Girls and Guilt

Hello I'm here. I'm just taking a step back from writing constantly and doing more of my artwork and dealing with Missouri heat. Phew.

Liv went into labor a week after they moved into Elliot's old house. It was a particularly hard one for her. Elliot worried endlessly for 34 hours before the doctors decided it was time for a C section. She was only dilated to a 4 and was getting more tired. The girls were doing fine, just hanging out while Liv was getting more severe contractions every moment. Elliot actually was shocked they let her even try for a natural birth. The doctor was so worried all throughout her pregnancy because she was carrying twins and her age wasn't the youngest.

Once they started the C section, the girls were out within five minutes. Elliot saw them tie a small red string to the first born's ankle and start to weigh them while Liv was getting stitched up. Once they were back in her room, the doctor came in with two nurses following with the girls in their roll cribs.

The doctor was very happy as she looked at the charts. "Olivia, good new. The girls are in next to perfect health. Baby A is 21 inches long and weighs 6 pounds and 4 ounces. Baby B is 22 inches long and 6 pounds 9 ounces."

Elliot let out a long breath of relief. He looked at Liv who was crying silently as she watched the nurses wrap the girls tightly and give one to her and one to Elliot. "Hey baby girl," Liv chuckled. The baby cooed as she shifted slightly.

"Now do we have names?" The doctor asked, getting out her pen.

"Yeah," Elliot said, "Jasmine Marie and Juniper May Stabler."

"Preferences on which name goes to which baby?"

Elliot and Liv looked at each other and shrugged. Liv looked at her baby closer. "This is Juniper," she said softly with a smile.

"Baby A is Juniper May and baby B is Jasmine Marie," the doctor smiled warmly at the parents and nodded. "I'll leave you two alone with your newest additions."

Ten minutes of holding their babies, the nurses came in to help Liv feed them. One on each nipple. Elliot decided to leave her to it and went to get the boys from Kathy's place. Juniper didn't seem to want to take it, but Jasmine got it right away. After Jasmine got her fill, the nurse and Liv finally was able to get Juniper to feed a little.

Juniper and Jasmine were asleep in their cribs when the door to the room burst open. Daniel, Tyler, and Eli rushed in with happy eyes. "Where are they?" Daniel asked, looking around the room.

Elliot walked in and shushed them. "The girls are sleeping," he said, pointing to the cribs near Liv. The three rushed over, more silently than before and looked at each of them.

"They're so tiny!" Eli exclaimed.

"You were just as tiny as they are now at one point," Elliot told his son.

Dickie and Liz came by for a quick visit a little later. Then Maureen and Kathleen. They all seemed to adore the girls. Elliot was slightly scared that Dickie would end up having a tantrum, but he seemed to have grown up.

Liv and the girls got sent home two days later, after she got the okay from the doctor. The girls screamed the entire ride home at being in the car seats. Elliot turned to look at them in the back when they were at a stoplight. "They are the loudest kids I've ever made," he muttered affectionately as he smiled at Liv.

She scoffed. "Thanks a lot," she responded, wincing as they ran over a bump.

"Sorry," he said as he pulled into the driveway. Maureen took the boys to Kathy's for a few days while Liv and Elliot got settled in with the girls. Kathy would bring the boys home this weekend and see the girls then. Elliot was very thankful that she had become so understanding in the last few months and helped out such. He wanted to tell her how much he was thankful, but every time he was alone with her he lost his nerve.

It felt awkward to have such a decent relationship with his ex after everything he did to get with Liv. He basically abandoned her and his kids and started to feel very guilty every time he thought about that. Dealing with the girls alone while Liv was asleep and bedridden 90 percent of the time made him appreciate Kathy a little more. She deserved better than him.

Cragen had told Elliot when he showed up for work the following day after the girls were born that if Elliot showed his face at the Station House at all for two weeks he'd write a RIP for being a dick of a boyfriend to his partner. While he didn't believe that reason would stick officially, unofficially, Cragen could make his life hell for a long time. It was better safe than sorry.

It was also nice to have some time away from all the sex crimes. To lay back and be a normal father to his girls.
