▬▬ 𝓢.herry could tell that her brother really liked Y/N.
He didn't exactly voice his interest in Y/N, but you could say she's psychic. Just kidding, it was her intuition that told her Polnareff liked Y/N. Besides, she really wanted to see for herself whether her intuition was right.
If it was, you could call her the Ultimate Intuition!
"Fine, fine, but where are you guys planning to hang out this time?" Polnareff asked as he tried his best to look and sound like he wasn't interested, but he knew fairly well that he contradicted himself when he began acting like he didn't care.
"Let's go to that flower field nearby! The one with cabbage roses." Sherry suggested whilst wearing that joyful look on her face.
"Fine but, you lead the conversation-" Polnareff muttered but then he saw the look that was forming on her face.
The look she wore said that she knew. The realization made his face drop but his fear of being found out skyrocketed.
"Hah. Coward." The raven-haired girl countered him with a smug look on her face.
Sherry's intuition was right all along. Now all she had to do was become their cupid. She predicted this could be fun, for her at least. Watching an oblivious girl and her loveable but annoying brother trying to understand their feelings for each other sounded like something she would enjoy. Heck, she could even start a matchmaking show or a novel out of this.
"Am not!" The silver-haired male huffed while puffing his cheeks at her.
"What's that? You're scared of talking to a girl?" Sherry teased him with an exaggerated gasp.
Polnareff had enough of her. He was about to stand up and give her a piece of his mind, but the curly-haired girl had escaped before he could lay a finger. His anger increased along with his irritation. The boy didn't know the exact reason his sister ran away, but he had a feeling she might snitch on him. He was so going to kill her if she called the L/N residence just to snitch on him.
"Sherry, get back here!"
It was the next day. The day Polnareff dreaded and the day Sherry and Y/N looked forward to. This day frightened Polnareff because he didn't know what was going to happen. He knew what was going to happen obviously but; he felt like something unexpected would happen.
The boy already exposed himself to his sister and knowing her, she probably had something up her sleeve. Although he knew her fairly well, he didn't know what she was intending to do... He wasn't even sure whether Sherry was trying to humiliate or help him. But the thought of the unknown was heightening his anxiety and fear of being humiliated. It was brimming to spill out and cause chaos.
"Mr. Baguette!" Y/N's bubbly voice was enough to snap him out of his state, however, it also snapped something else within him.
"For the last time stop calling me Baguette!" He unintentionally snapped at her.
Silence had cut through the warm and welcoming atmosphere. Y/N staggered back in confusion; She didn't mean to make him mad. While Sherry awkwardly shifted on her spot while silently screaming Polnareff had messed up. As for the silver-haired male, he just stood there, confused and petrified to look into any of their eyes.
The boy wanted to scream and run in shame, but he couldn't bring himself to do it. Their stares were nailing him to his spot. He didn't mean to get ahead of himself, but he couldn't prevent it because emotions were like that. We made our own emotions to make us feel messed up; He could only hope that one day he'd be rational enough to not let love or his emotions render him like this, render him useless.
"I- uh... sorry, let's just get this over with." The male ushered and began walking away from the girls. Just like before, he kept his distance, but this time his thoughts were distracting him.
The girl didn't understand what she did wrong, but she went along with her friend. She won't say it out loud, but she's kinda bummed out. She was expecting the three of them to hang out together, but she ruined that chance for them.
The H/C haired girl was about to doze off while making flower crowns, but a certain raven-haired girl wouldn't allow her to do so. Before Y/N could wander to her mind palace, her dear friend suggested she make Polnareff a flower crown. With her newfound determination, she finished the flower crown for Polnareff.
You could even say she finished it before you could say "Quidditch".
Y/N barely knew flower language, but she made sure to add peonies and deep red roses. The translation of the flowers slightly sounded over the top, but she wanted to make sure Polnareff knew she's sorry for whatever she did. Once the girl finished, she quietly approached the silver-haired male who was angrily mumbling to himself.
"Hey, Jean." The girl murmured and kept her distance from him.
Polnareff stopped his tracks, it almost seemed like she scared him. He didn't even realize that Y/N called him by his name, just like he requested.
"Yeah?" He asked, but his back was still facing her.
Since the male had his back against her, she took it upon herself to put the crown on his head.
"Here." The H/C haired girl said as she gently placed the flower crown on him.
"I'm sorry about the nickname... I didn't think it'd bother you." The girl apologizes while fidgeting with her fingers.
"I- Y/N, it's fine. I'm just not used to nicknames." The silver-haired male excused, but he knew that was a fat lie.
"Really? But Sherry calls you White Knight, and that's a really cool nickname!" The H/C haired girl beamed while jumping from her spot with excitement. The boy would even admit she was emitting too much excitement for his taste.
"White Knight doesn't mean what it actually means." Polnareff stated, and he was starting to assume that Y/N was stupid- rather ignorant of most things. Her ignorance gave her charm, but it was slightly frustrating having to explain the basic things that everyone usually has common knowledge of.
"It doesn't? But girls like knights and stuff! Also, I want to be a knight!" The girl responded while wearing that enormous smile on her face.
As for Polnareff, he couldn't help but chuckle. She was too cute and oblivious. How was she this Cute and oblivious? Was it even possible for her to be this Cute and oblivious? Were those two traits the reason why his feelings bloomed for her?
"Anyway, I'm sorry about the way I reacted earlier; I'm just... not used to nicknames that don't involve making fun of me." The boy muttered while silently recalling the annoying girl who proudly claimed to be his sister. Don't get him wrong, he loved Sherry as any sibling should, but he couldn't deny she was annoying.
"If it makes you feel any better, I like baguette." Y/N admitted with a smile on her face.
From this point on, Polnareff wasn't sure whether he should officially change his name to "Mr. Baguette" or speculate that this was her indirect confession to him. Now that he thought about it, she probably called him "Mr. Baguette" because she wanted to be friends with him, and giving him a nickname of something she liked, which would probably make her feel closer to him.
"I like macaroons too!" The girl added, which prompted the boy to laugh out loud.
From this point on, the awkward atmosphere that enveloped them earlier had dissipated. The warm and welcoming atmosphere watered the two. Both were evenly showered with smiles and joy, they even forgot that Sherry existed. The raven-haired girl was glad that they made up, but she didn't like the fact that she was third-wheeling. She made a mental note to bring another person for their future play dates so they make fun of her brother whenever he gets flustered.
Those were the good ole days... The sweet memories wherein she could normally smile like any other person- like any other child rather. Y/N hoped she could turn back time to relive the joyful memories from the past. Speaking of, she missed his laugh; She couldn't help but wonder, how had Polnareff been?
