Lando had been there for her from the beginning, when she was diagnosed with cancer and Max Fewtrell had introduced his best guy friend to his best girl friend. The driver had spent every moment of his free time checking up with her, seeing if she was still holding up. He had seen her bald, he had seen her at her worst moments of chemotherapy, he had seen her loose weight terribly fast, he had been there when she discovered that she'd never be able to have children of her own anymore. But he had also seen her get better, he had been there when she was released from the hospital, he had seen her pick her life up again.

For Leslie, he was her guardian angel and she was forever grateful for his love and support. She knew he was at the beginning of his Formula One career when they met, so he needed to focus on that. Yet he found time for her. So when she was released from the hospital bit couldn't get back to work or school yet, she traveled along to all his races in Europe, being able to travel by train. She supported him to the fullest, being proud of everything he had achieved, even when he wouldn't be happy with his results. And when Leslie could not be at his races, she faithfully watched everything live on TV, debriefing the races with him over the phone after.

They were it. Everyone believed in them. And so did they themselves.

So what had changed in them?
