didn't wanna be in it." I replied. "I guess I'm a little shy for that."

"Shy?" Jessica laughed. "Dude, you are in charge of the welcoming speech! You will be all alone on the stage at that time, speaking to the audience! At least for a play, I'm sure you would be accompanied with someone."

"Ok, ok! I just don't know! I don't want to be in it, that's all?!" I snapped.

"Or is it that you find it weird being in a play? Some people are like that because they can't get into the spirit of saying the scripts in the mood. When you have already been assigned to say a particular line to a particular person, you just can't get used to it." Jessica stated.

"Have you been doing researches on plays?" I giggled.

"Probably?" Jessica smiled.

Mrs Aurora and Mr Phillip came. "There you are Jessica, the rehearsal for the dance is about to start, so please head over there." Mr Philip said.

"Which dance? Cause Eliza, Elijah, Shade, Sabrina and Kristine are still on their play rehearsal." Jessica asked.

"Oh, today's rehearsal won't be the dance partner one. It's the other dance." Mrs Aurora replied.

"Ok then, later Harold!" Jessica said and walked away. I waved at her and looked back at the play.

Kristine was arguing with Zack, I think it was one of the scenes those two had. Eliza and Elijah were just standing right in front of them, dumbfounded. Then, Elijah messed up his line, AGAIN. Eliza gave him a hard nudge, signalling it was her turn to speak.

"Uh... Cut please." Kristine slammed her hand to her forehead.

"I for one, can't take it any more." Eliza mumbled.

"Come on Elijah, stop messing up your lines!" Zack complained. "I already lost count on how many bloopers you had."

"There's so much to remember, what do you think I am?!" Elijah shouted. "There's a first time for everything!"

"Now now then, don't argue." Mrs Margaret said. "We'll take a quick break."

I went over to the rest who were sitting down. "So, didn't go out too well huh." I said to them.

"Thanks to him." Eliza pointed to Elijah.

"Hey!" Elijah pushed her. "I feel too robotic just saying what I know! Besides, we have to act serious and all, can I not laugh?!"

Helen came and tapped on Eliza's shoulder. "Eliza? Can I go through the lines with you please?" She asked.

"Sure!" Eliza stood up and walked with her.

"One down." Elijah muttered.

Kristine gave him a hug from the back, which got Elijah startled. "What are you doing?!" He asked.

"I'm doing what I have to do?" Kristine replied. "I have to give you a stupid hug in the play, urgh!"

"What?! Now which scene is that?!" Elijah scrambled his papers.

"When you come to Avonlea with your sister." Kristine crossed her arms. "Liana's character suits me all right, she's cheerful and bubbly and a little crazy. Which gets Duncan annoyed because of this."

"At least you don't have to hug Zack." I laughed. "Elijah's already good enough."

"Yeah, true." Kristine smiled.

"Oh ok, so when you do that, I have to act all weird like I don't even know who you are and try to pull away from the hug, right?" Elijah asked.

"You don't try to pull away from the hug, you just gotta give a weird look." Kristine corrected.

"I. Hate. This. Play." Elijah said firmly. "Especially being a main character."

"You don't have a choice." I comforted him. "There was no way you could have backed down, it required twins!"

"Exactly! I hate it." Elijah groaned.

"It will be fine, all it takes is time and you will get used to your role." I smiled.
