Parental Guidance

This story contains mentions of... the dirty.

Set sometime after Prime Empire.

It was quiet in the monastery in the early noon of that wonderful Spring day. But it wasn't quiet because the Ninja were asleep or out, no. They had visitors over. And not just any visitors, it was Mr and Mrs Smith, Kai and Nya's parents.

Now many would think the kids would be happy, but their feelings were definitely anything but happy. Don't get them wrong, they love their parents, but with them turning up with no warning whatsoever wasn't how they wanted it.

It all started in the morning.

Flashback.

The family in the monastery was having breakfast all sleepily. They were forced to train until 12 am as a punishment for sleeping in on sunrise exercise the day before. All of them. It was weird, but nothing new.

They all chatted happily while eating their cereals and drank their coffees and orange juices. Everything was peachy until they heard a bell.

"I'll get it." Jay said as he quickly got up from his seat and rushed out the room.

He ran up to the front gates, god knows where he got so motivated from, and opened the doors. What he didn't expect though, was his soon-to-be parents-in-law standing on the other side.

"Jay!" Mrs Smith beamed and threw her arms around her daughter's boyfriend.

"Mrs Smith!" Jay tried to beam back as he embraced her rather warm arms.

She pulled away and took a good look at him. "Oh, no need to be formal, silly. Just call me Maya! You're gonna be my future son-in-law anyway." She remarked.

She should not have said that, because Jay's face turned red immediately. Maya just laughed it off and stepped to the side.

"Hello, Walker." Ray Smith greeted. Jay expected a hug from him as well, but only got a handshake. And the handshake was tight.

Jay smiled back. "Hello to you too, Mr Smith."

Mr Smith laughed whole heartedly. "It's Ray for you." He remarked. Then he stepped closer, his face dropping intimidatingly, causing Jay to gulp. "I hope you're not treating my princess wrong." His voice dropped down a few octaves.

Jay's confidence also dropped down a few levels. "Of c-course not, s-sir." He stuttered.

Ray started to laugh again and surprised the Blue Ninja by hugging him from all of the sudden. "I'm just messing with you." He said as he pulled away. "Jay, I know for sure from what she's told me you're the right one." Ray said quite proudly.

Jay's heart was beating faster. She's told her parents about him being the right one? "You really t-think so?" He asked.

Ray and Maya looked at each other. Then they looked back at Jay and nodded smilingly. That made Jay smile brightly as well.

"Hey Jay, who's-" Nya walked out and wondered about why Jay wasn't back yet, but got her answer as she looked at the people in front of her. "Mom, Dad!" She beamed. "What are you doing here?" She asked through gritted teeth. Nya did not expect them to be standing there and she wasn't really in the mood for having visitors, especially her parents, over.

"Nya!" Her mother embraced her in a very tight hug. "I've missed you so much!" Then, Maya pulled away and looked her up and down. "Sweetie, how are you?" She cupped her face.

"I'm good, how are you?" Nya answered as her face was still cupped, making her words sound mushy.

"We're good as well." She gestured towards her husband who then embraced his daughter in a tight hug.

Tight hugs were a Smith family thing, Jay knew that for sure.

"Hello, Darling." Ray greeted Nya.

"Hey Dad." She answered. "What are you doing here? I don't remember you guys telling me you'd come today." She remarked, her voice very high pitched.

"We're here to visit!" Maya beamed. "Where is your brother? And Wu? And the other boys? And Pixal?"

"They're all inside, eating breakfast." Nya answered.

"Could you show us the way?" Maya asked her daughter.

Nya looked back at the door of the monastery before turning back to her mother. "You just have to walk inside and listen for loud talking and occasional screaming. You're gonna find it on your own, trust me."

Maya then turned back towards her husband. "Come on, Ray. Let's go!" She waved towards him as she already made her way towards the door.

Ray followed her quickly and soon, they were both out of view.

Nya moved towards her boyfriend. "Did they say anything?" She asked worriedly.

Jay looked her dead in the eyes. "They told me they were convinced I was the right one for you and were very nice to me." He was still shocked himself, he had always expected Nya's parents to be just as overprotective as her brother.

Nya raised an eyebrow. "Seriously?"

"Yeah."

"That's weird... I would've thought they'd be overprotective as heck." She said as she looked towards the path her parents had walked on just a few seconds ago.

Jay turned towards her. "Believe me, I would've thought that too." Then he put his arms around her waist and pulled her closer. "But hey, I'll take that." He murmured against her lips before kissing her lightly.

Nya melted into it, but reluctantly had to pull away. "We have to go inside, we don't know what they're gonna be up to."

"Fine," He sighed as he pulled his face away from hers. "But we're not done here." He smirked.

She punched him lightly. "In your dreams, Sparky."

End of flashback.

So here they were. The siblings' parents in the living room, and the gang sitting around and telling them stories of their past missions.

"... and that's how my father sacrificed himself and therefore saved Ninjago by banishing the fake Anacondrai to the Cursed Realm." Lloyd finished.

Maya took a sip of her black coffee. "That's unbelievable. Garmadon was a very good friend of ours before he got bit by the Devourer." She sighed.

"Yeah, after he helped us defeat the Oni, he disappeared again. No one has seen him ever since." Kai then added.

"At least he disappeared after doing something good." Ray smiled to himself.

Maya put down her mug and smiled. "Where is your restrooms?" She asked.

"Just go down the corridor, turn right and walk down that corridor. It's the second door to your left." Nya answered.

Maya then smiled and walked out. After she still hadn't returned for about fifteen minutes now, Nya was both worried and suspicious. She put down her own mug of dark coffee and stood up. "I'll see where Mom is." Then she walked out of the room.

As she passed the various bedrooms in her way, she realized one of the doors was open. Then she saw it was, in fact, her own bedroom.

She groaned inwardly. Before she stormed inside, she wanted to know what her mother was doing in there, so she, being the trained Ninja she is, snuck up to her. As she peeked inside, she saw her mother standing in front of the wall where she had hung up a lot of photos, inspecting them carefully.

Nya then lowered her guard and walked inside. Then she saw it. A pair of boxer shorts casually hanging on top of her bedroom plant. Jay's. Her eyes widened. Her mother wasn't meant to see that in her room, no one was.

Before Maya could see Nya behind her, she tried her best to stay as unnoticed as possible to remove the underwear and hide it. She slowly creeped up to the plant, and as she was about to grab it-

"I know you're here."

Nya cursed inwardly. "Mom, what are you doing in my room?" She asked, hoping the conversation she thought about wasn't going to happen.

Maya didn't even look at her, her gaze was still locked onto the pictures. "I saw your door wide open and then saw the pictures on your wall. I couldn't help but walk in to look at them."

Nya smiled slightly as she realized the picture her mother was looking at. It was shot on her tenth birthday, where her and Kai were celebrating in the blacksmith's shop together. They both wore huge smiles on their faces.

Taking the boxers and quickly putting them under her bed, she walked up to her mother and stopped right next to her, looking at the same picture.

"He makes you happy, right?" Maya suddenly spoke up, startling her daughter.

"What? Umm, yeah. Yeah, he does." Nya spat out.

Maya smirked, still not looking at Nya. "And you really love him, don't you?" She asked further.

Nya looked at her mother, seeing her smirk, now fearing the worst. She swallowed hard. "I do." She answered.

"Why are you so nervous?" Maya asked.

"Nervous? Me? No, I'm completely normal." Nya laughed slightly.

Maya chuckled. "Nya, do you really think I didn't see that?"

Nya's eyes widened. "What do you mean?"

Her mother then turned towards her. "Jay's boxers you just hid." She said while not showing any emotion in both her tone and her facial expressions.

The Water Elemental was at a loss of words. Her cheeks heated up immediately. "I- no, that wasn't like that- umm... it was here because-"

"Nya," Maya chuckled again, confusing Nya. "You're grown now. He's your fiancé. It was only a matter of time."

Nya didn't know if that was a trick or if her mother was being serious. But before she could say anything, her mother continued.

Maya looked back at the wall of pictures. "I hope you used some type of protection."

Nya's cheeks were probably redder than her brother's gi. She looked away and nodded slightly.

"Good. I wouldn't want to be a grandmother just yet." Maya laughed. "It's better if we go back." She turned towards her daughter who was extremely blushing and probably dying inwardly.

"Uhhh, Mom? Is it okay if...." Nya fiddled with her fingers, still avoiding eye contact.

Her mother smiled at her daughter. "Don't worry, I won't tell anyone. Just get rid of the evidence better next time."

Nya still didn't look at her mother but nodded. "Thanks." She also said. Now all she did was hope that her mother would really keep it to herself and not tell it to her brother or father.

The former Elemental then pulled her daughter into a quick hug and walked out of the room, closing the door in the process.

Nya sighed shakily and plopped face down onto her bed, stretching her arms out. She was definitely done for the day.

Suddenly, she heard a knock on the door and the door squeaking open. "Hey, your mom told me you'd wanna talk to me?" She heard Jay speak. Perfect.

She rolled out of her bed and got up, staring him right into his soul.

"What's wrong? And why did she look at me like that?"

But Nya didn't answer to his questions. She walked past him and locked the door. Then she walked back and stopped right in front of him. "What am I supposed to do with you, boy?" She asked.

He frowned. "What?"

"I would slap you if you weren't that adorable." She continued.

"Nya, tell me what I've done." He insisted.

"Well, my mother walked into my room earlier, and made a wonderful discovery."

"Which is...?"

Nya then stepped away and pulled out his blue boxers from under her bed. She held it up to him, seeing his eyes widen.

"She did not see that, did she?!" Jay squeaked.

Nya then threw it right into his face. "She did!" She squeaked back. "And she knew exactly what happened!"

"No!" He covered his mouth, embarrassed and completely blushing.

"Yes!" The Master of Water flailed with her arms. Then she walked up to her boyfriend and stopped a few inches away from him. "She asked if we used freaking protection." She whispered-shouted.

Jay made some exasperated squeaking noises and paced around the room. "What did you tell her?!"

"I tried to deny it, but she already figured everything out. Then she said it was understandable and only a matter of time and told me to hide the evidence better next time." She said deep in thought of embarrassment. "She also promised me she would keep it to herself.

Jay stopped in his tracks. "That's why she looked at me like that just now." He realized.

Then, they heard a knock on the door. Nya quickly ran up to the door, unlocked it, and opened. On the other side, she could see Lloyd raising an eyebrow, probably at the locked door. "Everyone's waiting for you two." Then he walked away again.

Nya and Jay looked at each other. "Let's hope she lets us live it down." She sighed, taking his hand and walking out.
