The Dance

It had been a few days since Adrien had asked Marinette to be his girlfriend, but it looked like they had been together forever. They held hands as they walked down the halls of the school as people stared. They would stare into each other's eyes lovingly as they walked. He would open doors for her and hold her books for her, staring into her gorgeous blue bell eyes. He laughed with her and at her clumsiness (sometimes). But that only made Adrien love her more.

Marinette and Adrien made a great couple; the students were all happy for them. Except Chloe. She drilled daggers into Marinette with her eyes whenever she saw her with Adrien. Of course she was jealous, but she never wanted to admit it. Chloe had been trying her whole life to get Adrien to think of her as more than a friend, but Marientte could do it in a matter of months? Ridiculous. Utterly ridiculous. She thought with a scowl permanently etched onto her face. (Come you know you read that in her voice).

One day during lunch, Adrien had displayed a big proposal asking Marinette to go to the dance with him. She gladly said yes and gave him a big hug, both teens blushing. The student body cheered for their friends. Although, a certain red head had been standing in the corner of the courtyard, trying to work up the courage to ask the fashion designer to the dance.

Nathanael was heart broken. He couldn't just try and say that he was fine after this. He wanted so desperately to go with Marinette to the dance. But Adrien had to ruin it all. The artist felt as though whenever he had good luck in getting to do something with Marinette, Adrien had to come along and destroy his hopes like a shoe squishing an ant. He knew Adrien asked to change partners for the project. He was still very bitter about it, but tried his best not to think about it.

More days passed, and the day before the dance arrived. The whole school was buzzing about it. Decorations had begun to be set up but more were still needed before the night of the dance. Adrien and Marinette offered to help out, as well as Alya and Nino. They weren't officially dating, but Marinette could tell that something good would come out of that friendship after the dance.

Adrien was keeping the tall ladder steady as Marinette slowly climbed up it to attach the streamers to the ceiling.

"I'll be right here to catch you if you fall, Marinette! Don't worry!" Adrien called to her, giving her a quick wink. She smiled and turned her head back up to the ceiling where she joined the tape and streamer together at the corner of the wall. She began to slowly climb back down, but she missed a wrung and slipped off the ladder. Adrien caught her just in time, leaving the ladder to clatter into the ground.

"Are you okay? You could've seriously hurt yourself." Adrien asked, concern carved into every inch of his perfect face.

"I'm fine. You know how clumsy I am." Marinette said as she touched her feet to the ground.

"I'm serious Marinette! If you had been any higher that fall could have killed you." Adrien said, his tone a bit more harsh. Marinette was silently screaming knowing that THE Adrien Agreste, her boyfriend, was this concerned for her and her safety. It was too cute.

"But I know that you'll always be there to catch me if I fall." She said, kissing him on the cheek before skipping off to help Alya with the balloons. Adrien slow whistle before picking up the ladder. That Marinette was really something. His something.

The four teens finished the decorations right before dinner. Adrien had to go home as soon as possible so his father wouldn't get upset, so that left Marinette to walk home alone with her thoughts. And kwami.

"You and Adrien are really made for each other." Tikki said, popping her head out of her purse. Marinette giggled and nodded her head in agreement. "I'm so glad that we know each other's identites. I was afraid that if he saw who I really was, he would be disappointed. The amazing Ladybug was just an ordinary, clumsy girl." Marientte explained.

"He sees you as much more than that, you know." Tikki said after a moment. Marinette paused and smiled.

"I know."

Today was the day. Alya had come over that morning so Marinette could add the finishing touches onto Alya's dress. It was black and faded to a deep purple at the bottom. The bottom of the dress reached to the floor and fanned out slightly at the waist. Alya wore black heels and diamond jewelry to compliment the look. Small rhinestones where added along the waist and sequins were incorporated down into the purple.

Marinette's dress was one of the most difficult and intricate designs she had ever done. It was a sleeveless, red dress that flared out at the waist down to her toes. Along the bodice of the dress were lighter red roses that stopped at the waist and continued at the bottom of her skirt. White leaves and swirls were stitched in between the roses. Sequins helped the skirt to glitter down one side of the dress as Marinette twirled.

Alya gasped when Marinette stepped out from the bathroom.

"You look like a princess." She gaped, reaching a finger out to touch the dress to see if it was real. Marinette giggled and blushed as she looked at her friend, who was in awe.

"Alya, you know you look like one too!" She said, trying to get the blogger to stop touching her dress. Alya laughed and pulled Marinette into the bathroom.

"Since you helped me with the dress, I'm doing your make-up!" Alya grinned, grabbing all she needed. It wasn't much; Marinette was already gifted with long, thick eyelashes and a pale complexion.

After the make-up was done, Marientte frowned in the mirror at her hair. She didn't want to leave it in her pigtails. This was a school dance; she had to do something different. Tugging on the strands of her hair, she eventually pulled her midnight locks into a bun and adorned it with a matching rose rignglet she found at a store (it was the inspiration for her dress. See the picture at the end if you're confused.) Marientte added a small golden necklace and long earrings that dripped from her miraculous. She had found a way to add the extension in without having to take out her miraculous incase there was ever an emergency.

"Girl, Adrien's going to die when he sees you! You look like a goddess!" Alya exclaimed, hugging her best friend.

"I bet Nino will do the same." Marinette teased, sending Alya into a blush. "Shut up." She said, trying to hide her face. Alya's hair framed her face perfectly as curls cascaded down from her head. She pulled some of it back and pinned it with a rhinestone clip that matched the outfit perfectly.

"Marinette, Alya there are some handsome boys down here to see you!" Marinette's mom called. "Coming!" They responded.

Alya went down first, since she didn't like to be the center of attention for very long. Nino had ditched his red cap and headphones. They were replaced with a nice tux and tie that matched Alya's dress. He stared in amazement as Alya gracefully walked down the stairs. He could feel his face heat up as she walked towards him.

"Hey Nino." She said, her face heating up as well. She heard Adrien gasp and turned to see Marinette walking down the steps. Adrien couldn't believe his eyes. Marientte look like she was an angel that had fallen from heaven. Her dress neatly brushed the steps behind her as she made her down the steps. Adrien felt like he wanted to die. He knew Marinette was beautiful, but he didn't knew that this level of beauty could ever be accomplished by anybody. Marinette made it to the bottom of the stairs without tripping and walked towards Adrien, his jaw opened slightly. Marinette giggled as she pushed his mouth closed with her finger. "You're going to catch flies like that." She teased.

"Marinette, you...you look stunning. I ...you..." Adrien was at a loss for words. He was mesmerized by Marinette. He grabbed her hand, and brought it up to his face, gently kissing her knuckles.

"Careful Adrien, don't want to let the 'Chat' out of the bag." She whispered. Adrien smirked and kissed the top of her head. "You know you love it." He whispered back. Marinette blushed and shoved his face Bentley away from hers. Adrien opened the door for his friends and they entered into his limo. The four teens chatted as they arrived at the school. Adrien and Nino jumped out first, helping their dates out of the long car.

Marinette slipped her arm into Adrien's as they walked up the steps. She snuggles her head next to his shoulder and sighed. Tonight would be perfect.

They entered the lively dance floor full of students. Music blasted and lights flashed as teens danced the night away. Some students stood by the walls and talked, while others stood by the food table.

Adrien felt his Chat Noir instinct kick in. He tuned to face Marinette, bowed and offered his hand to her. She giggled and accepted it. Adrien dragged her onto the dance floor and together the two teens danced in sync. They laughed and smiled at each other as more music played. A slow dance came on, and Adrien pulled Marinette close. She rested her head on his chest, and Adrien rested his head atop of her midnight locks. Marinette's bun had fallen out during one of the dances, and she had slipped the ringlet around her wrist. She looked even more stunning with her hair down.

After the song ended, Adrien pulled her out into the quiet courtyard. Moonlight illuminated the ground as the couple walked   It was quiet, but it wasn't an awkward silence. Adrien led her to the middle and pulled her to face him. They stared into each other's eyes for a moment before Adrien spoke up.

"Marinette, I'm really glad we figured out each other's identities. I think that I would have lost my mind trying to figure out who that courageous, beautiful girl was behind the mask. I'm really glad it was you." He said with a smile. Marinette blushed and responded.

"I'm really happy that we have found out, too. I was afraid you would be disappointed that it was me. An ordinary girl who couldn't form a single sentence in front of you. But now I see that that doesn't matter." Marinette stars into his eyes. "I really am happy that it was you Adrien."

Everything about the moment was perfect. The moonlight. The quiet courtyard. Two teens staring into each other's eyes. Adrien could feel it to and began to lean in for another attempt at a kiss. Faces inches apart, the two teens could feel each other's breath on their faces. A little closer and their lips would have connected.

"Marinette! Adrien! Their about announce the best couple and I think you guys won't want to miss it!" Alya called. Both teens tensed as they heard their names called. Adrien adjusted his head and planted a kiss on Marinette's forehead. She blushed and Adrien took her hand, leading her back to the dance floor.

ALYA HOW COULD YOU?! Just kidding I have the perfect situation for their first kiss as a couple don't worry😉😉 I loved writing this chapter and am SO excited for the next few chapters!! Stay Miraculous!
