Eden opened her eyes as people were taking her out of the tank in a rush, removing her intubation tube. They covered her with towels, checking her vitals.

"You are operating on your slave drive now. Your master hardware is offline because you are compromised. I had to upload your training all over again and implant a bridge while you were in a septic shock. I wouldn't bring you back unless I was certain that it was safe." Faceless told Eden as he stood in front of her.

" Safe for whom? For you or for me?" Eden asked him.

"It had to be safe for both of us."

"Why should it be safe for me? You are fully equipped to bring me back."

" Can you be certain of how many times have I brought you back already?" Faceless asked her.

Eden leaned her back on the chair.

" So I guess that's the point where you show me something and I lose control. Bring it on."  She threw the towel on the floor. "I am ready."

" We will find out soon enough my Luv" Faceless said and tuned every screen at the room at the same video."

" The night your glitch appeared you were on a mission. Something went horribly wrong yet your recording system sends your report in real time to the main computer. Faceless sat on a chair next to her watching and narrating the video to Eden.

"Your mission was to kill Ed. You complied with this order. This is you walking to his apartment. You get into the apartment. Ed shows up. He seems surprised. You take out your gun. You hesitate. He takes your gun and throws it on the floor. You take a closer look to the gun to find out at whom it's aiming. "Shoot between the eyes." Ed says. Your grab the gun and you shoot as you were trained. You are leaving his apartment and you are on your way back to your apartment... and this is what happened. Ed's body is here and I can assure that it's circumcised. You can check every tiny detail you wish for."

"There is no need to do that. If I make the slightless move to check if your story is right, you will reboot me in an instant. This wasn't the glitch. There has been only one glitch in my system and this is us... my Luv" Eden grinned to Faceless without even turning her head towards him.

"I am you. You are me. Both programs are executed at the same time. Since we are having this conversation now and I neither have full access to your data nor I want to eliminate you that can only mean that the Janus protocol was successful and stage one is officially completed.

Janus is recording two places at a time, controlling two different environments, making decisions as separate people in real time.

We are ready to initiate phase two. Divide Janus in time sharing one consciousness at two different time frames.

Faceless turned into Ed and then into Ofiss who told Eden.

"Are you sure you want to do this? We can stay in that limbo for as long as we decide."

"You know that we have to do this."

"Why?"

"To set the one who was left behind, free." Eden answered Ofiss.

"You can't offer what you don't have."

"We are water my Luv... and I would love some alcohol in that water right not. Wouldn't you?" Eden smiled to Ofiss.

"you know, I are mad" said Ofiss and turned back into Ed and then into Eden.

"all the best people are. Ssss. It's our secret." Eden whispered and placed her finger in front of her lips.

Janus opened her eyes. She was back at the lab.
