The Glue Incident

"Come on, Cole. You can't die on me like that!" Jay screamed at his best friend who seemed to struggle.

"Shut it, Zaptrap! Red Visors are after me and all you do is run to the next check point. What about help?!" Cole retorted as he tried to blast some Red Visors, though they were obviously more.

"Cole, look out!" Jay screamed, although it was already too late, Cole was hit.

Game over!

Cole sighed. "I'll never play Prime Empire with you again. Even Thunder is a better co-player."

Jay tsk'ed. "Oh please, we would've won if it weren't for you, Mr I-need-to-go-back-to-collect-that-one-coin-we-left-behind!"

Cole rolled his eyes. "Whatever." He muttered before he grabbed his soda can and took some sips.

"Can I play now?" Lloyd whined as he approached the couch.

Zane looked up from his laptop and shook his head playfully as he heard Lloyd's childish behavior. He was sitting on the other couch with his laptop on his lap next to Kai who was on his phone, smiling while reading some comments on his latest Ninstagram post.

Cole got up and threw the controller into the Green Ninja's arms. "Knock yourself out, kid." Then he walked up to the beanbag next to the couch and sat down with his soda can in his hand and watched Jay switch the game mode to 1v1.

"You ready to lose?" Jay smiled as he looked over at Lloyd who threw himself onto the couch next to him.

"In your dreams!" Lloyd smiled back.

But before they could start the game, they heard loud, heavy footsteps coming from the hallway outside the living room. The door was open, so they all just turned around to look at who it was.

"It's probably Nya." Kai assumed.

Nya was called on a mission earlier and Master Wu only sent her because of the fact that there was an emergency at Ninjago's big aquarium (something like SeaWorld) and he knew she could handle it on her own. Jay and Kai were, of course, hardly okay with her going on her own, but they had faith in her, though the stinging feeling was still in their stomachs.

As the footsteps came closer, they all assumed she would enter the living room, but once she was at the doorway, they saw her stomping away with a pissed expression on her face.

"Nya?" Jay put down the controller and made his way out of the room, the others following behind.

He ran up to her and stopped her in her tracks by grabbing her hand, making her turn around to face him. "What's wrong?" He asked with worry plastered on his face.

"What happened, sis?" Kai asked.

"Well," She started, obviously raging. "it was all going well, those thugs were no match for me."

"Then why are you so ticked off?" Cole asked, earning a death stare from the Water Ninja.

"Apparently, their plan was to harden the water inside of the aquariums by pouring some type of super glue into them." She continued.

"Why?" Lloyd asked, confused.

"No idea." Nya answered.

"Then what happened?" Zane asked.

Nya started to breathe heavily at even just the thought of what had happened. Then she smiled wickedly, her right eye twitching, ready to kill someone with her looks only. "I stopped them, of course."

"That's great." Lloyd remarked.

"But not before they poured some of that super glue on my head!" She screamed angrily.

"What?!" All five boys exclaimed at the same time.

"Are you hurt?" Jay turned her towards himself and cupped her cheeks, looking all over her face for any signs of injuries.

Nya sighed. "Since I knew how you'd react, I quickly paid a visit to the ER because some glue got close to my eyes, but nothing happened. They also helped me remove the glue from my face."

The guys then let out some breaths they were holding in, completely relieved.

"But," She continued. The boys then looked at her, holding in their breaths again. "my freaking hair feels like a freaking rock!" She exclaimed.

At that, Jay brought his hand up to her hair and slowly tried to touch her ponytail, only to be met with a hard surface instead.

Nya sighed. "I'll go take a shower. Pray for me to get it out." She said as she walked away.

~ three hours later ~

The five boys were sitting around the round table, playing Uno together. Kai was smirking at his friends, holding his last card in his hand, ready to win. Just after Cole put a blue three on the pile of cards, Kai threw down his blue zero.

"Ha, losers!" He pointed at them and started to do his little victory dance.

Zane looked at him, his expressions blank, whereas the other three boys groaned. Jay put down his remaining three cards, revealing them to be two normal cards and one reverse card, and stood up.

"I'll go check on Nya, it's been a while." Then he left the room.

Once he stopped in front of her bedroom, he could hear grunting and something hitting the ground. He knocked, waiting for a response. After a short while, he lifted his hand again, ready to knock, when the door was suddenly yanked open. There stood Nya, panting and angry. She looked at him, waiting for him to say something.

"Any luck?" He asked in his usual, slightly squeaky tone.

"No!" She exclaimed. "Three hours, Jay," She held three fingers up to him. "I've been trying for three hours!"

"Can I come in?" Jay asked.

Nya sighed and stepped to the side, letting him enter her room. Once he stepped inside, he saw her vanity was covered in hair products and three of her brushes of all sorts. His eyebrows creased in sympathy. He turned around to see his Yang with a sad look on her face.

"I don't know what to do, Jay." She stated with sadness and exhaustion in her voice.

The Blue Ninja walked over to her and embraced her in a tight hug, rubbing comforting circles on her back while she threw her arms around his torso, resting her head in the crook of his neck, making him slightly shiver whenever she exhaled and the hot breath met his skin.

"We'll find a way, don't worry." He whispered into her ear, hoping to comfort her with his words.

She mumbled something he couldn't quite recognize as words. So he pulled away and flashed her a cute smile which he knew would melt her heart which it probably did, judging by the faint blush appearing on her cheeks.

He took another look at her vanity. "What are the scissors for?" He frowned as he saw the scissors laying on the ground in front of the vanity.

Nya sighed. "I couldn't get my hair tie out because it just got stuck to my hair, so I tried to cut it out, but it didn't help whatsoever."

Jay's eyes widened. 'It's that serious?!' He thought. He moved his hand up to her head. "May I?" He gestured towards her hair.

She turned around, giving him permission to touch her hair and make his own judgement. He firstly got in contact with her ponytail which really did just feel like a clump of dried clay. He then moved his way up to her hair tie which didn't feel any differently than her glued hair. After that, he tried to slowly drill with his pointer finger through her hair to get to her scalp, but it didn't work. A shocked expression made its way on his face. His fingers moved over to her bangs, which, fortunately, weren't glued together completely. The very ends were still soft, the glue must've avoided those parts.

Suddenly, Jay felt as if a lightbulb randomly popped up above his head. "I know!" He exclaimed, to which Nya turned around, ready to listen.

He smiled at her. "Wait here, I'll be right back." He said while sprinting out of her room.

She couldn't even respond to anything, all she did was watching him leave her room quickly. The Water Elemental raised an eyebrow at his sudden movement.

Nya grabbed her phone and sat down on the little chair in front of her vanity, checking her messages. She was just responding to Skylor when she heard Jay run back into her room. He had a big bowl in his hands with lots of items inside.

"What's that for?" She raised her eyebrow.

"You'll see," He flashed her a confident smile. "Just relax and let your handsome boyfriend handle the situation."

She chuckled. "Alright then, my handsome boyfriend. I trust you." She then turned around and faced her mirror.

Jay's heart fluttered at the words 'I trust you'. He smiled as he put the bowl down on her vanity and pulled out a ball of cotton and a small bottle of nail polish remover. He poured some onto the cotton ball and started to rub it on her hard ponytail.

To break the silence, he spoke up. "You know, I once glued a part of my hair when I was a little kid. My ma used nail polish remover to soften my hair, then washed it out with hair conditioner." He smiled while he continued to rub her hair with the cotton ball.

"Really?"

"Mhm, it was quite funny if I look back at it now." He chuckled at the thought.

"How did you even get glue into your hair?" She asked, closing her eyes, enjoying their little moment.

"Well," He then grabbed the bottle and poured more nail polish remover onto the cotton ball. "As you may know, I like to experiment with... well, everything."

She wanted to nod, but answered with a 'yes' instead.

When Jay felt her hair soften a bit on her ponytail, he smiled proudly and continued to rub the cotton ball on a different part. "My ma told me she found me with a bottle of glue in my hands outside. Apparently I tried to glue some metal parts together because I thought it was more effective than blow torching them."

"Well, I bet you weren't allowed to touch the blow torch back then?" She assumed.

"Exactly! Just wait until the part where I tried to sew the parts together... with literal needle and thread!"

They both laughed at that.

And so they continued, with Jay telling her a bit about his childhood which fit her current situation and both laughing at his silliness, until Jay was actually able to soften her hair enough to pull out her hair tie. He then held it up to her face, seeing her eyes widen in the mirror.

"It actually worked." She gasped.

"Told ya!" He then put the tie down and grabbed another bottle out of the bowl. Then, when the bowl was empty, he held it up to her. "Water?"

Nya held her hand up to the bowl and poured some water into it. He smiled at the half full bowl and put it back down onto the vanity. He then dunked both of his hands into the bowl and put them on her head, repeating the process until he could see her hair was wet enough to be dealt with. Then he grabbed the conditioner bottle and poured some into his hands and rubbed them together. Then he went through her hair with his hands, splaying his fingers in the process.

Once Nya actually felt his fingers touch her scalp, she automatically relaxed more and more into his touch.

Jay then took a hair brush of hers and carefully attached it to her hair, pulling it down. He didn't want to hurt her, so he did it very slowly. It was a little rough to get it through her hair at the beginning, but once a strand actually turned out soft, he repeated the process until every single part of her pair was smooth again.

"And I think we're done!" He exclaimed happily.

He watched her open her eyes through the mirror. Nya then put her hand on her head, only to be met with smooth, wet hair. She combed it a little with her fingers and realized that there was no more glue inside. She smiled very brightly at her boyfriend through the mirror, then turned around.

Just as Jay put down the hair brush, he was embraced in a bone crushing hug. It startled him at first, but he quickly hugged back, smiling cutely.

"Thank you." He heard his Yang's muffled voice.

He leaned a bit back and kissed her forehead. "Anything for you."

She smiled. After both got lost in each other's eyes for a bit, Nya regained her senses. "Wanna watch a movie?" She asked him.

He smirked. "Only if we cuddle."

Nya fake-gasped and held her hand to her heart, letting go of the hug. "What kind of a condition is that? I thought it was a guarantee already, Walker."

After a few seconds of complete silence, both started to laugh hysterically together and made their way onto her bed to get under the covers and spent the rest of the day together, cuddling, until one of them would eventually fall asleep.

Hear me out, guys. I quickly googled how to get glue out of hair so the nail polish remover thingy was suggested on a website, don't judge me if it was complete nonsense hehe. Thanks for reading, by the way.
