The next morning I wake up and head straight to Sophie's room. I knock on her door before pushing I open and walking in. She's sitting up in bed with a smile on her face while she types on her phone. I smirk before running up to her and diving onto her bed. She flails her arms a bit and tries to balance herself out.
"Char don't do that!" she groans with a laugh trying to push me off her bed.
"But it's so much fun," I groan mockingly and push myself up so I'm sitting next to her. "So, who are you texting?"
"No one you need to concern yourself with," she blushes hiding her phone away.
"So, Aidan then, that explains the smile," I grin and poke her sides, she swats at me trying to stop the tickle.
"Shut up," she mumbles.
"Soph I'm happy for you, you looked like you had fun last night," I shrug with a smile.
"Oh, don't even get me started on how weird it was that you girls were watching our every move in that place," she laughs.
"That was Liv, she was like obsessed with you two," I tell her while laughing at all the stalking Olivia did.
"Yeah, well don't ever let it happen again," her laugh slowly dies down, she fidgets lightly before looking at me, "I heard about what happened with Seb last night, you didn't have to pick sides, he would have gotten over it eventually."
"That's the part that I don't like, 'eventually', it is not okay for him to still hold a grudge against you and Cole gets a smack on the wrist, it's not okay, and I am sick of just brushing it off, he needed to get off his high horse," I say looking at her.
I get up from the bed and pull her up too as we slowly walk downstairs for breakfast.
"Morning dad," I walk up to him and plant a kiss on his cheek and he flips the last pancake, "Sleep well?" I asked grabbing a plate and sitting at the breakfast bar. Sophie stands at the fridge door grabbing the bottle of orange juice and getting a few glasses for us.
"I did, can't say the same about your mother though, she had an emergency at the hospital last night, she only got back around 3 am," dad yawns turning off the stove and bringing the plate of pancakes over.
"Ugh, that sucks," I grumble grabbing a couple of pancakes off the plate. "Should we make her a plate or something? We could bring it to her?" Sophie nods her head agreeing with my idea.
"I'm already one step ahead of you," he smiles as he picks up a tray that I had not seen with pancakes, coffee, and cut-up fruit on it. Aw, my dad is adorable.
"Oh, don't forget this," Sophie grabs a magazine off the island and puts it on the tray carefully, "Mom loves reading mindless gossip in the morning."
"What would I do without you girls?" he asks as he walks to the stairs leading to their room.
"I have no idea, but once you know, let us know," I laugh.
Sophie sits next to me and hands over the orange juice while I pass her the syrup for her pancakes. We are halfway through our breakfast when we hear little feet running through the house towards the television room. Maddie does this every weekend morning, she always assumes if she runs fast enough through the house that she can get to the television before any of us notice her so that she doesn't have to eat before cartoons. It doesn't usually work.
"Maddie, come eat your breakfast first, you know the rules," I call to her in a sing-song voice. I hear a 'humph' and little feet stomping into the kitchen.
"Better luck next time Munch," Sophie laughs pulling a chair out for Maddie while I get her pancakes ready and cut up for her.
She mumbles a 'thank you' before she starts stuffing her face. Tessa is the next sibling to walk into the kitchen all dressed and ready for her soccer game in a few hours. She walks over to the fridge and grabs a bottle of water and gets a granola bar from the pantry.
"So, what was all that shouting last night?" Tess asks nibbling on her granola bar.
"Just a disagreement with Seb," I shrug looking at Maddie in my side vision hoping she doesn't get curious. We don't like to fight or talk about fighting in front of her because she starts getting all emotional thinking we don't love each other anymore. Always the little dramatic.
"Right sure, because that's exactly what it sounded like," Tess rolls her eyes.
"Is dad taking you to your game?" I ask to change the subject but also in case she needs a ride.
"No Mrs. Chambers is carpooling, she'll be here in fifteen-ish minutes," she replies looking at the clock on the wall.
"Good morning sisters," Sebastian walks into the kitchen in his sleeping shorts and greets us all. Sophie carries on eating acting as if he's not even there. I stare at him trying to see if he's still going to be an ass or not. I will not back down. We have a mini stare down until my eye twitches and he smirks in victory. He nods his head slightly and leans against the island across from Sophie. "Morning Soph, how was your date last night?" He asks in what sounds like genuine curiosity. Weird.
Sophie's head snaps up, "Um, it was good," she shrugs narrowing her eyes to see if the exchange is not just some trick.
"That's good, you were with that guy Aidan Cross, right? I haven't spoken to him much but he seems like a good guy," Sebastian shrugs with a slight smile grabbing the last two pancakes, putting syrup on them. Even weirder.
"Yeah, he's a great guy, we just started getting to know each other so it's still new," she answers a little more relaxed. Tessa looks back and forth between them just as confused as me.
"Awesome, well if he gives you any trouble let me know, and I'll have a talk with him," Sebastian says with his mouth full of food. Pig.
"Sure, okay, will do," she looks at me confused and I just shrug taking a bite.
"Okay I am completely lost, did I miss something here?" Tessa looks at me and I just shrug not understanding the civility of their interaction either, "Weren't you two like, at each others' throats just yesterday?" Tessa recalls yesterday when Sebastian and Sophie had a screaming match about who had eaten the last slice of cake that mom had baked, which was supposed to be for Sophie because she wanted to save it for later. Interesting fact- Tessa and I had shared it the night before.
"So, what are we doing today? Maybe we should have a sibling day out? When last did we do that, when Harry was here over the summer?" Sebastian suggests ignoring Tessa's earlier statement and looking at all of us. Maddie nods her head quickly while chewing on her strawberries, and Sophie nods her head timidly.
"Well I have a game in forty minutes but I'll be home by noon, is that cool?" Tessa asks getting her gear together.
"Yeah, that should work, maybe we could do the beach?" He looks at me.
"Okay, sounds good, we can do that," I shrug a little confused. "So, I see that my speech got through to you," I look at him with an eyebrow raised.
"Yup, I figured it was about time to apologize and get over it, that and mom embarrassed me in front of the guys after you girls left, and threatened to continue doing it until I sorted out my shit," he scratches the back of his neck embarrassed.
"Good, it was about damn time," I answer putting my dishes in the dishwasher.
"You have a long way to go before we can go back to normal," Sophie replies leaving the kitchen after putting her dishes away. Sebastian walks over to Maddie and wipes her face with a napkin after she had missed a bunch of strawberry juices and syrup stuck on her cheek. She runs off to the television as soon as she's cleaned up.
"Well, let's see how long this lasts," Tessa ducks as I throw an apple at her, laughing.
"Aren't you supposed to be gone?" I ask walking up the stairs.
"I love you too!" She shouts back. "And you better clean up that apple because I sure as hell won't!"
