Memories
Katelyn ran up the stairs and plopped onto a random bed. Wow. These are softer than I thought, Katelyn thought wrapping a blanket around herself. She curled up slightly and rested her head on a pillow. I can't believe I saw Jeffory's weapon. He killed so many people with it. But he wasn't a murderer. It wasn't his fault, Katelyn thought squeezing her pillow trying to stop herself from crying. Stop crying Katelyn! You're strong! It's not your fault, not Jeffory's, It's Zane, Katelyn thought feeling tears cloud her vision. Stop it Katelyn! Don't cry! You are strong. Stop letting one pitiful emotion break you down, Katelyn thought angrily.
Katelyn was thinking to herself so much she had not realized Aphmau and Garroth had entered the room. Katelyn continued with her thoughts. Jeffory... Why did you go? Why did you care so much for me?! You had a wife, although she was dead, and you had Abby! Why did you make me go, Katelyn thought furiously tossing trying to get comfortable in her bed. After she had got comfortable, Katelyn closed her eyes. She felt sleep come to her, but she didn't dream, she was remembering. Memories.
Katelyn coughed and she wiped her nose with her sleeve. She had to continue her mission. She needed to complete this mission. It was dangerous, and she was very sick, but if she didn't go. Jeffory would. She didn't want Jeffory to go. She didn't want him hurt, she didn't want him gone. Katelyn was a bit dizzy but she tried to act fine.
"Katelyn?" A voice called and Katelyn, without warning, slashed at the voice. The person dodged and and gasped, "Katelyn! It's just me!"
It was only Jeffory the GoldenHeart. Katelyn relaxed herself and stopped a sneeze.
"Jeffory! I could have KILLED you!" Katelyn said angrily putting away weapons growling. Jeffory chuckled lightly and gave Katelyn a silly look.
"Oh sorry Katelyn. I had no idea you liked to give killing punches all the time, oh wait." Jeffory said smirking a little while Katelyn rolled her eyes in annoyance. That was Jeffory for you.
"Oh shut up Jeffory. What do you want?" Katelyn said coughing up her sleeve before looking at him. Katelyn realized she was feeling quite tired but she kept herself from letting her eyelids droop slightly.
"I can't say." Jeffory said simply smiling ever so slightly. Katelyn narrowed her eyes at him. What was he trying to do now?!
"Why?" I demanded him taking a step towards him. Katelyn admittedly shivered. Her legs felt like they were freezing and weak. Even when it was sunny outside. Katelyn must have had a fever. Jeffory bit his lip in an attempt to not laugh.
"Because you told me to shut up." Jeffory pulled a huge grin on his while Katelyn punched him on the shoulder, hard. Take that, Katelyn thought.
"OW!!! What was that for!?" Jeffory exclaimed instinctively grabbing his shoulder in pain. "That's going to bruise for sure!" Jeffory whined in pain rubbing his shoulder. It was Katelyn's time to smirk and grin.
"For being such an idiot." Katelyn said coolly not stopping herself from smiling. Suddenly she sneezed with a line of snot trailed out. Katelyn blushed in embarrassment as Jeffory handed her a tissue. Katelyn snatched it and admittedly wiped her nose with it and blew. She folded the tissue throwing it into the garbage can.
"Thanks." Katelyn said grimly looking at Jeffory. Please don't ask if i'm okay, Katelyn thoigh pleadingly. As if on que, her legs started to hurt but she ignored them.
"Are you okay Katelyn? I mean. I mean it's not everyday you blow--" Jeffory tried to finish his sentence but Katelyn interrupted him.
"Don't even finish that." Katelyn said. I hate you Jeffory, Katelyn thought angrily. "I'm perfectly fi--" Katelyn coughed multiple times before she could finish. "Fine." Katelyn said doubting Jeffory believed her. Jeffory brought his hand to Katelyn's forehead before Katelyn could grab his hand. When Katelyn did, Jeffory was concerned.
"Katelyn! You have a fever! You shouldn't go on this mission. You're too sick and it's too dangerous!" Jeffory said his voice filled with concern. Katelyn hated Jeffory sometimes, he cared to much.
"No It's not! I'm fine! I don't have a fever! I repeat, I don't have a fever!" Katelyn spat angrily glaring daggers at Jeffory. "I'm going on this mission, I will make it! You don't have to worry about a thing!" Katelyn said hotly turning around. She suddenly felt something grab her and pin her against a wall. Katelyn growled and struggled to try get away.
"Jeffory! Let me go!" Katelyn snarled trying get her hands free. But Jeffory kept still.
"No. Katelyn you're sick. You won't make it. I don't want you to die. Believe me, I know your strong. Bu-but this mission is dangerous, face it. I'm in a better condition than you to do this. Katelyn, I lo-- care about you greatly as a friend. I can't lose you. I'm going to return. Do you understand?" Jeffory said sternly. Katelyn glared angrily at Jeffory until she realized how close they were. Jeffory was almost pressing against her and they were inches apart. Katelyn could feel Jeffory's warm breaths on her face. Katelyn felt her face grow hot as she blushed.
Jeffory must have also realized because he stepped a little back but still held Katelyn in place. Katelyn knew it was weird and silly but she wanted to be in their original position but she ignored it. Katelyn opened her mouth to protest but Jeffory stopped her.
"Katelyn. Please. I can feel how you sick you are. You're burning. Your legs are freezing yet warm. You have a fever. It'll only get worse if you go. Your health is more important than this mission. Plus, what would happen if your family knew that you went with a fever and might not come back? I, will come back." Jeffory said. At the mention of her family, Katelyn looked down. Her family was the reason she joined the Jury, same with Jeffory. She knew if she was gone, so was her family. Jeffory was so reasonable, that was why she hated him so much, but it was also a reason she liked him. Katelyn sighed deeply and angrily.
"Fine." Katelyn said pushing Jeffory away. Relief washed over Jeffory's face. He hugged Katelyn.
"Thank you Katelyn. I'm sorry. I know you like to be the big boss and all." Jeffory joked, making a small smile to appear on Katelyn's face. "But I can't let you go sick." Jeffory said as he continued to hug Katelyn. Katelyn didn't hug him back, but she let him embrace her. His warm arms wrapped around her made Katelyn feel weird but good. I wonder what would happen if I kissed him. No Katelyn. Don't think about it, Katelyn thought to herself. She wished they could stay like this longer but they couldn't.
"See you later Katelyn. I will come back." Jeffory let go of her and left.
Katelyn tossed in her sleep. She hated the fate. Jeffory never returned. He never would. He said he would come back. But he never did. He died, Zane killed him. Katelyn fell into a troubling sleep.
