▬▬ "Welcome!" Sherry and Jean greeted the group of girls with welcoming smiles.
However, the stand user's wallet would not smile after this.
Evelyn and Belaine did not understand what was going on, but they only understood that a pair of attractive siblings invited them over to their table. It even surprised them that Y/N was talking to other people besides them.
As for L/N, she's disappointed in her friends for agreeing with their offer.
The girl knew that she could have tried to convince them to not accept it but, she couldn't think of ways on persuading them into not accepting it. Even if she tried, they probably would think of free food first instead of their friend's reluctance.
The entire table was awkwardly mingling with each other.
Neither side knew how to converse with each other and it was mostly small talk which felt very painful, especially to the social butterflies out there. As for the introverts, they were busy distracting themselves with their imaginations to avoid conversing and making a fool out of themselves.
As for Y/N, she took this time to reflect and try to deduce what Mr. Baguette and his sister's goal was.
Unfortunately, she seemed lost. None of the events she shared with them made any sense. The "White Knight" and the "Mr. Baguette" sounded familiar, rather she knew the nicknames from somewhere; she could not for the love of God pinpoint where they came from.
Fortunately for her, the pretty girl must have read her mind because she answered the question she was trying to answer herself.
"You may not believe this, but we're childhood friends." The curly-haired girl answered directly, which froze the childhood lovers while it confused the other two girls at the table.
L/N doubted her statement though, like that sounded a lot of bullshit and too convenient of an excuse for both of them. They were probably using her severed ties with the Polnareff siblings to make her feel more compelled to trust them more easily.
The two girls didn't know what was going on, but the scene before them felt like a telenovela. Belaine felt very confused. While Evelyn felt like she was front-row seat in the first screening of an upcoming telenovela and she was looking forward to it.
"Yeah, and I came out of a dick." The H/C haired girl sarcastically answered while her skepticism got worse.
"Well, Technically-" Belaine tried to correct, but Evelyn's too invested with the drama and she did not want the Burgundy haired girl's smartass to ruin the atmosphere.
"Stay emo, you fuck face." The jade haired girl shot, which got the result she had intended to get, Belaine's silence.
"Look, I'm not saying that I doubt you-" The raven-haired girl's face said that she doubted Y/N's claim, knowing fully well that Y/N was a skeptical person and she would be upfront about it even if it would put her into a disadvantage.
"-Okay, maybe I am, but here's the sitch." The H/C haired girl stated seriously, which caught everyone's attention, but drove away a certain male's blue eyes from her.
"He came to the flower shop yesterday, and he started asking things about me." She recalled which earned the only male on the table some questioning looks.
"Look, I just wanted to get to know more about you-" The male couldn't help but internally cringe knowing that more flimsy defenses would roll off his tongue.
"Coincidentally, I was attacked, and he saved me." L/N just realized that maybe he wasn't so bad, but her skepticism remained.
"I was in the right place at the right time! Plus, I saved your ass, shouldn't you be thankful?" Polnareff hissed, he was so tired of the fact that people kept attacking him.
"And now this!" The tired girl shouted while gesturing to the entire table, then highlighting the siblings' afterwards.
"Look-" Mr. Baguette tried to reason, but his sister interrupted him.
"Wow. You are in deep shit." The situation Polnareff got himself in amused her, and he wasn't pleased with the look on her face.
"Don't fret, White Knight, I'll be the one saving you." Sherry teasingly said which resulted in her brother scowling at her.
"Didn't I tell you to stop calling me that?" He hissed at her, but his sister dismissed him.
"My point is, I am suspicious of both of you, especially him." Y/N admitted, then pointed to the silver-haired male's direction.
He wanted to roll his eyes at her, but that would be petty. Plus, the florist had every right to voice her suspicion and suspect anyone. The only thing he had to do right was sound convincing enough that the girl would stop being so defensive and skeptical about him.
"Even though I just met you today, you have done a lot of questionable things, while Mr. Baguette here has a high chance of getting a peace order or a restraining order." The H/C haired girl reasoned as she referred to the raven-haired girl and Mr. Baguette.
"Your skepticism is understandable." Jean responded, it seemed like he wasn't sure what to say next. He wasn't even sure if kissing up her arse would ease her skepticism.
"Oh! I just remembered that we haven't introduced ourselves." Sherry said with a smile on her face, but this made two people internally facepalm while it confused the two girls on how they made it this far into the conversation without introducing each other.
"I'm Sherry Polnareff and this is my brother Jean Pierre Polnareff." The girl introduced themselves which caused Y/N to cough on her drink.
"This perverted mofo is my childhood sweetheart!?" Y/N exclaimed, which brought her to abruptly stand up and slam her hands against the table. She refused to believe this truth she was hearing.
"I didn't even touch you!" Polnareff defended, but she ignored his defense.
"And you have to be joking right?" Jean asked his sister, but she shook her head no.
"I don't even know who she is!" The silver-haired male exclaimed as he gestures to the florist.
"But I do." Sherry replied with a smirk on her face.
"How?" Sherry's brother asked her.
"College." The raven-haired girl answered.
"Well, I haven't seen you around the campus." Evelyn tried to recall, but none came to mind.
"Yeah, I would remember a pretty face like yours if I ever saw one." Belaine indirectly complemented which caused a certain raven head to blush a bit.
"I'm flattered but, Y/N is the star of the conversation here, not me." Sherry diverted all their attention upon the star of their conversation.
As for the star of the conversation, she wishes that her "sparkling" would stop because she did not to be the center of attention at all. She only came for the damn' food, not a stupid conversation she had no interest in being part of. The girl already knew she wasn't attractive, so she didn't deserve to have the spotlight of their conversation.
"I am now willing to file a restraining order against you two." L/N declared.
"WAIT WAIT! Let my sister explain first before things get out of hand." The silver-haired male stated, but the look on the florist's face said otherwise.
"No, I have had enough with both of you!" The H/C haired girl exclaimed, which caught the whole table off guard.
It wasn't every day the quiet girl would actually voice her opinion.
"Ever since you came into that stupid flower shop weird shit has been happening, and suddenly you guys are claiming to be my childhood friends!?" Y/N screamed in disbelief. She was starting to believe that she might need to get her ears cleaned.
"You guys have some resemblance, but I know for a fact my childhood sweetheart would never stalk me and try to stage an attack..." The victim almost murmured the last part of the sentence, but they heard her statement.
"Look, I never staged the attack!" The only male in the table defended.
"Then prove it." The florist provoked, but he was dead silent, along with everyone at the table who was expecting his answer.
"I thought so." The H/C haired girl said in response to his silence.
Y/N won't say it, but she's slightly disappointed with the fact he didn't try to defend himself. If what Sherry was claiming was the truth, then she would have probably forgiven him. Plus, he kept interjecting and trying to clear things up and Y/N already assumed he had something to back up his innocence.
"Thanks for the food. Let's go, girls." L/N ordered, then hurriedly left for the exit.
"Thanks for the food... again." Evelyn thanked them; She's a bit uncertain whether she should thank Sherry when Y/N already thanked her.
"You're welcome." The pretty girl said with a smile on her face.
"Take care!" Evelyn said with a smile on her face, then followed her friends towards the exit.
Before the girls could touch the doorknob, a certain fox thought of a clever statement that would bring them skidding in their heels.
"By the way, Mr. Baguette here wants to court you!" Sherry teased the childhood sweethearts which caused them to explode from the unexpected humiliation.
"SHERRY WILL YOU SHUT UP!?" Polnareff screeched as he slammed their table again, which caused a volcano of giggles to erupt from his sister's mouth.
