"Come on," I tell him running off to climb up the ladder to the first tower of the play gym. I look over and see him standing at the bottom just staring at me.
"Isn't this thing for kids? I thought adults aren't allowed up there?" he asks looking around at all the other few parental figures sitting on the nearby benches.
"Well, it's a good thing I'm still a teenager then, huh?" I ask rhetorically. He doesn't budge. I groan, "Come on, you have to be a kid once in a while or you'll spend the rest of your life wishing you were."
He rolls his eyes but grabs onto the wooden planks of the ladder, climbing up to meet me.
"Now that wasn't so bad, was it?" I ask with a fake pout. He rolls his eyes and stands next to me. I look over at Maddie and see her climbing on the mini rock wall with two other kids.
"So, what do you want in life?" He asks randomly and I stare at him confused.
"What?"
"Isn't this the moment we have a whole chat on what we want for our future, our high hopes in life when we're older?" He asks laughing with me.
I can't help but hum the melody to High Hopes by Panic! At The Disco after he said that.
He quietly hums the rest of the melody and my head snaps to him. He doesn't realize for a few seconds that I am shocked into silence. He looks over and raises an eyebrow.
"You like Panic! At The Disco?" My smile gets bigger. He nods his head slightly. "That is awesome that you finished the melody, people never do that, except for Liv if she knows the song," I ramble.
"I have an older sister who visits a lot and when she's at the house she's always blaring her music, and she did that when she was younger too so I could sing A Thousand Miles off by heart at this point," he shrugs.
"I would pay to see that," I laugh just imagining the scene unfold in my head.
"I'll even let my niece choreograph a routine for it," he suggests.
"Yes! I am in," I look out over the fields to the skate park where Tessa is busy kicking ass at showing off her skateboarding skills, Nathan notices my attention has been pulled and he looks in the same direction.
"Damn, your sister is really good," Nathan whistles lowly.
I nod my head in agreement, "Yeah, she's the sporty one in the family, she can do anything," I praise my younger sister.
"I thought Seb would have been the 'sporty one'?" He looks over at Sebastian who has taken it upon himself to challenge Tessa. I shake my head lightly, he's going to get his ass kicked.
"No, Seb is just the one who is obsessed with looking like the sporty one," I roll my eyes, "We all have our quirks, you know? Harry is the genius who was swimming team captain for his junior and senior year in high school; Sebastian is the baseball player; Sophie is the cheerleader who doesn't want to be the cheerleader; Tessa just does everything you tell her she can't, and Maddie is our little princess ninja, she just got her yellow belt in karate a few weeks ago," I finish off with a fond smile thinking of all my siblings.
"And you?" he asks quietly.
"I'm just me, I'm kind of 'just there'," I quote the stereotypical reply.
"Just there? You kicked everyone's asses at track last week, I wouldn't call that 'just being there'," he fires back.
"Thanks," I smile at him softly, quickly looking away. Get ahold of yourself girl! I hear Olivia yelling my name and I turn towards her, my heart beating faster at the urgency in her tone. I jump down from the play gym and walk towards her.
"Zach just tried to proposition Tessa and it's getting a little uncomfortable over there," Olivia bursts out, panting slightly out of breath.
"He did what? Does he realize she's barely fourteen? That piece of shit!" I yell stomping my way over to the skate park. I hear Nathan calling Maddie over but I'm too busy seeing red to comprehend what's happening.
I see Tessa standing a few feet away looking at Sebastian telling off Zach. Good.
"Hey, asshole! Don't you dare come near my sister, or matter of fact any of my sisters, again. I don't care if you're on the baseball team with Seb but you stay away from my sisters. She is fourteen and doesn't need to be tainted with your STD ass! Got it?" I threaten standing right in front of him. Even though he has a good couple of inches on my height I don't back down.
"I do not have an STD! And she's a teenager, so you can't tell her who she can and can't date," he argues back. I look over at Tessa who begins to shake her head quickly with a disgusted look on her face.
"I don't give a rat's ass if she was eighteen, you're a piece of shit," I state, crossing my arms over my chest. "Look just because Liv has finally gotten rid of you doesn't mean you can move on to my sister!"
"I do not care about Olivia, she was just a quick lay, okay? And besides she never even liked me in the first place, you might want to pay more attention to her and Sebastian's relationship than to our casual hookups," he looks over my shoulder staring at Olivia with a smirk on his face.
I turn around and face Olivia standing next to Sebastian, who has moved away a couple of inches due to the accusations flying around. I raise my eyebrow slightly at them and they shake their heads denying Zach's implications.
"Are you really that pathetic and jealous that you would come up with ridiculous accusations? That's just sad," Zach scoffs at my question.
"I am not jealous," he replies stubbornly.
"That's exactly what someone jealous would say," I smirk at him. "Seb, you're riding with us back home, I don't want that walking STD near any of us," I look over at Sebastian who nods his head in agreement, he walks over to Cole and they start talking quietly, Cole nodding along to whatever Sebastian suggested.
I look over at Nathan standing a few feet away from the drama with Maddie, who is doing cartwheels, I mouth a 'thank you' and call Maddie over to me. He gives me an apologetic smile and nods his head.
"What a creep," Olivia laughed walking next to Tessa back to the car. Sebastian is carrying Maddie because we wanted to get back to the car quickly.
Tessa slows down so she's walking next to me, I grab her hand and squeeze it tightly.
"That was just a weird moment," she shivers. The thing about Tess is that she's never had to worry about boys until middle school and even then, it was just people her age, she's never really gone through that 'obsessed boy' stage yet, she's more kept to herself, focused on her sports. She hasn't even dared to kiss a boy yet and here's Zach full-on propositioning her. Fucking idiot.
