Beat 'em up

Lucifer sat on the couch, reading his life away, waiting for Jamie to get home from his class that morning. Lucifer had never read much before, but Jamie kept coming up with books he should read, so he decided to give it a try. As it turned out, he didn't hate it as much as he assumed he would. In fact, he was really into this particular book - Misery by Stephen King. Jamie really knew his boyfriend.

Lucifer had just finished another chapter when the apatment door opened and Jamie walked in. Lucifer could immediately tell something was wrong. Jamie was slouching, and he entered quietly, something he'd never done before. Lucifer dropped his book and stood up.

"Jamie? What's wrong?" Lucifer asked, rushing over to his boyfriend, who smiled softly at him, dumping his backpack next to the door.

"Hey Kitty," he said. "I'm fine, I just had a bit of a rough day." Lucifer crossed his arms.

"What happened?" He asked. Jamie rubbed his arm.

"Just some guys talking," he muttered. Lucifer felt his blood start to boil just thinking about what might have happened.

"What did they say?" He demanded, stepping closer to Jamie. Jamie looked up at him and gave him a quick kiss.

"Nothing, don't worry about it. I really will be fine, Luci," he said, giving his most convincing big grin. It wasn't convincing.

"Jamie, you aren't fine. Tell me who and what, so I know who to kill and why. I will rip their heads off," Lucifer growled. Jamie shook his head.

"Lucifer, no, okay? I'll be fine, and I don't want you to get in trouble. You almost went to jail last time," Jamie said, taking Lucifer's hand and pulling him over to the couch. "I appreciate how willing you are to defend me, but I also appreciate being able to talk to you without several inches of glass in between us." Lucifer sat down next to Jamie grudgingly.

"Fine. For you. But will you at least tell me what they said?" He asked. Jamie sighed in exhasperation.

"Please just let it go!" He exclaimed.

"No, I won't!" Lucifer shouted back. "I don't like people saying things about you, is that so wrong?"

"It wasn't about me!" Jamie screamed. Lucifer fell stone silent, confused. Jamie seemed to settle, looking regretful.

"What?" Lucifer asked. "If it wasn't about you, then..."

"They were talking about you. They said that I was a fool for believing you could be anything but harmful, they said you were awful, they said if I kept going I'd be on the news as the unsuspecting boyfriend who never saw the murder coming. They said... They said so many awful things..." A tear leaked out of Jamie's eye as he stared at his sweater sleeve and Lucifer stared at him in shock.

"But... You're so upset... I... You think they're right, don't you?" He asked, feeling his heart sink. Jamie looked up at him.

"What? Lucifer, of course I don't think that! I'm upset because... Because I love you, and I wish they could see why!" Jamie said. Lucifer blinked.

"You... You don't... You aren't afraid of me?" He asked. Jamie scoffed quietly.

"Of course I'm not afraid of you. You're my Kitty," he said, smiling at Lucifer. Lucifer smiled back.

"Now can I hug you or what?" Jamie asked. Lucifer chuckled.

"Okay. Sure," he said. Jamie grinned and tackle hugged Lucifer against the couch.

"I love you," he said.

"I love you too. Dork."
