Chapter 34: Begging to help
Elijah's POV
We were all walking to school and we met Sabrina and Shade. "Huh boy." I heard Eliza mumble. Kristine happily walked along with those two.
"Good morning!" Kristine greeted. With her bubbly and friendly character, she's taking the situation remarkably well.
"If it was a good morning, I wouldn't be here, walking to some dumb school." Sabrina snapped.
"Any luck on Shade?" Jessica asked.
"What does it look like?!" Sabrina shouted. My, she has a real temper. Shade was still with red eyes, damn.
"Please Sabrina, let us help you. Let us help bring back Shade together. That is all we want." Kristine pleaded.
"Working together is fun?" Eliza added.
"You're the one that like group work." I nudged her.
Sabrina didn't answer, she dragged Shade and walked quickly. Kristine went after them but Kristen grabbed her arm.
"Maybe she's considering your question?" Harold suggested.
"Chances are 99.9% she'll reject." I laughed. "What? It's true for a girl like her!"
"Leave the persuading to Kristine, she does it well." Jenna smiled and gave Kristine a high five.
"Usually, people beg FOR help, not beg TO help!" Henry exclaimed.
"You just gotta do what you gotta do." I sighed.
Harold and I went straight to our first class. Oh good, I'll sit with Shade. He just looked at me with his creepy red eyes and evil grin. Robot Shade is too scary. I did my best to give him a warm smile.
All of a sudden, Shade began to slap with himself. I gave a nudge to Harold. "Hey look." I whispered.
"Um... What?!" Harold looked at him in amazement. "Why is he hitting himself?!"
"Stop trying to take control you idiot. You'll make us look like idiots, just like you said before." A deep voice came from Shade. Oh, robot Shade can speak? I giggled in my mind. I heard Harold making some silent cheers.
Shade literally kicked down the table, causing a lot of attention. I'm just glad the teacher isn't here yet. A few students surrounded us. "What's wrong with him?" "Is he a lunatic?" "Hey didn't he do something like that that day?"
"What day?" I quickly asked Stella.
"Well that very day, Shade was hitting himself, then he yelled suddenly." Stella replied. "Kristine said he was sick."
Shade's eyes were back to yellow. The hitting and everything else stopped. "He's fine now, go back ." Harold said. I quickly grabbed hold of Shade as he almost collapsed.
"You ok?" Both me and Harold asked.
"Urgh..." Shade moaned. "Oh, Elijah! Harold!"
"You're back." I smiled.
"Taking control is hard, I looked like a total idiot just now didn't I?" Shade asked.
"Truth? Yes, you attracted a whole lot of attention." Harold answered.
"Oh... Not again. No teacher here right? Otherwise they think I've gone mad again. And that's one more trip to the infirmary." Shade sighed.
"Ouch. Well the good thing is that you cam talk like normal, you know like not one word then pause, and so on." I stated.
"Yeah, I have better control now, but each time I try to take control it's more obvious, like hitting and yelling. Shade said.
"Can you persuade your sister to agree to help with us?" Harold asked.
"She's been considering it, I've heard it with my own ears." Shade smiled.
"That's gonna be music to Kristine's ears!" I cheered.
Silence made its way throughout the room. Then I realized it was the teacher, Mr James. And I also realized it was Shade, he went back to blood red eyes. "Shade, don't try to take control for a while ok? You know how grumpy Mr James can be." I whispered to Shade although I'm not sure if he could hear me.
Eliza's POV
Kristine happily sat with Sabrina willingly. I just rolled my eyes and sat with Jessica. Will she manage it? I asked myself. Jessica comforted me and smiled. I looked at Kristine. She was talking to Sabrina but it doesn't look like much progress.
"You know what? Why don't you just stop throwing the same question at me?!" Sabrina loudly said.
"Well, as long as you give me an answer." Kristine stated.
"No." Sabrina snapped.
"Come on Sabrina, deep down I know you mean yes. All of us need help from others sometimes. Teamwork!" Kristine patted her back.
"I do not like team work." Sabrina brushed Kristine's hand off.
Jessica leaned in closer to hear the conversation. "Stalker." I joked.
"Ahem, it's called caring, and I wish Sabrina could just accept our help." Jessica chuckled. I rolled my eyes and played with her hair. I made a couple of pigtails on her hair. I know I wasn't supposed to do this, but I made some snowflake clips on her hair. Relax, I made sure no one was looking.
"Oh it's beautiful!" Jessica looked at it. "But you do know..."
"I know." I assured her.
"Just look at those two." Jessica sighed. "Kristine's efforts must be worth it."
I gave her the 'of course it will' look and crossed my arms.
