Prologue
It'd been a few weeks of constant phone calls and texts, you had ended up blocking his number after two days of his constant calling. You even had to block the other boys' numbers so he couldn't call from their phones. It wasn't easy, but you had to put your foot down. You refused to be under Army in priority, even if you still loved that boy with all your heart; there was no going back. So you put yourself into work, teaching kids English, it helped keep your mind off of him. They were a handful so you never had moments to think about him.
However, Jungkook was not taking this break up well, he would go to either his room or to one of his hyung's, he didn't interact much with Army. It was as though he didn't have the passion to perform anymore, but he'd just dance until he'd collapse in exhaustion. Completely soaked in sweat, he laid down on the cold floor of the practice room, all of the boys went home since practice was over but he stayed after, promising to lock up when he was done. It's at these moments where he takes a single breath and can feel the tears building up in his eyes, his chin wobbling, laying an arm over his eyes to hide himself.
The music was so loud he couldn't even hear the doors open, he couldn't even hear himself cry, so he didn't notice Namjoon walking in. Alone. "Jungkook." No answer, movement, or nothing, the only sign of life coming from the maknae was his fast breaths, chest rising and falling to catch his breath from the nonstop working. Brows furrowed with worry and sternness of an older brother and leader, he walked over to the speakers and turned it off.
Confused, Jungkook sat up and looked over to see Namjoon, not saying anything but staring at him. "I've called your name about ten times." Cautiously making sure not to erupt other emotions from the younger boy, he made his way to sit in front of Jungkook. Glossy, red eyes looked down to his lap as he choked out, voice broken and dry from crying, "Sorry hyung." Namjoon stared at him, he didn't like seeing any of the other members cry; even if they are too much of a handful on a normal basis.
"What happened, Jungkook? You haven't been the same since the day you ran out of house. You don't tell us what's wrong, how can we help you?" Jungkook didn't look up, instead he wiped his eyes with his thumb, completely quiet except for the hiccups and heavy breathing. It was like he went back to that little kid, the one who was so quiet, the members barely hear him speak or see him at home. All of the boys were worried, but Namjoon thought it'd be best if only one person went to check on him. So he wouldn't be overwhelmed with everyone.
"... Is it Y/N?"
Jungkook took a deep breath, coughing a bit, before he slowly nodded his head in response. Namjoon nodded, getting close to an answer, before he put a hand to his shoulder as reassurance. "They- ... We-- ... I messed up, hyung... I messed up really badly and I don't know what to do." He put his head down in his hands, pushing his bangs out of his face, rubbing his eyes with his palms. His head was hurting from crying and he can feel it going to his eyes, shaking his head as a choked sob escaped. "I-It was our ann-- anniversary, they asked me to come home for dinner... But then I got that phone call during our Vlive and I had to run home because they said they were going to leave. Then-- Then they told me that 'they knew my job and you guys were above them but I was putting Army above them too' and I knew they were right."
Namjoon's eyes widened and he began to understand, it was rough to fall in love in this field, so many things had to be put above their own happiness. "Now, they blocked my number, they blocked your numbers so I can't call, I don't know what to do. I love them hyung," sobs escaped and he wasn't able to finish his words. Fingers gripping his hair, body shaking as he tried to catch his breaths in between sobs.
Bringing the maknae into a hug to help calm him down, he tried to think of ways to help him; "You two need to talk, come to an agreement, and not fight. Maybe find a middle ground, so that way you can do your job and also keep them happy as well. They can't expect you to just ignore Army all together, that's not possible with our line of work." Jungkook pulled away from Namjoon, listening to his hyung and taking his words in. "Forgetting your anniversary isn't right, but it's something that's happened, you can't change what happened. Best thing to do is fix what's ahead for you both. We have a day off tomorrow, so see if you can get a talk in with her."
Namjoon succeeded in getting Jungkook to come home to shower, eat, and sleep in his bed. Jungkook knows what school you teach at, so maybe... It'd be dangerous, but since it was only a children's school it shouldn't be too hard. Getting some sleep, he'd wake up getting ready to head to the school you teach at, making sure to wear a jacket to cover his tattoos. A bucket hat, he removed his earrings, and a black mask so he can walk to you without being spotted by Army.
This way he looked like just any normal guy walking through the streets, he just kept his eyes from making eye contact with any teen fans. They were the more... the more wild ones, the ones to tag his location and be swarmed. At least the adult Army were more respectful in just asking for a photo and being on their way after he thanked them. But that was very few in between, so he was safe. So far no one recognized him, he even kept his tattooed hand in his pocket so no one saw the Army tat.
Standing at the only entrance and exit, he pretended to be someone waiting for a sibling and felt nervous as kids began to leave and hurry off home. Then he saw you, his eyes widened as you told your students to make sure to go straight home and be safe. You didn't even recognize him until you both made eye contact and you frowned. "Bye teacher!" You waved at the students and began to walk past Jungkook, "Y/N." Ignoring him, you continued to walk, pulling your phone out and calling your best friend to let her know you'll cook dinner.
Not wanting to make a scene or talk too loudly so no one recognized his voice, he gently called out, "Y/N. Can we talk? Please?" You flagged down a taxi and immediately Jungkook climbed in too, you frowned with a roll of your eyes as you told the driver the address. You didn't kick him out of the taxi, so maybe that was a good sign for him? A frown on your face as you ignored him the entire time, not even looking at him, as you went to pay the taxi driver, but Jungkook paid. Glaring at him, you quickly got out of the car and hurried to the front door, in hopes to lock him out. Stressed out, you began fumbling with the code, getting angry at yourself for taking so long. Hearing his steps run up after you once you got the door opened, you groaned when his hand grabbed the door. "Y/N, please, let's talk. Please." "No." Jungkook tried to rack his brain for some way to get you to agree to a talk. "Please. If nothing works, I promise, I'll leave and never bother you again.... I promise."
You just stared into his eyes trying to hold your ground, but curse your damn feelings for him and his stupidly, beautiful big doe eyes. Letting a huff of air escape your lungs, you turned on your heel taking your shoes off, leaving the door open for him to come in. Your jacket and purse hung on the hook, you walked to the kitchen to take out the meat you would cook for dinner, letting it sit in a warm bowl of water so it'd thaw quicker. You gestured to the couch, grabbing two glasses and filling it with water. Coming back in, you placed his infront of him on the coffee table. Taking a seat on the other side of the couch, you watch him take his bucket hat off and his mask. "Thanks..." He could feel the tension between the two of you, unable to drink the water.
"What'd you plan on talking about? I thought we talked enough that night." You purse your lips and lean back against the armrest facing him, arms crossed already in a defensive position. A slow nod, looking at you and turning his body to face you as well, arm resting on the back of the couch. "I want to start off by saying I'm sorry." You raised your brows, not expecting this to be the start of the conversation. Of course you remember him saying sorry that night, but to you it didn't feel genuine, only as a moment of panic to ease your anger. But it's been a while and you can feel the genuity of his words. "I'm sorry for not making you a high priority of mine, missing not one but many anniversary dinners, taking you for granted and not being fair to your feelings. I got so caught up in my job, that I just bunked Army in with it. You were my first genuine relationship and I didn't know how to prioritize everything. But you're a part of my life and you should be at the same level to me as the rest of the boys. Even more so."
He paused, eyes watering again in fear, looking at your reaction and he hoped he wasn't reading your body language wrong, but your crossed arms loosened, not so defensive. It was almost laughable, now he understood why the others always voted him as the more emotional one. Slowly, so you can pull away from him, he took your hand in his eyes, meeting in genuine apology and seeking forgiveness and possibly a second chance. His heart leaped in hope when you didn't pull from his touch, his fingers just hovering over your hand so as not to make you feel trapped. "I love you, Y/N... I'm sorry I didn't say it as much as I should, that I made you feel so unwanted and unloved. I'm just asking for a second chance... Like I said earlier, if you don't want to try us again, I'll respect that and leave." But I'm hoping you'd agree.
You looked him in the eyes, gauging his sincerity and really, your own heart leaped in love when he told you 'I love you'. It felt like such a long time since you heard it and this time, it wasn't shared with Army, but only for you. Maybe you wouldn't have felt such strong jealousy towards Army if you were reminded that you were his boy/girlfriend and not a billion other fans. Turning your joint hands so they laced with his own, it felt so comforting having his hand in yours again. "I know it's a part of your job. Just... don't forget that I'm your girlfriend. I don't want to feel like I'm competing with over a billion other girls and boys for my boyfriend's attention." He gave you a genuine smile, one of pure happiness, relief, and love. Gently pulling you to move closer to his side so he can give you a hug, "I promise Jagiya, I'll treat you like King / Queen." You both wrapped each other in a tight hug, and he pressed his face into your neck, so happy to have you back in his arms.
"You know you could have died being outside without security." He pulled away a bit to look at you with a smile, "I thought my disguise was a good one." You reached a hand to the collar of his shirt, "I don't know anyone who wears Topman brand, with tan Timbs, and in majority black clothes. And you're freakishly tall." He smiled widely and pretended to bite on your nose, before he whispered to you, pressing his forehead against yours, "I love you, Y/N." You smiled with a blush and whispered in return, "I love you too." You went to pull away but he held you tight so your lower half was off the couch but he kept your upper body against him, "Oye, I have to get dinner ready. B/F/N is expecting dinner after I told her I'll cook." He shook his head and spoke, "Not until I get a kiss to know you forgive me."
You smiled with a shake of your head before placing a sweet kiss to his waiting lips and it felt like forever since he felt such fulfilling happiness. And it's only in your arms he feels this happiness. He will never take you for granted ever again.
