Chapter 53: The life we live in

Sabrina's POV

"You're kidding, right?!" Father yelled and Shade and I.

"Um, would we kid something like that?" Shade reasoned.

"Now why in the world would you even sign up for that stupid stuff?!" Father shouted.

"Dancing ain't stupid, father!" I snapped. "Besides, have you ever not been in a play before?"

"As a matter of fact, I haven't! And I never wanted to be in one either!" Father replied.

"What is wrong in taking part in the school concert?" Shade asked.

"You'll get a whole lot of attention all right!" Father said. "And-"

"We aren't the main characters!" I cut in. "Both Shade and I are just the antagonists."

"Yeah!" Shade supported. "We would probably get a lot of hate instead." He giggled.

"Well, who's the main character?" Father crossed his arms.

Shade and I fell silent. Father looked sternly at us, waiting for an answer. I gulped, not knowing what to say. If we tell, he'll go all mad. But if we don't tell, he would also go mad! Great, now what?! "Well?!" He shouted.

"It's... Eliza and Elijah." Shade said softly.

"Great, wonderful, just perfect." Father snapped and went into his room and slammed the door.

"Um..." I blurted out.

"Oh well, I expected that anyway." Shade sighed.

"I guess, everything we do is just wrong." I chuckled.

Shade gave me a thumbs up sign and I headed to my room, throwing myself on the bed. There was so much to handle and I hate it. For instance, our crazy father. Every time he snaps the world goes upside down. Then tables and chairs and pretty much everything in the house gets kicked, punched and some will break. Then that is when duct tape comes in.

Next? I don't even know what to say. There's too much to list out. Let's see...Then there's Jack Frost, father's arch/swore enemy. It's every single day he complains and he's getting Shade and I really frustrated. I just can't stand my life any longer, not with a person like this in my life. I used to think Shade was annoying, but boy was I wrong, someone else topped the chart. I guess I finally accepted Shade the way he is and I think I'm cool with it.

Shade came into the room, not before knocking. "Hope I'm not bothering?" He smiled.

"Nope." I smiled back.

"Don't even say it, I know what you're gonna complain." Shade sat beside me. "I too am frustrated, frustrated with my life. I didn't ask to be made by a crazy maniac who thirsty for vengeance!"

"Yeah, we weren't even meant to exist in this world. One of the joys of being me." I sighed.

"What do you think? Was it a mistake for you to live? Was it a mistake that Pitch made us?" Shade asked.

"Well..." I thought for a moment. "I don't exactly know. There was good and bad in this life that I lived. The horrible life we live in..."

"I guess since we came to this world, we might as well just do what we have to do, but do the right thing!" Shade stated. "I've read a lot about the meaning of life, everyone came to the world for a reason."

"And what will that be?" I asked. "We were made Shade, not born. We don't have a mother, or a father I might add. Sometimes, father doesn't treat us as his children, more like servants."

"Don't even bring that up." Shade clapped his ears. "Oh the horror years back! Like... The so called, missions that were given."

"Yep." I said, popping the p.

"Have you regretted living?" Shade asked.

I was surprised by his question. Those books about life have really got into him. "Half and half." I simply replied. "I can't stand the family I live with. That does not count you in, Shade. Then there's this wonderful bunch of people who are willing to help to get rid of your spell, although you have pretty much solved it yourself."

"Just say friends for goodness sake!" Shade exclaimed. "They have all accepted you as a friend, it's about time you do the same."

"Whatever." I rolled my eyes.

"So, what else? We live with an abusive man?" Shade said.

"Probably. Scratch that, yes." I replied. "How's your elbow?"

"Still hurts, but it will do fine. What about you? Your foot?"

"Well as you can see, it's still bandaged!"

"I'm asking if you feel better with it! Your foot really got hurt that time, you could have broke a bone at that time! Intense bleeding and all. No thanks to Pitch."

"Well, this is our life. Our everyday life. I'll see how many more scars, bruises or wounds are gonna end up on me."

"I just can't wait to grow up and leave here! I can't stand getting injured nearly every single day!"

"Hey, you could have already done that ages ago. Plenty of people have ran away from their homes."

"Like I would survive the outside world at this age! Besides, I'm taking you along with me! I ain't letting you suffer too. No brother in the world leaves his sister! No man in the world should do that to a lady too."

"I think you read too much."

"Excuse me? Those books had nothing to do with what I said."

"Never mind. So, you got big plans for the future already?"

"Not yet, but the first step is definitely leaving here!"

"Wow, what a plan."

"No banter!"

"I have the right to say what I want to say." I joked.

"You are so on!" Shade said.
