Chapter 69: Gone but not forgotten
Elsa's POV
It's been a month since Tina's departure but none of us have let go about it. At least once a day we would talk about her. None of could forget about her.
All of us gathered back at the apartment with Anna and Kristoff. We wanted to visit Tina's grave today.
"Well..." Punzie broke the awkward silence. "Shall we be going soon?"
"I guess." I let out a sigh. "Its just that..."
"We know." Merida sighed as well.
I turned to Jack. "Are you ok?" I asked. Jack looked at me and said, "Do I look like it?" I patted his back and smiled a little. Tina's death hit Jack the most. Jack's smile disappeared ever since that very day. He was barely in any mood. Pretty much the same situation when his parents wanted a divorce, only much worse.
Jack wasn't the only one in a sad mood, all of us were as well. But Jack was the most extreme one. Punzie cried for three days in school and Merida got caught for not paying attention in class. Hiccup lost a sudden interest in his books for a couple of days, Eugene didn't pay attention in class either. Me? I lost a little bit of control with my powers every now and then.
After about 10 minutes, we decided to go. Anna and Kristoff grabbed the flowers and stuff. We went into two separate cars. Me, Punzie, Anna and Merida went into my car while the boys went into Hiccup's car.
It was a very silent drive to the cemetery. "Have any of you been to a graveyard before?" Merida asked.
"I have." Me and Anna said at the same time.
"I never been to one." Punzie replied. "It does creep me out going to one."
After half an hour, we arrived. We walked along as we found Tina's grave. Anna and Kristoff placed the white flowers in front of the tombstone. "In memory of a brave friend, Tina." Jack muttered.
I had painful flashbacks of how I saw Tina darted out from her hiding place and jumped in front of Jack. After all of us were covered in sand and I kept a watch on Tina. When Pitch pointed the arrow, tears immediately formed in my eyes. I wanted to stop Pitch but there was nothing any of us we could do. Anna's telekinesis didn't work much either.
Jack turned and glanced at me. I just stared at him in tears, was this the last time I would be able to see him? As Pitch pulled the arrow, I couldn't bear to look. I turned away and saw Tina, getting up and sprinting towards Jack. "Tina!" I whispered to her. What are you doing?! I yelled in my mind.
"NOOOOO!!!!" Tina shouted as she stood in front of Jack. The arrow struck her stomach but it was really close to her heart. I looked at her in shock. Everything happened way too fast. And I think Anna fainted for a split second, I'm not sure.
Then everything went wrong, Punzie couldn't heal her, Tina died right in front of us. Jack got into a fighting rage and let loose of himself. I was amazed with what I saw. That was the most powerful magic I had ever seen in all of my life. With Jack's ice hitting Pitch, it quickly released my powers from him and they were returned to me in a flash.
Back to now, Eugene comforted Jack. I turned to Punzie and she said, "At least we brought some justice for her."
"That's true." I said. "Although I still think I could have killed Pitch back then."
"No way Elsa, if you were to kill Pitch, you would have committed a crime as well." Merida joined in the chat.
"We let the authorities do their job. They have done their job on Pitch." Punzie stated.
"Yep, he got arrested, pressed with charges, and ended up in jail." Merida crossed his arms.
Anna hopped in. "That's a good 7 years for him in prison. Although I think it should be longer."
"Can't expect that much I guess." I sighed. "Maybe he might change after 7 years."
"I doubt that, for a cold-hearted person like that? No way." Anna said. "You all saw what happened back then, he mocked us after he killed someone."
Hiccup, Eugene, Jack and Kristoff joined us. "So, what now?" Kristoff asked.
"Why did she have to die?! Why couldn't it be Pitch?!" Jack groaned. "Why didn't Pitch get hanged or something?! 7 years ain't enough for that guy!"
Did I forget to tell you that Jack's been having mood swings as well? He's been like that every single day. Hiccup was always the one that managed to calm him down.
"You know, the weird thing is that we hated her and she hated us but now that she not here..." Merida scratched her head. "It's like feeling sorry for an arch enemy. But Pitch does not include in that!"
"Mer, it's because she used her life to save another's life." Punzie wrapped her arm around Merida. "It takes a huge amount of bravery to make a sacrifice for someone like that."
"If only I could have stopped the arrow with my powers, none of this would have happened! I could have done something but I didn't! I had the chance to turn the arrow's direction to Pitch instead! Why was I so clueless at that time?!" Anna started to blame herself, again. She's been putting the blame on herself because of Tina's death.
"Anna, it's not your fault, everyone was too shocked to do anything." I explained to her. "Besides, you couldn't see at that time. Plus that there was very limited time to think of a plan as we were worried about Jack's safety."
"Yeah but, out of everyone at that time, I was the only one and could use my powers! Telekinesis can't be stopped no matter what since the power's in your mind not hands or whatever like you guys! But what did I do? Nothing! Nothing at all!" Anna groaned.
Eugene cleared his throat loudly. "Look guys, we can't change the past, so please stop blaming yourselves. What's done has been done even though it's hard to face up to reality."
"Tina might have been gone from this world, but she's never gone from our memories." I tried to lighten things up.
"Gone but not forgotten." Hiccup added.
