Just Her Luck
Marinette slowly raised her head from her desk. She had fallen asleep doing her homework. Again. The past few nights, akuma attacks had been occurring, each one tougher than the last, taking more time to defeat. The bluenette glanced at the clock. 9:30.
"TIKKI why didn't you wake me up?! The girl said, frantically pushing back her chair and running to her closet. The kwami was fast asleep in her own little corner until Marinette yelled her name. Tikki flew up from her bed and watched as Marinette ran around her room trying to get ready.
"I'm sorry Marinette. Just because I'm a kwami doesn't mean that I don't need sleep. Plus, it's not like you haven't been this late before." Tikki explained.
Marinette glared at her kwami, opened her small purse and gestures for Tikki to get inside. Tikki gave a small grin before flying into Marinette's bag. Marinette flung herself down the stairs and out the door, not bothering to say goodbye to her parents.
She ran to the school and up to her classroom. Marinette took a few moments to catch her breath before quietly pushing the door open.
The teacher had her back turned and was writing something in the chalkboard. Marinette attempted to make her way up the stairs, but she tripped over a backpack on her way up. Adrien's bag to be specific. She hit the floor with a thud and groaned. This day could not get any worse.
"Ah, Ms. Dupain-Cheng, you decided to show up."The teacher said, turning around. She gave a confused look as to why Marinette was on the ground, and to the blonde and ginger cracking up in the front row. "Do you at least have the homework that was due today?"
Marinette let out a silent groan as she let out a small 'no'.
"Are you okay, Marinette?" Adrien asked, giving the girl a worried look as he offered his had to the fallen bluenette.
"I-I'm fine now- with you- I mean- yeah, I'm okay." She stuttered, a blush creeping into her face. He gave her a light smile before returning to his work. Marinette picked up her bag and sat in her seat. Alya looked at Marinette, who had a goofy look plastered into her face.
"Girl, this is the third time you were late this week. What is going on? And stop looking at Adrien like that, he's going to catch you one of these days." Alya whispered.
Marinette snapped out of her gaze at the teen model and looked at her best friend. "I overslept?" It was the same response she had given to the brunette as to why she was late. Technically, it was true. Marinette had been oversleeping. She just never explained why she had over slept. She couldn't exactly tell her best friend that she was secretly her idol, Ladybug who had just been out fighting akumas the past few nights.
"Ever heard of an alarm clock?" She smirked. Marinette just rolled her eyes and tried to focus on the teacher.

The bell finally rang, telling the students it was time to leave. Thankfully it was Friday, so Marinette could take the weekend to relax and regain her energy. Alya caught up with her walking home.
"Are you sure you're alright? You've been kinda out of it lately." Alya said, a small loo of worry crept onto the ombré girls face.
"I'm fine Alya, really." Marinette lied. She was extremely tired and just wanted to go back to her nice warm bed.
"Okay," Alya replied, not believing her. "Just remember that I'm your best friend and you can tell me anything." She gave her friend a reassuring smile and left.
Tikki poked her head out of the purse. "You know Marinette, Alya's a good friend to you. You're lucky to have her. You should do something for her."
"Like what?" Marinette asked. The teen let out a big yawn as she stretched her arms. She wasn't really in the mood to do anything except sleep.
"Maybe you should give her an interview for the LadyBlog. She's always trying to get one." Tikki suggested.
"But I have given her one already, remember? After we watched that mime show by the Eiffel Tower. That was the day I borrowed her phone because I accidentally deleted the video and..." Marinette rambled on about that day to Tikki. Tikki chuckled when she heard Marinette say she "borrowed" Alya's phone. Both Marinette and Tikki knew that she stole it, but Marinette preferred to use a different term.
The kwami's red head suddenly ducked into Marinette's purse when she saw somebody coming their way who was equally not paying attention. Before the kwami could warn the bluenette, Marinette collided with the other person. Marinette fell to the ground for the second time today.
"I'm so sorry!" The two teens said to each other at the same time. Marinette glanced up to see she bumped into. Knowing her luck, it was probably Adrien. But the voice wasn't quite the same. Her eyes locked with the person extending their hand to help her up.
