Chapter 32: Sneaking in
Jack's POV
Ok I know that I'm not supposed to be looking for Pitch but I just had to know what happened. So after work, I just went to Pitch's hideout without Elsa knowing. Don't think bad of me, I don't usually lie to Elsa!
I cautiously entered Pitch's house. Before I took more than 5 steps, a bright golden light surrounded the whole area. I hurriedly covered my eyes, what the heck is that?! Isn't Pitch's house supposed to be all dark and black, since when did bright things come in?
After that, I heard battle sounds. I made my way through Pitch's house. Well actually, it didn't look much like a house. I panicked like crazy when I saw someone and hid. I carefully looked, at first I thought it was Shade but no, it was another kid, she looks like Shade. His sister by any chance?
She was grumbling about something. "How long will this battle between father and that Sandman fella last?!" She looked at her watch. "SHADE! Oh wait, there's no one now that I can grumble my problems to. Robot Shade doesn't help, I need the old Shade, the good Shade back. Urgh I can't believe I am even saying this."
I was on pins and needles just waiting for her to go away. At least one thing is clarified, Pitch and Sandman are still battling, which basically means that he's still alive. My hand felt on something, I couldn't see what it was but I think it's a button. In curiosity, I pressed it. The wall behind me suddenly turned, flipping me as well. I ended up in a different part of the house. Oh, so was that some sort of a secret passage?
I made my way around and suddenly saw Pitch, I was just inches behind him. Now how did I not notice that?! Sandman was in front of him, battling. I steered clear of their attacks, it was a mess of sand everywhere, black and gold.
Ok, I've seen enough, I decided to go back home. There's no way I can do anything in the middle of this battle. Now, where do I go to get that button again? Or is there some other way to get out of here?
The minute I turned my back, I got hit from the back. "Ooof!" I fell down.
"What was that?" I heard Pitch's and Sandman's voice. I hurriedly helped myself up.
"Well, well, what do we have here?" I looked up and saw Pitch right in front of me.
"Um... I just here to see?" I blurted out. "I thought you were gone for good, I just came to... Check, confirm, that was true."
"Jack Frost!" Sandman exclaimed. "I thought I said never to return here?"
"Did you?" I asked, surprised. "Never mind, you can't argue with curiosity."
"Oh yes, I guess I will have to thank your curiosity then. I can finish my business now." Pitch crossed his arms.
"Wait, wait, wait! What did I just hear?" I burst out laughing. "Since when did Pitch EVER thank anyone?!"
"How can you even find humour in that?!" Pitch shouted and blasted some sand at me. I quickly created some ice in front of me to shield myself.
I raised my hands in surrender. "I just wanna get out of here! You two can fight till your heart's content!"
"Since you're already here, I might as well just kill you." Pitch rolled his eyes. "I'll let you get out of here, you'll go to heaven or hell."
"Fat chance!" I filled the whole room with ice. Pitch got blasted by Sandman. It was two against one.
"Give up?" Sandman asked. "It's not a fair fight now isn't it Pitch?"
"Who cares if it isn't fair?! I faced more than one person during a battle before!" Pitch snapped. "Stop trying to convince me, all right?!"
"Convincing doesn't help on Pitch Black." I said softly.
"You know, good." Pitch turned to me and shot off his sand at me. I swiftly dodged it. Oh, you heard? I asked in my mind.
The fight wasn't going too well. None of us were good at aiming. Like, I couldn't shoot properly. Make that all of us. I accidentally shot Sandman instead of Pitch a couple of times. And because I was standing in front/behind Pitch, some of Sandman's attacks hit me instead of Pitch. As for Pitch? He shot his sand all right, but it somehow reflected all over the room, with his sand coming straight back at him. I couldn't help but laugh every time that happened. "What is this? A room of mirrors since your sand bounces everywhere?" I asked, laughing.
"Shut up Jack." Pitch rolled his eyes and aimed a shot at me. I quickly made an block of ice underneath me to fly up a bit.
"Ha! That's the best you got?" I challenged. Pitch was just about to blast me when Sandman quickly sprang into action. THUMP! Pitch fell on the floor. Seconds later, the little girl I saw earlier came in. "Father!" She called out.
"Sabrina? What are you doing here?! Can't you see I have business to settle?!" Pitch snapped. Well, that's no way to treat your daughter, I thought.
"Do you even know how long you have been battling already?!" The little girl backfired. And THAT is also no way to treat your father, I thought.
"I don't care on how long it takes!" Pitch shouted. "What are you doing here then?!"
"Fine! I'll get to the point. How long more are you gonna keep Shade trapped inside his own body?!" Sabrina yelled.
During their father to child argument, I took the chance to try to find a way out of here. I went to Sandman. "Hurry Jack Frost, you need to get away from here. There's a way out over there." Sandman pointed.
"You too!" I grabbed his hand.
"No, I will stay here." Sandman said firmly.
"But-"
"No buts!" He cut in. "Now go, go! Time is wasting!"
Reluctantly, I obeyed. I made my way around and found the exit. I ran out of the house and started going back home. My, what am I supposed to tell Elsa about coming back this late?
