Chapter 43: Saddened Kristine
Harold's POV
So I didn't know what to do at all. After some heavy questioning, the day was all quiet. I spent some time with Thunderdrum to try to forget about my problems. I know that we were wrong for going to Pitch but it was our concern as a friend, that's why we went there.
The next day, Henry and I quickly ate our breakfast and walked out. We met up with Jessica and Jenna. "So, guess yesterday didn't go out too well?" Jenna broke the silence. I shook my head and sighed.
"I still think we did the right thing." Henry puffed. "We were worried about our friend."
"What we did, was just right and wrong at the same time." Jessica stated. I silently agreed with her.
We continued walking till we saw Kristine and Kristen. Jessica greeted them with a warm smile. "How are you doing?" I asked.
"Not too good." Kristen replied. We spotted Eliza and Elijah walking towards us.
"Sorry guys, if it wasn't for me none of this would have happened. I should have just did it myself instead of putting all of you in danger." Kristine finally spoke.
"Hey, don't worry about it." Eliza comforted her. "We did what we had to do."
"Yeah, there was nothing wrong in helping a friend." Elijah supported.
"I know but, look what I got you all into!" Kristine protested. "I'm pretty sure all of us got grounded or something."
"No worries." Jenna smiled.
We continued walking to school, still trying to comfort a sad Kristine. Elijah and I headed to our art class. "Damn, I can't stand it! I'm so used to seeing Kristine happy and joyful, not THIS!" Elijah complained.
"She'll get back to her usual self in no time." I wrapped my arm around his neck.
"What now?" Elijah sighed. "Teacher's late too." He glanced at my watch.
"I kept myself occupied?" I blurted out. "Keeping your mind busy is actually surprisingly amazing."
Jessica's POV
Kristine sat far away from us. She sat all the way at the corner. Eliza looked at her in disappointment." I don't get it, it wasn't her fault at all!" Eliza turned to me.
"It isn't, but she thinks it is." I sighed.
Someone tapped on my shoulder. I turned around and saw it was Sabrina. "Did I... Cause too much for calling her yesterday?" She whispered to me and pointed at Kristine.
"I don't even know what to say." I replied.
"How's Shade?" Eliza asked. "Spell free now?"
"Unfortunately no." Sabrina sighed. "Nothing different. The spell remains there, but still with its normal strength. Luckily father didn't make it stronger."
"I'm sure Kristine would be happy to hear that, why don't you go tell her? We need to cheer Kristine up, major." I suggested.
"Um, ok." Sabrina headed towards Kristine, she did seem a little reluctant. Eliza gave me a nudge that I didn't know why. I didn't bother asking either.
After our teacher came in and taught us and all, the bell rang signalling the next class. I heard Eliza let out a huff and a puff. I knew she hated that subject, I giggled in my mind. Sabrina turned around to us, shaking her head and pointing towards Kristine. Eliza groaned louder.
Next class was just me and Kristine. This is my chance to cheer her up? I wondered. "Good luck?" Eliza whispered to me. I nodded at her and waited for Kristine. She glumly took her books and walked out. I followed her from behind.
Once again, she entered the class and headed to the far end seat. Only to be stopped by someone, Zack. "Hey Kristine! Wanna sit with me?" Zack grinned. Kristine just shook her head and walked away.
I approached Zack, ready to give him a piece of my mind. Zack never changed, he's still after girls and we, especially Kristine will put on a fight if Zack goes too far. I grabbed his shoulder tight, glaring at him. He gave me a confused look.
"It's best, not to disturb her at the moment." I said to him. "You wouldn't wanna end up in the infirmary like before."
"It wasn't so bad other than just a little bit of blood coming out." Zack crossed his arms.
"Get on Kristine's wrong side and you're finished." I warned. "If you get on the right side then you'll be fine. At this point, she hasn't had a very good day so please don't bug her. A, she'll have an emotional breakdown. B, she'll kill you."
"Ok?" Zack sighed. "Can I... Sit with you then? As you can see from our short chat the only seat left is beside me."
"Fine, but no tricks." I stated. "One wrong move or one wrong word and you're so gonna get it."
Zack chuckled and walked to his seat. I placed my books down and sat beside him, still looking at Kristine. Oh Kristine, what can we do to cheer you up? You're always the one with the ideas on how to cheer someone up but why can't you cheer yourself up?
