Unexpected (Movie)

Valentines Day.

A day of pure bliss.

Or, if you're a freckled lightning ninja who plans on asking his three-year-long crush to be his Valentine, then you'd be filled to the brim of the bucket with nervousness.

Jay has a crush on Nya. It's painfully obvious, and everyone in their school knows about it.

Strangely enough, however, Nya doesn't seem to notice any romantic feelings toward her from Jay, and no one seems to be able figure out how she doesn't notice it.

It was February 13, and Jay was just about to head off for his and Nya's "Hammock Night" as they called it. A night where they go to a park, hang up a hammock, climb in, and talk about pretty much anything. It's a night for just them, away from the other ninja.

"Hammock, pillows, and Nya will bring the blankets," Jay thought to himself, checking off his mental list.

   "Jay, are you leaving soon?"

   "U-uh, in 5 minutes, Mom."

"Do you have the mistletoe, sweety?" Edna asked with a smile, while her offspring's face dipped itself in red dye, along with lowering into his scarf.

"Mom..." he mumbled, "that's a Christmas thing..."

"Oh, I know deary; I'm just so excited for tomorrow!" she exclaimed excitedly.

"I'm just hoping she says yes..." Jay whispered as he picked up his stuff, "I should probably get going now. See you later."

   "Love you, Jay!"

   "Love you too, Mom!"

Jay then started the walk to Ninjago City's Central Park, where he and Nya went to almost every night to talk with each other.

OoOoOoOoOoOoO (Mah first time skip. woo.)

"Hey Jay!" Nya exclaimed, barely being able to stand the wait for her favorite time of day.

"H-hey Nya," Jay stuttered, "You have the blankets?"

"Of course I do," she said gesturing to her backpack.

   "Good."

They started walking over the grass and climbed up a hill with two trees halfway up the short trail to the top. They were about five feet apart. This is where they always came for their night out, and it gave them a beautiful view of the rest of the park. When the sun went down, that was the best time of all. Countless stars, about as many as the freckles on Jay's face, Nya once said. As to how they see all those stars with the millions of lights around them, no one may ever know.

Despite the strange vision these two seem to have, the stargazing was their favorite part of going into the park every night, of course setting aside being with each other for several hours completely undisturbed.

They began setting up the hammock, and after that, the two ninja grabbed the blanket and pillows.

"One blanket?  That's weird..."  Jay thought to himself, "Uh, hey Nya, I think you forgot a blanket."

"Oh, I forgot one?" she looked over at Jay's hands, "Oh shoot, I did. Uh, you okay with sharing it?"

That question caused Jay to blush. But he couldn't make Nya go back to her house just for an extra blanket, and he'd be lying if he said he'd rather go and get a blanket himself than share a single blanket with Nya.

But he said he'd be fine without, and that she could have it.

"Okay, but I wouldn't mind sharing it, just in case you get cold or anything," Nya shrugged, Jay only blushing more.

Nya climbed into the hammock, and Jay soon followed.

After talking for about four hours, Jay suggested they should get back home, as it was getting late. Nya however, had other intentions.

"Actually, is it okay if we stay longer?" she asked not-so-inconspicuously.

   "Why?"

"I just... don't want to leave quite yet."

"Well, okay. How much longer are you thinking?"

"What time is it?" she inquired.

   "About 11:00," he answered.

   "So then... about another hour?"

"All the way until midnight? That's pretty late... I guess eleven is pretty late as well though"  he thought, "Um, sure, but I'll need to ask Mom."

"Okay, I'll ask Kai as well." she said, even though she doesn't need to. Kai has stated more times than she can count that she can stay out with Jay as long as she wants, she just needs to text him when she's on her way home.

Jay: Hey, Nya asked if we could stay out here till midnight, that ok?

Mom: Oh, sure! Make sure you sleep in tomorrow though!

Jay: Thanks. And I never thought I would see the day a parent wanted their teenager child to sleep in lol

"My mom said it's okay. What did Kai say?" He asked, hoping her brother was feeling generous tonight.

"He also just said it was okay," Nya said plainly.

   "Alright then."

For the next hour or so, they lay mostly in silence, admiring the stars above them. The endless expanse struck awe through them every night. They almost look like simple bio-luminescent stones decorating the ceiling of a gigantic cave underneath a mountain, like that one video game Jay played once upon a time.

"Woah!" Nya's sudden exclamation startled Jay.

"W-wha? What is it?" Jay asked.

"I think I just saw a shooting star!" she excitedly exclaimed.

"O-oh, cool! Did you make a wish?"

   "Heh, maybe."

"What did you wish for?" Jay asked curiously.

"Well, first of all, you don't know whether I made a wish or not. And second, if I did, don't you know I can't tell anyone? It wouldn't come true!"

"As if that matters!" he laughed, "Just because you said what you want most to a star doesn't mean it's gonna happen, regardless if you tell anyone!"

"I know that!" she said as both were laughing their butts off. Late nights unlock a side of you that you didn't even know you had.

"So then what is it?" Jay asked after calming down a bit.

   "Heh, I'm still not telling."

   "Why?"

   "I'm not telling that either."

"Ugh, fine." he said in defeat.

Several more minutes of silence, and a clock somewhere in Ninjago struck twelve.

Nya looked at her phone. "12:00. Should I do it now?"  she thought to herself. She then looked over to Jay. "Maybe I should..."

   "Hey Jay?"

   "Yeah?"

   "What day is it?"

"Saturday, February 13, at..." he took a moment to look at his phone, " O-oh, it's actually V-valentines Day, Sunday February 14 at 12:03 AM." She giggled a little at his overly-specific answer. "Why do you ask?" he then questioned.

She cleared her throat and answered "Well, I just wanted to ask if, maybe you'd wanna be... my... Valentine...?" She looked away when she finished her last word.

"What!? She's asking me? Did I even hear her right?" The blue ninja thought in confusion as his face shown a look of surprise. "W-what d-did you j-just say?" he then asked.

"U-uh..." Nya started with a visible blush on her face, "I-i wanna know if you want to be my Valentine."

   "Y-you're asking me, though?"

   "Yeah?"

   "Why!?"

"W-well... u-uhm..." Nya thought for a second, "Might as well go all out..."

   "I k-kinda like you..."

10,000 points to Jay's stomach, gaining 1.24 flips per second!

"She likes me..." Jay could hardly believe his ears. His very happy ears. "You like me?"

   "T-that's what I said."

   "Do y-you mean it?"

"Would I joke about something about this?" she asked rhetorically, still not looking at Jay.

   "W-well, uhm... no? I guess? I d-don't know..."

She finally glanced over at her favorite ninja. He expressed too many emotions to count. One she could easily define was confusion.

"I'd love to be your V-valentine."

She lay there, her mouth opening from shock.

   "A-and I l-like you too, Nya."

Nya's already wide eyes became even wider.

Jay's scarf was proving to be a useful tool right now as he hid all traces of a face from anyone's sight. The only thing Nya felt was happiness. She was flustered as well, as one tends to be when they confess their love to their 3-and-a-half-year-long crush.

She reached out her hand and gently pulled his scarf down, so she could see his face. He looked back at her with a nervous look on his face.

"Wait." Jay said, "Did you bring one blanket on purpose?"

   "Heheh. Yeah..." Nya replied.

   "Do you mind, then?"

   "I already said you could."

"Good, because I was actually starting to get cold."

Jay smiled the biggest smile he could muster and pulled the blanket over both of them. After about 20 minutes though, Edna began to get worried about Jay,  and then they had to split apart from each other. All that matters now though, is that now Jay and Nya are together, with many kisses and cuddles to come.

"Oh, by the way Jay," Nya said as they were about to part, "this is what I wished for."
