We took the short way back to the house after our date which was a big mistake.
"James." I said holding his hand tighter then before.
"Yes?"
"I don't like this." We were now in a dark alleyway.
"We'll be home in a few minutes." He comforted me.
"Ok ok, but don't let go of me." I said and he nodded. I heard someone behind us, I turned around to see a man with a gun.
"James." I said with a shaky voice while stopping in my tracts.
"We're almost there, babe." He said, turning around to see me staring at the man.
"Get behind me." He said and I did so while still keeping my eyes on the man.
"What do you want?" James asked. The man just stood there with his gun pointed right at James.
"Let's just go." I suggested.
"Don't move." The man said.
"Then what the fuck do you want?" I asked as tears started to fall from my eyes.
"Here." James said while throwing all the cash he had at him.
"I don't want your money." The man said.
"Then what do you..." James started to say but stopped when the man fired his gun. James fell on his knees.
"James!" I yelled as he fell the rest of the way down on the ground. He held his chest. I quickly took my jacket off and held it where the blood was coming from.
"Stay with me, ok?" I said as I took one of his hands into mine.
"Help!" I screamed
"I'm not going to make it." He said before coughing up blood.
"Yes you will, don't give up. I need you here with me. I need to marry you, to have our kids and grow old with you." I said as I started to cry harder then before.
"I love you." He said before closing his eyes.
"No, open your eyes. James!" I screamed.
"Help!" I screamed. Two boys came running at me. It was Jai and Beau.
"What happened?" Beau asked as he raced over to James.
"A... A man shot him." I stuttered. Beau tried waking up James, but it didn't work. Jai came over to me and held me there.
"He's dead." Beau said after a minute.
"He can't be." I said as I cried into Jai. After a few minutes the ambulance came.
"Ma'am we need to check and see if your ok." A man said
"I'm fine, can we go now?" I asked Beau.
"Yeah." He said as he helped me walk to the house.
The man was never found and I never felt the same about anyone else like I did about James.
