6.03 New City's Citizens

Jim put on his hood as he walked out of the building. He was a misfit dressed like that in the New City and it would be rather difficult for him to hide in plain sunlight. He was lucky enough that nobody there actually paid any attention at all to who was walking by him. Everyone had nothing in mind but to keep up with their tight schedules. There was no time or attention left for anything and anyone that wouldn't provide them a chance to gain something. New City was built by people decided to go after humanity's full potential.

There was no government. There were no laws, religions or any formal type of relationships. Every citizen was a productive society's member, enjoying the luxuries that the City had to offer. Nothing seemed impossible there. People were working hard to turn the impossible into an experience. They were thriving in science, arts and education. It was human's heaven on earth but there's always a little catch.

Every citizen was entitled to anything that the City had to offer in case he had a job. As long as the employee showed up on time, was devoted and necessary to the company, he enjoyed access to every part of the City. The truth was that there wasn't much time left after working long hours since he had to go on exceeding expectations so most of them used only one path daily; from house to work and then straight back to sleep.

The few, who were overconfident and tried to paint the town red, were fired on the spot. Unemployment was equal to falling from grace. Citizenship was revoked and they had to leave town. They eventually became either Outcasts or Lost Souls in order to survive.

So no one would ever pay attention to Jim walking in plain sight jeopardizing his place on the New City.

Jim was safe there, at least for the moment.
