1.01 Eden.
She looked at herself in the mirror. Blood was coming out of her right ear, running down to her neck. He put her fingers on it and took a closer look at them. There was no fluid in it, so no bone fracture was involved. Someone would probably say that she was lucky considering what happened but she didn't believe in anything that her perception couldn't control.
She washed her ear and her neck but little drops of blood kept on appearing. The headache was severe but pain had never been an obstacle. On the other hand she wouldn't stand minimizing her hearing. She put a towel on her ear and turned back to her living room. There was no furniture in there, only identical cupboards with no sing about their content.
She opened one, took out a vial of nanobots and went on the refrigerator that was disguised as a cupboard as well. She looked at the petri dishes, picked up the one that was ready, took a syringe and transferred the proper amount of nanobots to the stem cells cultivations. She set the alarm clock to go off in two hours and put the petri dish back to the refrigerator.
She went back and stood in the centre of the room. She touched her left temple with her left wrist and a code of holograms appeared in front of her. Despite her being a genetically modified human, the constant abuse of her skills made technology essential part of her survival. A genetic bank of stem cells combined with a special collection of nanobots assembled as bacteria-based controlled by electromagnetic fields, others as virus-based to keep her genetic code stable and a dozen more that officially were yet to be discovered, was lying in the dark and silence of her cupboards.
Her grey eyes weren't actually grey but she chose that color as a reminder of the fact that cyber lenses were implanted, enabling her to have immediate access to any device with a chip on it. She was moving inside the battlefield's hologram, reassessing the parameters of her wound. There was definitely a glitch in her system which she had to find and fix before it became a Trojan horse that could take her systems down.
As she was moving among the dead bodies, with her ear bleeding and her hearing compromised she failed to notice, a crow flying towards her till the moment that it hit her on the head with his beak. She fell on the floor losing consciousness, while her exoskeleton was assembling to protect her.

Special thanks to @Nyhterides for making time to do a rough editing at the story's intro. She's a true gem!
