EL AMOR TODO LO PUEDE.
(love can do anything.)

_______________

HE CLASPED ON PROFOUNDLY onto the wrinkled letters in hand, staring off into space.

his dear mother; unaware of who she actually was, aside from being the heir of the previous master of lightning, never knew how mesmerizing her writing was.

but even someone oblivious would notice the slight alterations in her writing; almost lifeless.

unfortunately, he found himself in a continuous maze of unquestionable answers leading him to his short filled demise.

this hasn't told him anything about his parents' decision towards leaving him nor does it cover the fact why lying seems to be the easier option in this situation.

he was lied to for so many years; so many years beneath his nose stored away from him.

when jay wanted to know why he felt almost forced to content with himself, so out of place from his parents, he didn't think his elderly parents were never actually his biological parents.

and for a moment, jay; the master of lightning, the mouth of lightning, was at a loss for words.

the silence brought him to his knees, incarcerated under the quietness.

jay could still hear the beguiling voice, "YOUR WISH IS YOURS TO KEEP," as the djinn had granted what the boy desired most; to impress the girl he fallen for, and fortune.

but what exactly was his to keep?

the trauma he endured imprisoned aboard misfortunes keep for months, waiting hopelessly for someone to rescue him? or that silky-voiced-seducer's desperation run thin, waiting for jay to 'wish it away'?

the buried treasure hidden beneath the pirates, the mouse between the trap, the lemon freshly squeezed in tall pitcher — jay became the victim beneath the djinn.

the devil with a deal to bargain for every 'i wish.'

"I WISH IT ALL AWAY!" they screamed, as their most penniless desires opposed against them into a nightmare within seconds.

he wondered across his room, thinking of any possibilities, anything that could possibly bring him closer towards a reasoning why either one abandoned him in a junkyard on the front doorsteps of an elderly couple's trailer located outside of Ninjago City, known as The Sea of Sand.

master wu — SON OF THE FIRST SPINJITZU MASTER wasnt any guidance unfortunately towards finding the answers he was looking for.

he may have lived through much of ninjago's history, he could not remember a considerable amount about the previous master of lightning; well, aside from her role in the Serpentine War.

he asked if there were possibly any pictures, any belongings, anything she had possessed before his mother disappeared and to his surprise, there was.

jay looked astonished — while visiting his father's mansion, there weren't the slightest photos nor a trace of his mother hanged on any walls in the bedrooms or behind any photo frames, only photos of random women between the framing of his variety mirror.

amongst the photo were two familiar younger faces jay identified as Ray and Maya; the previous elemental masters of fire and water.

Kai and Nya's parents, standing proudly amongst the previous elemental masters, and beside their mother was a brightly blonde-headed woman dressed in blue.

though, he hadn't thought of it but these people captured in this photo were the previous elemental masters before the next generation would inherited their powers and were now elemental masters themselves training under Master Wu.

FIRE, WATER, EARTH, ICE, LIGHTNING, AND ENERGY were the main protectors of ninjago.

jay had to know — no, he needed to know wanting so desperately to know the reasoning behind his mother's disappearance and why she so easily let him slip through her fingers, in hopes for a better future.

but she wasn't as worst as his father — Cliff Gordon.

the man jay once adored, unfortunate thanks to his 'younger brother' who effortlessly got him into Starfarer and the intergalactic rogue persona of Cliff Gordon, Fritz Donnegan fractured into a shattered  display of displeasure after realizing how inconsiderate the man was, only thinking of himself.

a womanizer, might he add.

a philanderer who reeked of misogyny, a man of riches and good looks who relied too deliberately on his fictional personas.

enough about him, because if he continued any longer blabbering a dead man's name to his grave, he would eventually feel his elemental power humming throughout him.

he placed the photo of his biological parents between the framing of a nearby mirror, glancing slightly at his features.

from the freckles lightly dotted across his cheeks, to his authentic blue eyes, to his curly auburn hair — he could almost see a clear resemblance; almost.

he was the son of the most famous actor in ninjago, the heir made for cameras, and front page magazines.

but nobody was aware, nor assumed the first.

the only role jay would play was being one of the six main protectors of ninjago.

and if he were being completely honest, if he was given another chance to start over, he'd take it.

below the newly placed photo between the framing, was another picture of him and his beloved yang, nya — holding their medallions together.

oh how the boy could go on, and on about his yang. from her beauty to her features that stood out, the boy drowned in the waters surrounding the girl.

nya was the master of water, daughter of ray and maya, student of master wu, the younger sibling of kai — master of fire, and as said before jay's yang.

her parents shortly disappeared after her 3rd birthday without a trace, nor a possible lead towards their sudden disappearance.

it almost seemed impossible for them to just.. vanish within thin air, without a word.

nya once spoken after her parents' disappearance, she could never live normally without receiving looks as the people often whispered behind their backs.

"i heard her parents abandoned them because of how miserable they were," nya would refer towards peoples' remarks as 'stabs to the back.'

without healing, she would bleed to their accusations.

jay often recalled stories of just him and her resting one of their heads on the other's chest, lying on their backs on another's bed as they would talk about anything that could bring them possibly any closer.

_______________

"NO MORE SECRETS," jay lifted his hand, holding his pinky finger towards nya.

"please, nya," he pleaded, "promise me, you won't keep anymore secrets from me."

"i don't want what happened in our previous relationship to happen again."  jay leaned his lips against her hand, circling his thumb around her knuckles.

"i can never seem to understand you," she laughed, jay titling his head in pandemonium.

"i was such an idiot," jay had wanted to laugh, the aurora lingered of temptation as "i think we both knew that," caught his tongue.

"im sorry i was never an easy person to love," jay had laughed as nya titled her head in confusion.

"who said i wanted easy? i dont crave easy, i crave difficulty my dear." the shade of light pink colored nyas cheeks, as jay smiled.

"i crave complexity; the level of difficulty, providing players a moment of change in strategy."

"those levels of complexity changes the person behind the player towards achieving their goal, whether that objective to obtain maybe a finish line, or a flag signaling in the distance," jay started waving their hands, im comparison towards his earlier statement softly yelling "you win!"

"youre in control of who you are, whether this virtual reality identifies your character as 'the girl ninja,' or 'the master of water,' its dependent on your cognitive process."

"youre in control," persisted in her mind, oh how she yearned for this moment for someone to say those very words.

she eventually hooked her pinky around his, locking their finger together.

"i promise."

jay was a man of his words; with every promise he made, turned into origami butterflies.
