Chapter 52:Disrupted harmony

Elsa's POV

"I still can't believe you went straight to Pitch without even checking!" I said to Jack.

"I was concerned about your safety, that's why I wasted no time!" Jack argued. "I was worried that Pitch might have done something to you already!"

"Well he didn't! Next time, try checking the whole house!" I shouted.

"I was yelling and shouting for your name when I entered the house!"

"Well it wasn't loud enough then!"

"If you didn't drop the letter on the stairs then yes, I would have checked the whole house!"

"You still should have checked everywhere before taking actions."

"Excuse me? The more time I waste, the more time you could have been in danger!"

"Oh quit it!"

"Hey, at least some good came out of it!"

"What good?! You could have been killed!"

"Well, Pitch was coming to kill us that night! With me going to look for him, he abandoned his plan!"

I was just about to speak when the door opened, revealing Eliza and Elijah. "Hi mummy, daddy." Eliza said. "We're back."

"Oh um, kids! You're back." Jack exclaimed. "So, why did you have to stay back in school this time?"

Eliza and Elijah grinned at each other. "It was for our graduation ceremony plus rehearsals and shows." Eliza explained. "Both me and Elijah signed ourselves up for a dance and we are in a play!"

"A play? What will you be playing as?" I asked.

"Oh it's a secret." Elijah tried to cover his smile. "But, both of us are the main characters."

"Main characters? That's great!" Jack said. "Both of you shall shine like stars then!"

"Thanks daddy." Eliza smiled and dragged Elijah away.

There was an awkward moment of silence. "So... Am I forgiven?" Jack asked.

I was boiling with anger. "No." I said firmly. "Even if you are that crazy, that was way too much, Jack Frost!"

"Elsa, must I repeat the story again or what?!"

"No you don't have to!"

"That means you understand, right?!"

"I understand that you just nearly killed yourself at that time!"

"To save you! Even though you weren't exactly in Pitch's hands..."

"Exactly!" I snapped.

I went straight to the room, slammed the door and locked it, leaving Jack. I just can't stand him! Why in the world did he have to do that?! I don't care for his dumb explanations, they're all not right! Urgh he's such an idiot. In anger, I froze the room. "Elsa?" I heard a knock on the door. "Look I'm sorry, ok?"

"Shut up Frost!" I yelled. "I don't want your apology!"

Jack's POV

Woah, Elsa's really really mad at me. Harmony in the house was totally destroyed since I came back last night. I just can't piece it together on why she hates me that much. Sure, I went to Pitch and she said I might have been killed. But hey, Pitch Black can't kill Jack Frost!

I headed to the living room and passed by Eliza and Elijah's room. I could hear them whispering. Is it about the play? Cause I wanna know what roles they're playing! Like a stalker, I quietly placed my ear at the door.

"Is it quiet already?" I heard Eliza whisper.

"I think so, no more shouting." Elijah whispered back.

"What are we gonna do?! What are we gonna do?! If mom and dad keep fighting like this, we're toast! They just need to stop fighting and make peace!"

"I know sis, but what can we do?! It's all up to our parents to decide."

"Gosh, sometimes I never understand mom. One minute she's chill, the next minute she goes into a total outrage."

"You women are always like that."

"Hey!"

"Kidding. NOT!"

"I'll kill you for that!"

"There, see? That's a total outrage."

"Whatever."

"Do you think it's safe to go out?"

"Of course it is, now that it's all quiet."

"I'm just worried."

"There's nothing to worry about, Elijah."

"I don't know... Oh well, at least it's worth a try."

I backed away from the door and tried to look as normal as possible. Nope, I wasn't, I was striking the most unnatural pose ever. Elijah caught me red handed. "Uh... Hey." I blurted out and mentally faced palmed myself.

"H-H-Hi daddy." Elijah stammered and quickly walked away.

I sighed. This fight with Elsa has got the kids scared too. I slowly pushed open the door and Eliza was on her bed. "You're done- Oh! Dad?" Eliza said, surprised. "Can I get you anything?"

"No Eliza." I replied. "I just want you and your brother to calm down for now, all right?"

"But, you and mom have been arguing the whole day and last night too! We could hear it from our room." Eliza protested. "We heard everything when we came home. Elijah decided to quickly end the argument by opening the door."

"Well, your mother is pretty feisty right now. Give her some time and she will be fine." I assured her.

"But dad, what if mom doesn't calm down?" Eliza asked. "What if, both of you become like grandfather and grandmother?"

That was a question I couldn't answer. I fell silent, I too was afraid. I know Eliza is horribly worried that Elsa and I would end up like my parents, divorcing. But that won't happen, right? RIGHT?! Oh gosh I am so losing it! Come on, Elsa isn't that kind of girl. I told myself to snap out of it. Come on Jack, cool it! You'll be fine, you'll be fine! Elsa will be fine! This whole family will be fine!

Elijah stood at the door but he then came in. "Ah good, one more person to keep me company." I joked.

"What in the world did you say?" Elijah crossed his arms, looking at Eliza. She whispered into his ear and I'm guessing she told him everything. "Wait what?!"  Elijah blurted out. "No, that's not gonna happen, right?! Dad?!"  He turned to me.

"Uh... " I was lost for words. "Well I hope not."

"No, no, no, you can't do that with mom!"  Elijah said. "If, if, if! I think I'm going to pass out."

"Is there nothing we can do to console mommy?"  Eliza asked. "I wouldn't want a broken family."

"Well, I don't know if she'll listen to anyone right now!"  I replied. "Calm down, we will be in perfect harmony again soon.... I hope."

"There's just too many things going on right now." Elijah sighed. "I mean like, we have will scripts to remember soon, school work, an enemy of our parents and now? Our parents are on the verge of falling apart."

"Well, no point grumbling about it, it wouldn't change anything." I wanted to change the subject. "So, will you tell me what roles you play?"

"NO!" Eliza and Elijah said at the same time and laughed. "It's a..." Eliza started. "Secret." Both of them said in unison.
