Tears Pt. 2

I'm all in for angst, are you?

3rd POV

Thomas walked down the hall towards his and Alex's dorm. A bouquet of flowers in one hand and something else in the pocket. He was secretly nervous about his whole plan, had James told Alex? Thomas hoped he didn't.

Thomas got to the door and took a deep breath before walking in. "Lexi hun?"

"Tommy! Glad to hear you're back" Thomas smiled and walked towards Alex's voice. Alex emerged from the kitchen and Thomas went in for a hug and kiss when Alex shoved a piece of paper in his chest.

"Before we get our anniversary started, I just wanted you to read something"

Normally, Thomas wouldn't be concerned but deep down he knew something was wrong. Alex's smile seemed strained and the kind look in his eyes wasn't there.

Thomas took the paper and silently read over it. "Lexi I can explai-"

"Save it Jefferson, I already talked to James and forgave him. You, however, no" Alex glared at Thomas with the same hatred he had at the beginning of the year. When they were still enemies.

"Please let me exp-"

"I said NO! I don't want to hear your excuses of why you fucking cheated on me Jefferson"

Thomas frowned and dropped the flowers as Alex when off to go retrieve the article that started their whole relationship. "When did you start thinking I wasn't enough, huh? When did you stop loving me like the way you did back then?"

Alex stomped past Thomas with the jacket and picked up the scissors that were sitting on the counter. "Lexi please!"

"Don't call me Lexi, you don't deserve that privilege" Alex began cutting at the jacket, taking whatever anger he had out on the jacket instead of Thomas. Thomas rushed over and tried to get Alex to stop but only received a harsh slap to the face and the jacket thrown at him.

Alex stomped past Thomas. "We're done Jefferson, don't talk to me again. Ever"

Thomas choked out a sob and grabbed Alex's wrist, spinning the boy around. While Alex looked as angry as ever, he had a stream of tears rolling down his cheeks.

"What are you doin-" Alex let out a gasp and nearly stumbled back as he faced Thomas, who was on one knee, holding a beautiful ring in his hand.

"Lexi please! I know what I did was wrong but I want to make things right" Thomas secretly pleaded that this would work, he loved Alex yet all he had done to show for it was have an affair with another.

What a great way to show love.

"T-Thomas I.." Alex carefully took the ring and inspected it despite the wave of tears flowing down his cheeks. Oh how he wanted to say yes so badly. Forget all that had happened and make a new start.

But,

That's what Thomas would want. He wanted Alex to put trust in him again. Why? Probably to break him even more than he already was, Alex assumed.

He wasn't going to let it happen again.

That sadness changed to rage quickly within Alex.

"I-I...I can't Thomas" Thomas' hopeful look fell as Alex continued. "This relationship was supposed to be built on love and trust. You have proven to me that it lacks both. How am I supposed to forgive you when I can barely forgive myself for something I didn't even do!" Alex hissed, sending Thomas a cold glare.

"I truly loved you Thomas, I let those walls of trust fall because of you and this is how you respond? Everyday I told myself I wasn't good enough, I wasnt enough for him" Alex took a sharp breath to compose himself.

"It looks to me that you proved those statements right"

"Le-"

"I don't want to hear it Thomas. Like I said, we're done and that's final" Alex threw the ring back at Thomas and it fell to the ground, making a small sound in the midst of the silence. Alex whipped around and stormed off, out of the dorm.

And just like how Thomas had left Alex in tears, Alex left Thomas to sob as he stomped off. Not looking back.

Bonus

The door freaked open and someone crept in, a hoodie over their head. They looked around, noticing the bottles that littered the floor. That's not important right now.

They took a deep inhale and continued on, heading to the kitchen and searching the floors for something.

They choked back a sob and put a hand over their mouth to muffle the sob as they looked over the ring. Oh how beautiful it was. It could've held such a beautiful connotation to it, but instead it only reminded them of the heartbreak they had to experience.

"I'm helpless..." Alex muttered as he held the ring close, tears rolling down his cheeks.
