Day 1: Sakura

A/N

So two things before we start this:

A) These oneshots are not going to be long (think about 700 – 1000 words each). I wanted to do more, but writing the weekly story combined with how busy life has been lately, I couldn't make it. However, there are many more people who have attempted/will attempt this challenge and do a much better job, so check them out!

B) The cover of this book is a drawing inspired by this very prompt. It was drawn by the lovely ZappyZaps, so please show her some love as well!

Anyway, enjoy <3

Season 1

He slid the letter under her door, then left in a hurry.

Just by his footsteps alone she had managed to recognise him through the other side of the door. Nevertheless, she let her curiosity guide her, picking up the envelope with a frown.

She smiled at the heart-shaped sticker, peeling it to let the letter be revealed inside.

His handwriting was quite bubbly, surely better than hers. The ink was blue, albeit a bit faded. She knew exactly which pen he had used; the one by his desk in the workshop, the one he had taken so many notes in in the past. Ironically enough, it was the same pen she had used to write her number on his hand.

She didn't know what to expect from the 'surprise' the letter mentioned. She kept her cheongsam, not changing to anything else in fear of standing out. They did have a knack for overdressing, however.

She headed out the door, unsure of what to expect.

She loved being the one piloting the ship; it meant that she could choose the landing spot.

That one in particular was in the hills close to the city, the ones she would always fawn over from the Monastery's edge. The thick, luscious forests were always a beautiful sight to behold, but it was also one of the most unique, for their pink petals would always match perfectly with the sunset's colours.

Even as she was walking through them, looking in the distance for the falling sun, she still wanted to get even closer. When a petal landed on her nose, she felt satisfied.

Sakura trees, she believed they were called. Cherry blossoms, perhaps, but there was no cherry in sight. She remembered an old one back in Ignacia, but it had perished completely by the time she turned ten. She wished she could have brought the tree there instead to grow along with its peers.

Close to the edge of the hill, she spotted something different.

A blanket was draped over the grass, a closed basket was resting on top. A few juice boxes were organised on one side, wrapped sandwiches on the other.

Her smile had reached her ears. She knelt down to check inside the basket, only to realise that one thing was missing; the host himself.

A bunch of petals floated down towards her from the sky. She didn't have to look up to realise who it was. And, although she would have never done that in front of the others, she didn't resist giggling like a little girl.

Finally, she looked up at the boy sitting on the branch above her, lightly shaking it to let a few more petals fall.

His smile was more confident than usual as he waved, but then panic overtook him and he returned to his usual shyness.

"I didn't think of the food," he said, immediately climbing down to brush away the petals that had landed inside the basket.

His cheeks only reddened when she chuckled.

He cleared his throat, turning towards her. "Uh, right." He took her hand and made her sit down with him. "Kai mentioned that you like these trees and I wanted to make it up to you since our first date was... yeah." He looked into her eyes unsurely. "Surprise?"

She threw her arms around him, almost pushing him to the ground. "Thank you," she said, cradling him a little. Then, in the spur of the moment, she kissed his cheek.

He didn't get to react before she looked away, her arm stretching past him to reach for the tupperware in the basket. When she found chocolate cake inside it, she smirked.

"Yeah, I had to rush the preparations... I think we should eat that before Cole finds out," he said.

"You didn't tell the others about this?"

"And have them spy on us? No way. Kai still doesn't trust me after the rollercoaster fiasco."

She placed her hand over his. "I do. Don't listen to him, he's just jealous I scored a date first."

Instead of laughter, her joke was met with more uncertainty.

"Was it a good date?" he asked cautiously.

She pretended to think, then smiled. "Not the best," she said. "But with the best person."

His face lit up, and, before she could say anything else, he took the chance to kiss her back.
