Adopt or Foster

Hi, slightly stressful day so Im here to write to calm down.

Tucker ended up being overly thorough with his investigation. It annoyed Elliot and Olivia very much. He'd randomly show up at the squad house in attempt to get them being inappropriate. All that happened was Elliot and Liv looking very annoyed at Tucker as they did their DD5's. Liv being pregnant, looking more annoyed and like she wanted to shoot Tucker.

In the end of the two day long investigation, Tucker reluctantly allowed the relationship to continue. The only thing was they had to switch partners. Amanda was going to be Elliot's partner and a new guy called Nick Amaro was going to be Liv's. They weren't happy for being forced to switch partners, but beating Tucker at his little mind games was a big win for the two of them.

The DA helped set up all the foster paperwork for the two boys. The oldest, Daniel, was five and should have started Kindergarten, but was never enrolled. So Olivia and Elliot enrolled him in a decent one. Kathy agreed to watch the youngest, Tyler, with Eli since Eli seemed so happy to have a buddy. She wasn't happy about it per say, but she wanted Eli to be happy. Eli took to the young boys very well, which made Elliot very proud of him.

They were actually given some decent beds and bunk bed frames for Daniel and Tyler, so that was great. Elliot and Liv didn't have to go shopping again. Eli was in one corner on the bottom bunk in his race car bed. The mattress from the other twin bed was now on the top of that bunk bed. The other side of the room was a normal black metal bunk bed set.

Tyler and Daniel shared the bottom bunk for a few days until they got used to the new environment. Liv was enjoying coming home to all the kids. Daniel started to smile at her when she walked in the door. Elliot and Liv had made an agreement to switch off on going home early ever day to get Daniel, Eli, and Tyler from Kathy's place.

"Hey guys," Elliot greeted as he closed the door with a groan. It was his turn for a late night, and he was very exhausted. The Morris family was having a very hard time with the major breadwinner of the family in jail for rape.

Daniel looked over to Elliot, his green eyes happy and face dirty from his ice cream bar. "Hi, Elliot, Liv gave us ice cream bars for dessert." He looked at his ice cream then at Liv with a sheepish grin. "Well, half a bar each."

"Yeah? Why the special dessert?" Elliot asked, coming over to steal a bite from Liv's. She glared at him as he winked at her and pulled Eli off her side to sit.

"Cuz the IFB and AD says we can be adopted fully," Tyler said with a large grin.

Liv giggled a little. "It's FBI and DA," she corrected Tyler.

He furrowed his brows and nodded seriously. Elliot looked at Liv who avoided his eyes and focused on the movie. Elliot didn't realize she wanted to fully adopt Daniel and Tyler. He'd have to talk to her about that later. Right now, though, he wanted to just enjoy spending time with his new family.

Thirty minutes later, the movie was finished and all three boys were dead asleep. Elliot took them one by one into the bedroom and tucked them all in. Eli first, since he was on Elliot's lap already. Mr. Kitty was placed beside Eli and Elliot went to grab Tyler. Tyler loved this little bear that Eli didn't care for and took ownership over it. Daniel was the last one and Elliot decided to put him on the other end of the twin bed with Tyler. They both were slightly malnourished, so they fit a little too well.

Elliot assumed that was the real reason that Liv let them all have ice cream bars. However, he didn't mind. They deserved to have some happy times. The two of them didn't seem to have had many of them with Lydia. Daniel didn't claim any sort of stuffed animal, but that was okay. He might find one later. Elliot took the blanket off the top bunk and covered both of them up and kissed both good night.

They fit in so well in his and Liv's lives. The thought of not fostering them seemed cruel now that they were there. Elliot could easily see he and Liv fully adopting the two boys. The only problem was Elliot had Eli and Liv was pregnant with their twins. Adopting with young kids already in the picture was a little hard.

"They're asleep," Elliot said lowly as he closed the door to their room.

Liv nodded as she got up and they headed to their bedroom. Elliot followed more slowly, trying to figure out how to word his question. She was already in one of his over sized shirts and her sweats, belly sticking out slightly.

As Elliot took off his suit and got into bed in his underwear, he finally got the courage. "So you're wanting to adopt them?"

She didn't say anything for a moment as she crawled into bed. He watched her think. "Yes," she said softly.

He nodded. He didn't want her to be upset if they didn't get approved for adopting them. "I know that it will be hard for us to get approved. You don't have to tell me," she quickly added as Elliot opened his mouth.

"I just don't want you to be disappointed," he responded, looking at her in the eyes.

She smiled at him. "We're giving two young boys a loving home. Whether we get to adopt them or someone else get to give them their permanent home, I just want them to know they're loved."

Elliot understood. She didn't want them to feel like she did when she was a kid. Unwanted and a mistake. He kissed her forehead and cupped her cheek lightly before curling up close to her and placing a hand on her belly. They quickly fell into a deep sleep.
