James was naïve. Very naïve if you were to ask Regulus. James still hadn't realized. James didn't have any suspicions. Regulus found it strange. James was so stupid.

James thought Regulus loved him. Regulus knew James loved him.

Regulus would always smile when he saw James. He would giggle softly and ran to him. They shared kisses, make outs and blow jobs. Regulus didn't love James. He only loved the idea of this being the reality, but with someone else.

Regulus would always pretend to admire James's bravery and ideas. Regulus would always inform the dark lord of James's plans. James wondered why the others didn't trust him. He wondered why his plans never worked.

James moved in with him and they bought a cat together.

Regulus remembers hearing James and Sirius argue in the livingroom.

"He's the traitor Prongs! Surely you know by now! He isn't who you think he is! I'm his brother, I know he doesn't give a shit about you. You are a game to him, James. You have to let me get rid of him-"

"Enough, Sirius! You don't understand him the way I do! He has changed"

"Fine then, if you don't believe me. It's us or him, your choice."

"That's not fair Sirius. You know I-"

"US OR HIM?!"

"HIM!"

"YOU ARE BOTH FUCKING TRAITORS! YOU ARE NO LONGER MY FRIEND, POTTER!"

Regulus remembers the door slamming so hard a glass dropped onto the floor and shattered. He could hear James crying. Emotions. Disgusting, really. Regulus couldn't bare hearing James be so phaetic. He wished the right time would come already so he could get rid of the shame of living with Potter.

Regulus ran to clean the shattered glass before the cat (which he had named Vela, after a star of course) would step on it. James walked over to him, sobbing. Regulus looked up and for a little bit he felt emphaty, but it was soon gone.

"He- he.. He-" James was sobbing so hard he couldn't speak propely. Regulus sighed and put the glass to trash and then he walked back over to James. Gently he placed his hand on the man's cheek and he kissed his nose. "Darling, I'm sorry I've out you through this. I promise I won't be upset if you choose them over me. It isn't fair of him to not accept us and make you go through this. He isn't worth keeping around if he is going to force us to separate" he whispered gently the words into the older's ear.

James sniffled and nodded, collapsing into Regulus's arms. Gosh, the things he has to go through to satisfy his lord.

The memories flashed in his mind as he walked into the room. James had been forced on his knees and his hands were tied behind his back. Nagini was circling him, hissing as she did. Voldemort was sat on a chair a few meters away from his pray and smiled as Regulus entered.

"Regulus, my boy. Welcome to the party. Not late by a second, like always" Voldemort said emotionlessly. Regulus bowed down towards Voldemort. "My lord, your presense is an honor" he said calmly. He raised back up and turned to look at James. The man was covered in wounds and bruises, but still he was looking at him like he had seen a ghost.

Regulus smirked at him, "What? You surely knew it was coming. My brother dear tried to warn you so many times too. I'm impressed of how loyal you stayed for me."

James let out a whimper, making Voldemort laugh. "But you loved me!" James yelled. "How can you still believe that?" Voldemort asked, "Even after so many things saying against it. Impressive, like said. So tell me, how does it feel to be in love?"

James squeezed his eyes shut and shook his head. "At first it was like heaven. But now I realized heaven doesn't excist here." Voldemort chuckled and nodded, "Any last words?"

James opened his eyes and looked at Regulus. "But why? Why did you do this to me? Why are you so cruel? How dare you?!"

Regulus tilted his head and gave him a small smile, "Have you heard of the saying... Keep your friends close and enemies even closer?" James's eyes widened and he cried more. "He's saving his own skin" Voldemort added. Regulus looked at the roof, not daring to look at James anymore. He felt something that people called guilt. Maybe he did the wrong decision in saving himself. But he wasn't brave. He was desperate.

"Nagini, dinner's set."

Regulus had nightmares of the scream of pain he heard that evening for the rest of his life.
