Chapter 44: Turn that frown upside down
Kristine's POV
I feel like I'm such an idiot. I shouldn't have endangered my friends, now they're in big trouble thanks to me! I could have stopped the spell on Shade becoming stronger myself, I wouldn't have needed to trouble the rest and get them into this mess! I should have just faced the situation myself, even if that means putting myself in danger but hey, it's better than putting more in danger.
I have always looked on the positive side of everything but this? I just can't find any light in it. Other than Shade's spell didn't get stronger. As fun and life risking it was to play a couple of pranks on Pitch, it wasn't quite worth it, come to think of it. The thoughts of seeing my friends all being knocked out except for Eliza and I gave me shivers.
I continuously blamed myself for all this despite the rest say it isn't. Deep down I know it is my fault. When Eliza got captured by Pitch, I just froze there! I didn't know what to do, whether to run or save her. In the end I ran and hid, abandoning my friend. See? That's a very irresponsible thing to do! I don't care if Eliza told me to go at that time, I shouldn't have just left her in Pitch's hands.
After I informed my parents, which was pretty crazy. I quickly said it out and they quickly understood, luckily. I wanted to go find another place to hide after that, thinking of a plan. Unfortunately, a dark presence was behind me and the next thing was BAM! I entered a world of darkness.
I wished I knew what happened next, but that hard bang on the head really hurt. Even after Shade woke me up, I was still spinning. Seeing all our parents made me feel so relieved. Sabrina did ask me on what they were doing here though. I chuckled and patted her back, totally ignoring her question.
Anyway, back to the present. So once again I sat at the far conner of the room. I needed some time alone to think this out. "Kristine?" I lifted my head up and saw Sarah.
"Yes?" I mumbled, wanting to put my head down.
"It's just... Don't you always sit with Jessica for this class? Are you ok? You look a little sick." Sarah said.
"I'm fine. I just want to be alone for now." I forced a smile.
"Are you sure?" Sarah questioned.
"100%." I replied.
"Did you two fight or something?" Sarah asked.
"No why?"
"Well other than you two fighting, I can't think of what else would separate you two."
"It's... Personal. Nothing to do with my friends."
"Kristine, remember, a problem shared is a problem halved. Talk to your friends, they'll make you feel better."
"Say, I think you make a good counsellor, Sarah."
"Really? Um, L-O-L, I don't want to be one when I grow up. But, I'm sure you, will make a good counsellor, considering that you're happy and cheerful like 24/7. Other than today though."
Both of us giggled and Sarah gave me a comforting hug. Thanks, I said in my mind. "Now, that's the Kristine I'm used to seeing!" Sarah smiled at me.
"New look, deal with it." I joked.
"That's my girl." Sarah patted my back. "The girl that you should be!"
I grinned and Sarah sat down. "So, can you tell me about your problem?" Sarah asked.
"Sarah, it's... Personal." I muttered. "And very, very private. It's not that proper to tell you." I said as I thought of Pitch, powers, and the rest.
"Do you know something? I just thought of a song." Sarah burst out laughing. I gave her a weird look. "It's personal, myself and I, we got some straightening out to do....." She sang.
"And I thought I miss you like a child misses their blanket, but I've gotta get a move on with my life...?" I continued, still trying to identify the other parts of the song.
"It's time to be a big girl now, and big girls don't cry..." Sarah comforted me.
"Aww, thanks Sarah." I gave her another hug.
"It's ok. I respect your privacy." Sarah smiled. "No worries at all!"
Jessica's POV
Kristine seems really happy right now. I don't know what in the world Sarah said to her but it worked like a charm! I have GOT to thank her later.
Zack was poking his head around, trying to see. I pushed him away in annoyance. "Ahem, don't be a stalker!" I huffed.
"Oh really? Then why don't YOU keep your distance as well?!" Zack challenged. "You are a stalker too ya know."
"It's a girl thing." I snapped.
"Girl or boy, I don't care!" Zack said.
"I said it before, one wrong move and you're gonna get it from me!" I took out a pencil and was ready to stab Zack.
"Oooh, a pencil, I'm so scared." Zack laughed.
"Blood will come out, I'm warning you." I glared at him.
"I'll tell you what's gonna happen all right, not coming out but coming in." Zack grabbed my pencil.
"Wha-" I said but Zack cut me off and pointed at the teacher that just came in. "Show's over." Zack concluded.
I glanced at Kristine and Sarah again. Kristine turned around and saw me. I waved a small hi to her and smiled. She did the exact same thing. Oh yeah, she's fine now. Better than ever. Wait till the rest find out!
