An Unexpected Call (Part 3)

Okay so, uhhhh...
This was requested by two people now which actually caught me off guard because a part three was totally not planned. But here I am. Guess I'll put in some fluffy Jaya and the others' reactions to finding her.

This story contains some swearing.

"A year?!" Nya looked at her boyfriend as if she'd seen a ghost.

Which probably wouldn't have been her real reaction to seeing a ghost, considering she had fought many in the past.

"Uh huh," Jay nodded. "you've been gone for about a year."

Nya's mouth hung open, her mind not wanting to believe it. "But to me it was like three months maximum!" She exclaimed.

Her Yin sighed. "Then the time in the water must've been different."

Her lip quivered as she imagined her entire family grieving over her for a year, and her heart started to ache because of the fact that that actually happened in real life.

Nya looked up at her boyfriend as she was tightly in his embrace on her bed. They had decided to wait for the other Ninja to return from wherever the heck they had gone to and wanted to spend the small amount of time they had to themselves with each other.

Jay looked down to the girl he was holding and pulled her frame even closer to his, dipping his face into her hair and taking a giant sniff. Although it was obvious that she needed a shower after being flushed out of the salty sea, she still had her own scent she used to always have whenever Jay only concentrated on her smell. It was like strawberries and vanilla, sometimes even with blueberries.

However, only one person in the monastery owned a blueberry scented shampoo, so he knew exactly whenever she used his shampoo.

And it drove him crazy whenever she used his things. The good crazy, of course.

It meant for him that she felt comfortable with using her boyfriend's stuff, and he liked that a lot. It made him feel useful.

"How did you hold up while I was gone?"

Nya immediately mentally facepalmed after realizing what had just come out of her mouth. She asked him that because she herself wouldn't have been able to normally function without being with her boyfriend for more than a day.

But now it just sounded like an insult. An arrogant insult.

Jay sighed, stroking her hair. "Not well."

Nya looked back up at him, worry and regret clearly visible on her face.

He looked her in the eyes as he could swear they were watering. "But I got you back, that's all that matters." He added.

She nuzzled her face into his neck and enjoyed the way he was rubbing up and down her back. "I'm so sorry, Jay."

"Don't be. It was not under your control, don't blame yourself." He whispered soothingly.

She drew her face back to look at him. "But a whole year, Jay! That's a freaking lot." She looked down.

Jay smiled sadly. "I know, but that doesn't matter anymore."

"How's my brother? And the others?" She asked, realizing they weren't back home yet.

Jay had called a group meeting around twenty minutes ago, saying that he had important news. He wasn't sure if they would respond, though. It was the first time he had contacted them on his own.

"I..." Jay looked down. "I don't know, actually. I barely left my room." He laughed sadly, looking anywhere but at her.

This tightened the Water Ninja's throat. She might've had saved Ninjago practically all by herself, however the damage she had caused her own family was nearly unrepairable.

Without saying another word, she buried her head in the crook between Jay's shoulder and neck and started to sob her eyes out. Her arms were tightly wrapped around his neck, holding him while letting all the regret and pain flow out.

Jay, on the other hand, wrapped his arms tightly around her waist securely before trying to calm her down by whispering encouraging words into her ear.

"I'm s-so sorry." She said in-between of her sobs as she tried to somehow make the rivers stop streaming.

"Shh, it's all okay, Nya. No need to be sorry for."

"But-"

"No!"

"But Jay-"

"That's it!"

"Wha-"

In only one swift move, Jay managed to knock Nya on her back, gaining the upper hand as he hovered over her.

She looked up at him in shock and confusion.

Now was the wrong time to do something like that, right?

But then again, both had to have been craving for it for a long while now, and no one else was home, so-

"You'll stop apologizing!" He said sternly.

Nya blinked at him blankly. "Or what?"

Okay, now there was some playfulness behind her words as she couldn't help the light, sly smile appearing on her face.

Jay then moved in a way that he was sitting comfortably on her lower stomach. He looked down at her. "I'll tickle you."

"In what way?"

"Straight forward, I see."

Nya relaxed under him as she moved her hands under her head and stretched her elbows out, letting out a long breath. "What can I say, it's been a while."

A light blush appeared on her face as she watched as Jay leaned down to her face and stopped next to her ear. "We can't now, but there's always a later." He whispered before he slowly leaned back up.

She groaned slightly. "Why not now?"

Jay tsked. "Someone's impatient." He remarked. Then he chuckled. "The others should be here soon, and you know I'm not really into five-minute-"

"Jay!"

Both of their eyes widened as they heard their fellow friend, Lloyd, call out his name. Then they heard some footsteps in the distance.

"What are we gonna do?" Nya asked, looking up at her boyfriend.

"The right question is, how do you want to show yourself?" He smirked.

Nya knew that look, so she smiled back. "What do you have in mind."

"You could just straight up show yourself, or you could just scare the living hell out of them." He suggested.

Nya chuckled. "That would give them a heart attack, probably." Then she smirked back at him. "I love it."

Jay quickly climbed off of his girlfriend and let her sit up. "I'll get them to the living room and distract them long enough for you to find out how to scare them." He said before storming out of her room, leaving her smiling to herself.

The Blue Ninja ran down the corridor to hear faint talking noises coming from the living room. Before he walked inside, he made sure to be his best self; the weird self.

So he put his hands into his pockets and walked inside coolly.

Lloyd was the only one to be in his green gi, the rest of the guys were all dressed casually. Jay didn't know why, but he had a feeling that the Green Ninja was the only one to do crime fighting ever since their loss.

Zane and Lloyd were sitting on the beanbags as Kai was leaning against the frame of the couch. Cole was just standing around.

"What was so important that we had to be here?" Cole asked, sighing.

Jay laughed nervously, making Lloyd and Zane exchange side-eyed glances.

"Oh, just some news." He smiled.

Zane sighed. "Jay, are you sure you're feeling alright? Do you need a therapy session?"

"Nah, why would you assume that?" Jay asked Zane.

The Ice Ninja cleared his throat. "If someone has a great loss which can't be undone, they tend to cope in different ways. And laughing is one of the most used coping mechanisms, which has to be checked up on." He explained.

Lloyd listened to his friend carefully before looking at Jay. "You know, I know someone who might help you, Jay."

"Thanks, but no thanks." Jay waved his hand in front of himself. He was annoyed with their assumptions, but he couldn't blame them either.

Kai groaned. "Just tell us the news, Jay!"

"Okay, okay, jeez." The Master of Lightning slyly smiled. "Kai, Cole, you might wanna sit down for this one."

"Spill the beans, Jay!" Kai demanded.

Jay chuckled. "Well, I wanted to show you someone who you-"

"SURPRISE, MOTHERF—CKERS!"

The Blue Ninja turned around to see his girlfriend sliding behind the door to the living room from side to side, wearing a pair of black sunglasses. She accidentally missed the doorframe and just slid away.

She then caught herself before she could hit the floor and stumbled into the living room. "Guess who's back!" She yelled while taking off her sunglasses. The Water Elemental stopped next to her boyfriend, looking at everyone in the room.

Everyone just stared back at her in shock, their mouths open as many questions must have been flying through their heads.

Nya and Jay side-eyed each other before she opened her mouth again. "Uhh, boo?"

Just then, Kai fainted and hit the floor, hard.

Nya quickly ran up to her brother and started to lightly slap him. "Kai? Kai!" Then she turned towards Jay who was right behind her, looking down at his fellow friend. "We really should've done something more... subtle." Jay nodded in agreement, smiling sheepishly.

"Nya?" Cole whispered, disbelieving.

Said girl looked towards the Earth Elemental and stood up, smiling. "Hey, Cole."

Then she saw tears dripping down his cheeks. Her own eyes widened before she approached him with open arms. He immediately wrapped his arms around her and cried softly into her hair.

After they pulled away again, Nya lightly punched his shoulder. "What happened to Rocky Boi?" She asked teasingly.

Cole sniffled as he looked away, scratching his biceps. "He's missed you."

Before Nya could respond to him, she felt another weight on her. She opened her eyes to see Lloyd hugging her tightly while crying into her shoulder.

"Hey, Greenie." She said as she wrapped her arms around his torso.

Lloyd coughed in-between of his sobs, making it clear for her that he wanted to be hugged for a bit longer, so she let him. She rubbed his back soothingly.

After he pulled away, the Green Ninja hastily wiped his tears away with his open palms. "How did you-, when did you-, how?!" He blurted out.

Nya chuckled. "I'll explain everything later." She then turned to her side to see the Master of Ice walking up to her.

She opened her arms to embrace one of her two favorite Nindroids.

The hug was rather short, yet still meaningful for both of them.

"You have been greatly missed, Nya." Zane said, smiling.

Nya smiled back at him before looking at everyone in the room. "Believe me when I say I've missed all of you too. It was... an emotional roller coaster, being alone all the time." She sighed before looking back at her unconscious brother on the floor.

She looked at Zane. "Zane, could you please scan him?"

The Nindroid nodded and made his way over to the Fire Ninja. He quickly scanned him up and down and sighed. "He should wake up shortly, there's no need for worries. The news must have shocked him, hard." He informed everyone.

"Talking about news, when exactly did you-" Cole started, looking at his best friend who cut his words.

"Well, I was called to the police station because they found someone flushed onto the beach, and the commissioner told me that he tried to contact y'all too, but I was the only one to answer. And when I got there, it was actually Nya. And when I tell you I was shocked, that'd be an understatement." He chuckled. "The thing is that she had lost her memory, though, so she didn't know who I was."

"How did you regain your memory?" Zane asked Nya.

Jay then chuckled as he slung an arm around her shoulders. "The power of love, Tin Can."

Nya raised an eyebrow playfully at her boyfriend, smiling.

Just then, they could hear some faint grunts coming from the ground. Everyone looked down to see Kai stirring.

Nya pried herself off of her boyfriend and walked up to her brother and knelt down to his level.

Kai slowly opened his eyes, looking at the others while holding his head. "Ugh, I've had another nightmare, guys."

"And what happened in it?" Nya asked.

The Fire Ninja then turned towards his sister and sat up. "You ran inside and screamed 'surprise-" Kai's eyes widened. Then he turned to Lloyd. "Lloyd, slap me!"

"Nah." Lloyd smirked at Nya, putting his hands into his front pockets.

"Cole, then you're the lucky one to slap me because I'm seeing things again." Kai panicked.

Nya then held her brother's shoulders tightly and made him turn to her. "Bro, it is me. Your most beautiful, wonderful, perfect, non-watery sister. Aka the better sibling." She smiled, seeing his eyes widen.

"Nya?" Kai reached for his sister's cheek, only to feel nothing but solid skin. "Is it really you?" He whispered, tears escaping his brown eyes.

"I mean, I just said that-"

Kai suddenly hugged his sister very tightly, making her make some squeaky noises. Nonetheless, she smiled and hugged him back with equal force.

"I've mis-sed you so m-much!" He said, making her pout at her brother's words.

She had been sure that Jay and Kai would've been the ones to be affected by her being gone the most, however the reality was harsher than she had anticipated.

"I missed you too, porcupine." She teased, only for him to tighten his already tight embrace. "O-Okay, Kai, can't... breathe."

He let go of her and laughed, making her laugh as well. Nya then helped Kai up from the ground before she looked at the others.

"Where are Pix and Master Wu?"

"They're out, crime fighting right now. They should be back in about ten minutes, though." Lloyd answered.

Jay then came up from behind Nya and wrapped his arms around her waist from behind. He smirked. "How about we reuse some of our antics on them?"

Ahem, I know that you might be wondering about why I haven't written about how she turned back into her human form. And, hehe, let's just say I am currently working on a certain post-Seabound book. However, I do have a lot of other projects I'm also currently working on, so I don't really know when I'll publish it, and PLEASE TELL ME I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE TO BE THIS UNORGANIZED.

Anyways, would you be up for that book?
