Chapter 23: The labyrinth (6)

Harold's POV

"So, you're telling me that your worst nightmare was-"

"Do not even get me started about it." Henry intruded my words. "I mean like, you said your worst nightmare was-"

"Ok, ok, do not get ME started about it as well!" I cut in. "I won't say, you won't say, deal?"

"Deal." Henry giggled. "Come on Skrill."

"You know, I'm thinking we should have just stayed at home. We just threw ourselves into grave danger!" I sighed.

"Duh! To protect our parents!" Henry said. "We do it in honour!"

Honour?! I yelled in my mind. Thunderdrum lightly banged his head into mine. "Yeah Drummy?" I asked.

"Hey, let's fly! Skrill needs a little exercise anyway." Henry suggested. He hurriedly got on Skrill's back.

"You ready?" I smiled at Thunderdrum and climbed on his back.

"Let's go!" Me and Henry said at the same time. Both dragons shot off like a bullet. "Woo hoo!" I said. With the wind in my face, awesome! "Go Thunderdrum!"

Henry and Skrill suddenly stopped. I looked at him weirdly and slowed down Thunderdrum. I turned back to him. "What is it Henry?" I asked in curiosity.

"It's just that..." Henry hopped down from Skrill. "I dropped this just now! How did it end up back here?!" He picked up a book.

"You dropped it, you turned around to pick it up, done." I shrugged.

"No, I dropped it when we first rode off! It wasn't very important so I decided to not bother about it. So... How did the book come here?!" Henry exclaimed.

"Um... I don't know." I finally said. "Never mind, let's just keep going."

"I'm leaving the book here." Henry sighed. "Let's just continue on foot."

I nodded and him and came down from Thunderdrum. "Don't worry, we will find the centre of the labyrinth." I assured Henry.

Both of us walked. Well, I walked, Henry ran. I did tell him to slow down but he didn't want to listen. We were going pretty much in a zigzag way. After left was right, then left, then right.

"I'm worn out." Henry finally said.

"Well, that's what you get for running!" I snapped. "Save your energy!"

"Yeah I know, we need to prepare ourselves for other traps." Henry rolled his eyes.

I shot him a glare and continued walking. Something caught my eye. I hurriedly walked towards it. "Henry?" I asked. "Isn't this... The book that you just picked up just now?"

"What is this sorcery?!" Henry shouted.

"This is spooky." I shivered.

"Leave it there! I don't wanna take a cursed book with me!" Henry backed away from the book.

I opened the book and read it. I was so busy reading that I didn't realise that Henry already ran off. "Henry? Henry!"  I shouted after finding out he was gone. "Skrill! You're still here, but where's Henry?"

"HENRY!" I yelled. "Where are you?!"  Oh no, is this trap number three? I asked in my mind. It is kinda similar to trap number one.

Minutes later, I heard loud footsteps. I got my guard on, ready to face whatever that was coming towards me. It literally crashed into me. "Wh-Wha-What?"  Was all I could say.

"Harold?" I looked up, revealing it to be Henry.

"Oh Henry, where have you been?! You had me worried sick!" I exclaimed.

"But, but, but! I ran off just now, I kept following the trail, how I'm the world did I run back here? To where you are?!" A confused Henry asked.

I put in deep thought to what he said. We followed the trail, we stumbled upon the book, Henry followed the trail, he came back to me.

"Uh... I think we are going in circles." Henry broke my concentration.

"You're right. If we keep following the only path there is, we would end up in the same place." I stated. "This path if just confusing us that we are going somewhere but we're actually not!"

Henry's POV

"How do we get out of this confusing trail then?" I asked.

"There must be another way... A way that is well hidden." Harold suggested.

"The walls!" I guessed.

"The walls? Yeah, maybe, let's give it a try!" Harold said.

"How do we give it a try?" I asked.

"Ready for some action, Skrill, Thunderdrum?" Harold grinned at the two dragons. "Let's try to blast these walls down."

"But Harold, we have already tried that since the beginning of this maze!"  I argued.

"Yes, I'm well aware of that. But there must be some sort of a secret passage that one part of the wall has got to be weaker." Harold explained.

"But... What if there isn't a secret passage?" I asked.

"Think positive!" Harold gave me a light slap.

I nodded at him and Skrill just shot off at the wall. It didn't budge. "Don't worry, at least we have a small mark to tell that we've been here, let's keep blasting down the walls." Harold comforted me.

Skrill and Thunderdrum made fireworks everywhere. What a show! The walls were on fire but none of them crumbled down or whatsoever. "Boy I wish I have a camera." Harold giggled. "What a beautiful scene."

"Who knew we could have some fun while being stuck in a maze?"  I chuckled.

"If Elijah was here, he would really make it super duper fun." Harold said.

CRASH! BOOM! A loud noise made me jump. "There it is!"  Harold pointed at a large hole in the wall. "Let's go!"  He grabbed my hand.

"Wait! What if there's a trap?" I asked.

"This is already a trap!" Harold replied. "We can go carefully then."

I popped my head and looked. Nope, nothing. "Coast looks clear." Harold concluded.

"I don't know, it looks... "

"Come on Henry, let's just go. This is the only way we will get out of here. We can't follow that trail, we have to go this one." Harold cut in. "Skrill and Thunderdrum have already crawled through the gigantic hole."

"Ok then." I sighed. We stepped in.
