Sirius had learned to be perfect from his family, so when he became friends with the Marauders, he tried his best to show only his best side of himself - especially around James, because he wanted to impress him -, but the other Marauders proved that it was okay not to be perfect

The way Regulus handled this "trying to be perfect"- thing, was very different, because people handle things with different ways. Regulus didn't socialise too much; people came to him more than him to them. The way he realised, was when he accidentally was imperfect, people didn't even care or notice.
