Prom?
High school AU
Prom.
An exciting night in any teenager's life. A night full of dancing, romance, and celebrating your high school years.
For Anthony, prom was always a nightmare looming in the future. As a person who didn't have a girlfriend until his junior year, Anthony never imagined himself going to prom. He thought he would end up alone in his room while all his friends were dancing with their dates. Or, bringing a girl he barely knew, only for her to go home with someone else.
But when Jasmine came into Anthony's life in the summer between junior and senior year, things began to look up.
Jasmine. The perfect girl.
Anthony had been in love from the moment he laid eyes on her. Now, as prom rapidly approached, he needed a way to ask his girlfriend out.
"Hey babe!" Jas said, sneaking up behind him and planting a kiss on his neck. Anthony shut his locker and turned to face her.
"Hi beautiful." He rested his hands on her waist while she wrapped her arms around his shoulders. They pressed their noses together.
"You doing anything after school?" Anthony asked. Jas nodded.
"I have singing lessons at 4 but you can come over for dinner," she said. He grinned.
"Okay see you later." Anthony kissed Jasmine's forehead lovingly before heading to math class.
----
School ended, and Anthony hurried to his car, his friends Daveed and Oak following close behind. They hopped in his car and sped away from the hell-hole called high school.
"So," Daveed started, "You gonna tell us what we're doing here?"
"I need your help." Anthony didn't say anything for the rest of the ride, letting Oak and Daveed talk excitedly about next weeks baseball game.
They arrived at the party store about ten minutes later.
"Ok what is going on?" Oak asked, staring at his friend with a confused look on his face.
"I'm asking Jas to prom and I need some balloons. I got the idea from when we watched Up last week," Anthony explained. He marched off towards the building, checking his watch. It was only 3:16, so they had time, but Anthony walked quickly, Daveed and Oak jogging to keep up.
"I need thirty helium balloons. Red, green, yellow, and blue," he said when he reached the counter. The girl looked at him with a slightly confused face, then nodded and busied herself with filling the multi-colored balloons.
The wait seemed to take forever though it probably only lasted ten minutes. Anthony passed the time by pacing back and forth in front of the counter or standing against the wall, tapping his foot nervously.
When the balloons were finished, they each grabbed ten and carried them back to Anthony's car.
"How the hell are we supposed to fit everything in here?" Oak asked, staring at the small vehicle.
They managed to jam all the balloons into the trunk and back seat of the car, only popping three. Oak and Daveed squeezed themselves in and they drove off again.
They arrived at Jasmine's house at around 3:45 and began to set up.
----
"Thank you so much!" Jas exclaimed as she walked out of her voice couches house. She checked her phone. 4:50. If I speed, I can be home by 5. She jumped in her car and raced home.
As she pulled into the driveway, Jasmine noticed something different about her house. And by something different, she meant that there were like fifty balloons tied to the posts on her front porch.
She stepped out off the car and looked at the front door with, furrowing her eyebrows in confusion. On cue, Anthony stepped out of the front door, holding a bouquet of flowers and sign, which was flipped around so Jas couldn't read it.
"Hey Ant!" she exclaimed. Anthony held her hand up as a signal for her to stay where she is. He flipped the sign around.
"Are you UP for prom?" Jas read out loud. She laughed. "You're a dork." Anthony looked at her, waiting for an answer. "Of course I am, idiot." She ran up and crashed her lips into his, causing him to drop both the sign and the flowers.
"I love you," I whispered into his lips. He hummed happily.
"I love you too."
It's literally been so long since I updated that the person who suggested this prompt actually deleted their account.
I'm so sorry it always takes so long for me to update. It's just I have a lot of stuff going on right now.
If you have any suggestions comment them. I'm not promising they'll happen quickly but they will happen.
Also, I didn't edit this! Just don't have much time sorry!
Have a great day!
