Chapter 18: The labyrinth (1)
Elsa's POV
"Let's go." I beckoned to Jack and began walking.
"Urgh, I will kill Pitch the minute I see him." Jack groaned and blasted his powers at the walls surrounding us.
"It's made from nightmare sand, we can't destroy it." I said. "Let's just get moving to the centre of this labyrinth quickly."
Jack nodded and walked along with me. We walked to a very dark path where we couldn't see anything. I suddenly landed in a hole full of icy cold water, so did Jack. Of course to me, it wasn't cold at all. Jack quickly jumped out and helped me up.
I continued walking with Jack following. Something... Or someone had brushed up my leg. "Who's there?!" I said in panic. "Anyway, let's keep moving."
I turned behind me where Jack was supposed to be but he wasn't there. "Honey?" I called out. "Where are you?!" I yelled, trying to look into the dark alley.
Jack's POV
I opened my eyes and saw a face inches away from me. "Elsa?" I asked.
"Oh good, I found you at last!" Elsa said.
"Um..." I looked at myself. "Why am I tied up?"
Elsa shrugged and quickly untied me. "Let's get out of here."
"Thanks snowflake." I said to her.
"Any time Frost." Elsa giggled at me. We stood up and continued walking.
Elsa's POV
That Jack, where did he wander off to?! I walked back into the dark alley, searching everywhere. "Jack!" I yelled.
"Elsa?" Someone said from behind me. I turned around and saw Jack at the other end of the alley.
"Where have you been?!" I gave a slap to his face.
"Hey! I'm just exploring." Jack rubbed his face.
"Let's just continue. We need some light here." I let out a few spirals with my powers, lighting up the alley with a nice shade of blue. I walked down the hallway. Jack followed as usual but there's something different about him. I don't know how, but I just sense it.
Jack's POV
"Jack, look!" Elsa pointed.
"What?" I asked, looking at the direction she pointed. "Oh! Is this the centre of the labyrinth? Wait, that's a bit too fast. There must be a trap."
"Let's go!" Elsa began running.
I quickly grabbed her hand. Weird, Elsa's the one that is usually very calm and takes a lot of precautions. She's acting like this all of a sudden and I wonder why. "Careful, we must be very very careful, like you always say." I said. We slowly walked.
Elsa's POV
"Look!" Jack pointed.
"Is that... I don't know?" I asked.
"The centre of the labyrinth!" Jack exclaimed.
"Really? Wait, no. We only walked a couple of paces in this hallway, how can it be the centre of the labyrinth? It's too fast." I said.
Jack ignored me and began running. I followed him from behind. "This is one hell of a crossroad." I muttered.
"This is the centre of the labyrinth!" Jack snapped.
"No it's not! It can't be that easy. You think Pitch would make it that easy?!" I asked.
"Look around, there are so many paths, and they all lead to here. What else would this be if it isn't the centre of the labyrinth?!" Jack asked.
I kept quiet and walked towards a path. I am not convinced enough. I was just about to take a step when I saw myself.
Jack's POV
Elsa continued to run and I ran as well. Elsa suddenly stopped. I caught my breath and looked. In front of Elsa, was another Elsa! Both of them were staring at each other in astonishment. "W-What is going on?" I asked.
Both of us walked to the so called, centre of the labyrinth. I saw another me there! "IMPOSTER!" Both of the Elsa's said. "No, you're the imposter!" The Elsa beside me said.
"No, you're the imposter!" The other one said.
The other me walked up to me. "Who are you, you little liar?" He asked.
"You're the liar!" I shouted and blasted my ice at him. He immediately disappeared. He disintegrated into nightmare sand to be exact. "Now then ladies, which one of you is the real Elsa?" I asked.
"Me." Both of them said at the same time. Oh gosh, how am I going to tell them apart?! They look exactly the same!
"She's the imposter, blast her!" The Elsa at the left said.
"No, she's the one!" The other one shouted.
If I could, I wanted to blast both of them to find out. But if I were to do that, I would hurt the real Elsa. How about if I ask questions? I just fear that the imposter would know everything as well.
I turned to the Elsa on the left. "Um... What's my birthday?" I simply asked.
"The exact same date as me." She replied.
I asked the other Elsa. "What are our kids' names?" I desperately tried to think of some questions.
"Eliza Frost and Elijah Frost." She replied. "They're twins." Dang, she knew. I said in my mind. I gotta think of a harder question.
"How did my hair turn white?" I asked. Well Jack Frost, what a question. I mentally face palmed myself. Why am I even asking questions like this?!
"Because you got blasted my me." The duo said in unison.
Ok that's it. I lightly blasted both of them. Unfortunately, none of them disintegrated or whatsoever. "Wait, which one of you were with me just now?" I asked.
"Me, unlike the imposter over here." The Elsa on the right said.
Bingo. I said in my mind. I summoned all of my energy and blasted the Elsa that replied my question. Poof! She's gone. I ran and hugged the real Elsa. "How did you know?" Elsa smiled.
"When I found myself tied up and you, well, fake you, came and untie me. Then she started running without even thinking of safety. Which is something you would never do." I explained with a smile.
"I should have never doubted you." Elsa ruffled my hair.
"Excuse me? You've doubted me?" I crossed my arms. Elsa giggled. The paths suddenly disappeared leaving from 8 paths to only 2.
"Just as I guessed, it was an illusion." Elsa sighed. "This was how it actually looked like."
"Wait a minute..." I walked to the middle of the 2 paths. There was a note attached to the wall. I read it out loud.
If you can read this, it means you have survived trap number one, which is finding out who the imposter is. Don't celebrate just yet, there's more to come. Sincerely Pitch Black.
"How nice of him to leave a note for us." Elsa giggled.
"Oh no... Does that mean the others will have this trap as well?" I asked.
"Probably?" Elsa guessed.
"What if, they can't find out who the imposter is?!" I asked in horror.
"Well... Oh dear. But there's no way we can tell them." Elsa replied.
"I hope all of them survive trap number one then." I said.
"Don't worry, they will." Elsa assured me. "Now, we need to choose a way to go to get to the middle."
"I do not know which one to choose." I sighed. "Left or right?"
"Right? Well since it's the right way to go." Elsa chuckled.
"Let's go then." I held Elsa's hand and walked. A wall was immediately built behind us after two steps into the right path. "Great, there's no turning back." I muttered.
