A Very Jaya Christmas [Movie]
It had been a cold morning, that in Ninjago City, a few days before Christmas. Building and apartments, strewn with colorful lights and all covered in a thick layer of powdery snow. The whole city seemed abuzz with Christmas cheer, the feeling seeming to even touch the distant volcano, also covered in snow and dots of flashing lights. Perhaps they turned off the volcano for the season.
A teenage boy with curly deep brown hair ran through the streets.
"This gift will be perfect for her!" Jay thought to himself as he weaved through the crowds. He stopped for a second as he passed a street. Down the road was Ninjago City's Grande Tree, the largest tree they could afford to cut and put on display. Jay snapped out of his awe. "Can't get distracted, or I'm gonna be late!"
Jay continued with a sprint, careful to avoid any ice or bumping into people as he ran. Finally, Jay reached-
"Your destination is on the right."
... Thank you Google Maps.
Jay knocked on the wreath-dawned door. He waited.
He waited.
He waited.
He wa- Okay what's taking Nya so long?
Finally, as the door opened, Jay laid his eyes upon what seemed to him an angel.
"Jay, you're here!" Nya said loudly as she ushered him in and gave him a quick and tight hug. "Come on, the others are in here, and they're getting impatient."
"Heh, sorry for being late." Jay said, his face quite red, and not just from the cold he just came out of. "I needed to stop by a store on the way, and the line took way too long." He took off his boots and coat before following Nya into the living room.
"That's no problem Jay, just glad you're here," Nya smiled sweetly enough to rival the gingerbread house on the counter. Or, no- was that a gingerbread volcano? I suppose even evil warlords have taken to the commercialism of Christmas. Charlie Brown really had a point.
"Yo, Jay, it's about time. We've been waiting forever." Cole said, lying down on the couch.
Zane played an mp3 before speaking up. "Erm, ackshually, Jay is in fact only 9 minutes and 24 seconds late. That is: not, forever."
Ignoring Zane, Kai slapped Jay on the back. "Wassup, Jay? You ready to open some gifts?"
"Oh, um, yeah! I've got these things here... um, where should I put them?"
"Well, under the Christmas tree would probably work." Nya stated obviously, wearing a teasingly beautiful smirk.
"O-oh, right, of course, heh.." Jay set his bag down and pulled the neatly wrapped gifts out and placed them by the other presents.
As Jay knelt down, Cole got down and whispered to him, "Hey, I hear there's a secret hidden around here. Not sure what kind of secret though. All I know is that it might be in the kitchen after we have dinner."
Jay looked at Cole quizzically, but had no time to talk back before Cole got up and sat back on the couch. "Ooookaaayy... That was weird." Jay thought to himself. Thinking no more of the matter, Jay stood up from the presents and turned toward the group. He looked for a place to sit, seeing the only available spot was, "Next to Nya?!? Oh man, it's gonna be hard to focus with her right next to me..." Jay thought, disregarding the fact that he is always distracted by Nya, regardless of where in the room either of them are.
Jay quietly stepped his way over to the couch, eyes on the floor or otherwise anywhere else besides another person. As he sat down, Nya simply smiled. Could Jay ever get over smile? Probably not. He seems addicted, even. Like that uhhh that uhh posing doll thing with the Stupid Burger from Spudsy's.
"Okay, now that we're all here and settled, we can start with the gift opening!" Luh Loyed said.
"Oh, wait, let me get the cookies! You all need at least one as we get our gifts!" Koko said, dashing into the kitchen. She returned with a plateful of round and LEGO-man shaped cookies. As she passed them around, Lloyd began with the gifts.
"Okay, so this one is for..."
-------------------------------------------------
Jay leaned back in his chair, having just finished a wonderful Christmas dinner that Koko had cooked up for them all.
"That was a great turkey, Mrs. G." Cole said
"Thank you Cole! I'm glad you enjoyed it."
Nya stood up. "I can help you clean up."
Cole nudged Jay. Jay simply looked at him, confused. Cole gestured to Nya.
"What does he want me to do? Wait... is he saying I should offer to help Nya?" Yes jay you dense fluffboy that is exactly what he's implying. "O-oh, okay then. Wait who are y-"
"Oh, that's okay, dear. I wouldn't want to take you away from time with your friends."
"U-uhm, I could help her..." Jay mumbled. Nya's eyes lit up, her beautiful smile growing.
"That's a great idea! C'mon, Jay!" Nya grabbed Jay's hand - Oh goodness she grabbed his hand, the readers are gonna faint and we haven't even hit the crux of the story - and dashed into the kitchen.
Jay dried off the dishes as Nya washed them. "I suppose being the water ninja would mean she does the washing." He glanced down, seeing the light blue scarf she dawned. She had just gotten it earlier that night, a gift from Jay, and she hadn't taken it off since she laid her eyes upon it.
"Hey, thanks again for the scarf." Nya said, keeping her eyes on the dishes in front of her. "I really like it."
Jay snapped out of his staring, choosing to focus on his drying (attempting to, at least). "O-oh, yeah, I- uh, I figured you might like it, since you like blue so much."
Nya smiled, and- wait, is that a blush...? "Yeah, it's an amazing gift... I-it, um- Did I just stammer? It even sorta matches with yours." Nya looked away, almost seeming embarrassed. "No, I didn't stammer... right? I couldn't have. Surely not."
Jay's face flared up with a red that could match the ornaments on the tree. "O-oh-OH WEll I-I uiajdiufjaf I uh-" Man, Jay did not prepare himself for this. "It- I wasn't, uh, I wasn't trying to mmmmmmake it match or anything... Um, besides, yours is blue, and mine is orange, so um, It's not like they match a whole lot-"
"Blue and orange are complimentary colors, right?" Nya looked over at him, smiling teasingly with a face that looked a little more red than usual.
Jay was having a hard time deciphering the meaning of Nya's words. Either she was simply pointing out a semi-fun fact, or, perhaps, it almost seemed like she was flirting. In any case, Jay was extremely hot in the face at the idea of him and Nya being "complimentary" and a "match," disregarding the fact that she had been talking about the scarves.
"I- I suppose they are." Jay muttered out, continuing to dry the dishes Nya handed him.
Jay finally put away the last dish. Nya leaned against the sink and tilted her head back. As Jay walked back over to her to drain the sink out, Nya suddenly let out a short, sharp gasp. Jay quickly looked up at her, alerted by her sound.
"What is it, Nya? Did you hurt yourself?"
Nya stood frozen, her eyes (planted inside her very, very red face) glued to the ceiling. Jay followed her gaze, and, low and behold (or is it high and behold... since it's above them?), a little piece of mistletoe hung taped to the ceiling.
Jay copied and pasted Nya's gasp, with an equally strong blush coming to his face.
They both looked down, staring wide-eyed at each other for a moment, before quickly looking very far away from each other. Nya pushed herself off the sink, now holding a very awkward pose, turned away from Jay. "What the heck. What the heck do I do. What the heck do I do. WhattheheckdoIdoWhattheheckdoIdoWhattheheckdoIdoWhattheheckdoIdo-"
Meanwhile, Jay covered his face with his scarf. He didn't have so many fast thoughts. Instead, he just stood there, completely motionless, frozen in both place and mind.
Still not knowing what to do, Nya turned around slowly, peeping her eyes in Jay's direction, still trying to keep her face hidden. Not Middle-East hidden, but y'know. She saw how nervous Jay looked, and she guessed that he seemed almost scared. Taking a deep breath, she turned the rest of the way around, straightening her tense arms to her sides. She was now facing him, but kept her eyes on anything besides him. She cleared her throat, coughing a bit.
"W-well... um..." Okay, that was definitely a stammer that time.
As she had begun talking, Jay tensed up. He slowly turned, barely showing his eye out of his scarf, locking eyes with Nya for a moment before he turned away swiftly again. With the glimpse Nya saw of his face, plus his ears, she could tell it was very red. "...cute..."
Nya kept moving her eyes about, trying to think of some way to get out of this, despite how much she wanted to stay in it. "W-we uh- We d-don't- don't have to uuhhh..." Nya attempted to fight her stammering. She couldn't bring herself to say anymore. She had used what courage she had to say what she could, and she didn't think she could say anything else. Especially when she, in fact, desperately did want to kiss the fluffboy in front of her. "Ugh, can't this stupid feeling in my stomach go away!? And why is my face so freaking hot right now!?"
Nya put her hands to her face and, boy, she really wanted to scream or squeal or something. She couldn't, though, since that would probably alert the entire group to their predicament. Plus it might startle Jay.
Eventually, she let her hands down, still holding them tensely. She reached out and gently placed a hand on Jay's shoulder. He tensed up, his arms coming down slightly.
Mustering up her courage, Nya said, "H-hey, we... don't have to... um, i-if you don't, uh... don't want... to..."
Finally, Jay seemed to gather enough courage of his own, because he turned around himself and faced Nya, still very tense and hiding in his scarf. "...N-n-nya..." the scarf boy said quietly.
Nya's eyes grew as she looked up at him in attentiveness. "Y-yeah, Jay...?"
Jay seemed like he would explode any moment. "I- uh-"
Nya prayed he wouldn't accept her offer, even if she didn't know if she could handle it, much less if Jay would be able to.
Jay stood, unable to say any more. Deciding that he couldn't use words in any legible way, Jay decided in the spur of the moment to simply drop his hands swiftly to his sides, letting the scarf fall from his oh-so red face. He held his eyes shut, unable to look at the angel in front of him.
Said angel had no idea what to make of fluffboy's actions. She stared at him, his tomato face less than a foot away from her own. There had been more distance between them before, but it seems that they had moved a little closer in their turn-arounds.
"Wait... Oh, crap, he- He doesn't expect me to- just like that?! But- but he's the- he's the guy shouldn't he be the one making the first mo- is that what this is? Is- One of us is supposed to make a move? How am I supposed to do that? Am I supposed to do that? Well, he isn't doing anything else. He's just standing there, menacingly... Ugh no spongebob references right now I'm trying to figure out what to do!" Sorry, I had to.
With her brain running a mile a minute, she subconsciously began moving in closer, her pair of eyes glued to Jay's closed pair. "Wait, no- I- UGH just go for it I guess."
And with that, she shut her own eyes and closed the distance...
-------------------------------------------------
So uh basically they kissed and were very awkward and cute and Cole was the one who placed the mistletoe and also he took pictures
For the rest of the night, Jay and Nya simply sat together, and not-so-secretly held hands. The rest of the gang knew what was up though, they are all big Jaya shippers 😏
OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO
