Chapter 24

There has to be at least four feet of snow, I thought, as I allowed the vines keep my feet from touching the snow. TLo enjoys it, flailing snow everywhere. He really is six. I don't know why I need to keep reminding myself this.
"Hey kid, can you tell me why we need wyverns to get to the place?" I ask.
"Well, there's other islands. It's kind of like Earth, where it has neighboring planets. Except they are islands, not planets. You and me are on the biggest island, Siva. There are three others, Triste, Pylu, and Erant. All of which are combined into Jaylemm." he says.
"Okay, which island is the leader located?" I ask.
"One, just call him the king, two, he is located on Erant, the island furthest away from Siva." he says, "And you can only get there in this millennium through wyvern. It's kind of hard to explain, but they can fly very fast, but to you it only lasts four days. It's a really funny feeling." he explains.
"But that makes no sense. If they move at supersonic speeds, then the impact on your face would kill you." I say.
"Like I said, it's a funny feeling. And supersonic is an over-exaggeration. Wyverns here have this weird barrier-type thing surrounding their scales, which makes it feel comfortable if it wants to fly fast." he explains.
"Oh, so when they domesticated them, it made it ideal for transportation?" I ask.
"Precisely. Well, I wouldn't say domesticated." he says, as a large figure flies down from the mountain tops. It looked just like a dragon, except with only two legs. It has a twenty-foot wingspan, and its grey scales were tinted with teal. I back up a few steps, making room for it to land. "Carl!" TLo yells, giggling, "How are you, girl?"
"Girl?" I yell.
"Yeah!" he says, letting the dragon nudge him in the stomach. It suddenly looks up, and grunts at me. "It's okay, Carl. This is Jemma. Carl, Jemma. Jemma, Carl." he says, patting her on the head. Its wings fold back in, and it licks some snow off the ground.
"It looks like an over sized chicken." I say, watching as it runs after a rabbit.
"Rude! How would you like it if I called you an undersized- something!" he says, gesturing for Carl to return.
"Shoot! I just remembered something!" I say, kicking a heap of snow out of frustration.
"What is it now?" he asks.
"I've got two people at home who need to come back." I say. He rolls his eyes, and pushes me again. I land in our living room floor, blocking the view of the tv, which the only channel we have now is of a girl advertising milk.
"Hey! I was watching that!" Luna yells. I take a breath of relief.
"I don't care, where's Ro?" I ask.
"Turning your room into a science lab." she says, tilting her head to see the tv. I roll my eyes and run into it, and the smell of laundry detergent fills my nostrils.
"What are you doing?" I yell.
"I didn't think this room was being used, so I took it into my own hands." he says, pouring a red liquid into a lime green one. It turns purple, and fizzes over.
"I have a sign on my door that says 'Jemma's Room'!" I yell.
"Oh, I didn't see it." he says, removing his protective glasses. "Whatcha need?" he asks.
"For you to come with me," I say, taking his hand and dragging him out. "Luna, I would appreciate if you stayed in Aly's body for awhile. She hates me, so I'll never get her to follow." I say, letting TLo push them into the portal. I jump in, not wanting to be pushed again.
Ro looks around, and looks at me with confused eyes, "Why are we here? And who's this kid?" he says, pointing at him.
"This is TLo. He's six, has the power of shapeshifting, can make portals, and is a crazed psychopath. TLo, meet Luna and Ro." I say, hurrying the introduction. "We are here because this kid knows how to get to the king." I explain.
"How?" Ro asks, taking notes on a notepad.
"TLo, explain. I'm going to help the freezing princess." I say, walking over to Luna.
After getting a coat for Luna and letting TLo explain everything, he calls Carl over again. Which led to another explanation fiasco.
"So, who's ready to find your own wyvern?" TLo asks.
"We have to find our own?" I ask, "Why can't we ride on yours?"
"Because even though they're dragons, they aren't very strong. It's hard enough just getting their own bodies off the ground, let alone carry another person." he explains. I sigh, and we continue the walk up to the mountain peak.
"You have viney things, Jemma. Can't we ride on those, and save us the walk up?" Luna asks, dragging her feet in the snow.
"Hm. I guess I never thought of that." I say, sprouting a tall oak tree. Luna jumps onto a branch, and I help lift Ro off his feet. I continue letting the tree grow about another ten meters, then I bent the trunk so we could move horizontally. We land a good ten feet from the mountain peak. Ro looks down, covering his mouth. "What's wrong?" I ask.
"I'm afraid of heights." he says, hugging the side of the mountain. There was a path leading up to the top, which would be handy, if it was plowed.
"Are you serious?" Luna says.
"Um, yeah." he says, exhaling.
"How do you think we're going to get to a different island if you're afraid of heights?" I ask.
"I'll make it work, don't worry. I'll be fine." he says, balancing upright.
"Okay, whatever. Let's continue moving." I say, as TLo continues to ride on Carl.
"Come on, slow pokes!" he says, giggling. "Race you to the top!"
I hop from vine to vine, continuing forward to the top. I stop to look behind me, and Luna walks in a cleared path, as Ro takes a pickaxe and starts to climb.

"How did you find a clear path? The mountain is covered base to peak in snow!" I ask.
"It's a little secret I've been hiding for awhile." she says, smiling.
"What is it?" I ask.
She smiles, and points her pointer finger at a drift of snow. Fire shoots from her finger at the drift, and it melts away. "It's quite handy during winter. Other than that, it also produces gunpowder." she says.
"Hm. Interesting." I say, moving forward. Ro had caught up a lot since we were talking so much.
A little bit later we all had finally reached the top of the mountain, and were looking down into the cave that was dug throughout the whole mountain range.
"Couldn't we have just found an easier entrance?" Ro asks, sitting on the snow-covered ground to keep himself steady.
"This is the only entrance, silly." TLo answers.
"How do we do this now?" I ask.
TLo walks into the cave, where there was four forks in the tunnel. I line up at the first one, Luna, the third, and Ro finds the fourth. It was pitch black, and the few light was coming from the entrance of the cave.
"What do we do to find one?" I ask.

"Have fun!" he says, pushing me down the tunnel.
