A rumor,that is what started all this nonsense. A simple little lie told by one woman to cover up her own misdeeds, almost cost one man everything. You see Thomas Cromwell is secretary to King Henry Viii and a family friend of Queen Ann Boleyn and in good favour with the king,that is until the king learns of the rumor.

King Henry sat on his chair talking with the Spanish ambassador about an alignment with Spain,when Charles Brandon Duke of Suffolk appeared
"Charles" the king greets his friend,the ambassador bows to the men and then leaves the room
"Majesty I come bearing some bad news" Charles says
"Go on"
"I have heard of a rumor going around court,about a secret affair between two people at court" Charles says.

"What does this have to do with me?" The king asks
"The rumor is about your wife Queen Ann and..Mr secretary Cromwell" Charles finished
"Its not true,plenty of people at court despise Ann" the King says
"That may be so majesty, but there are times when neither Cromwell nor the Queen can be found" Charles adds.

The king thinks this over,he has been wanting to leave his marriage to Ann for sometime and this could be what he needs
"Bring Cromwell to me."

Else where

An unsuspecting Thomas Cromwell has returned back to Whitehall after leaving a few hours previously,having left someone in charge he trusts,he can know get back to his duties,but will still worry about her.

Thomas reached his office and sat down at his desk,there is a large amount of papers waiting for him. Before Thomas set to work on the papers, his mind wondered back to the lady he had just left. If nothing goes wrong he wouldn't need to leave court so much again,no one suspected anyhow and that is how it should be. Between him self and the lady, Thomas picked up the first paper and began to read it.

He had only read half of page when someone cleared there throat. Thomas looked up from the paper and saw the Duke of Suffolk
"Can I help your grace with something?" Thomas asks
"The king wishes to see you Cromwell" the Duke says,two guards in red enter the room and drag Thomas out
"What is the meaning of this?" Thomas asked, but none answered him.

Thomas is taken all the way to a room where the King is waiting for him. The guards force him to his knees in front of the King
"Mr Cromwell, do you know why you are hear?" The king asks
"No majesty" Thomas says,the Duke says
"It has come to our attention that you Mr secretary leave court,several times a week without telling anyone where you go"

"I have a very good reason to leave" Thomas tells them
"FUCKING MY WIFE ISN'T A GOOD REASON"the king shouts
"Majesty I..." Thomas tries
"YOU WILL SPEAK WHEN I FUCKING TELL YOU TO" the king shouts again"You are a friend of the Boleyn family? "The king asks this time calmer.

"Yes"
"You leave court and don't tell anyone where you go" the king continued
"Yes"
"At these times,the Queen is also not to be found" Thomas looks confused at this
"So Mr Cromwell, do you deny this rumor?"the king demands
"I do majesty" Thomas says.

"Prove it" the duke says
"I can but I need to bring someone here" Thomas says
"No you will stay,someone else will go" the king says. Thomas gives an address to the kings guard to collect who is needed. A short while later the two guards return with a heavily pregnant woman with them.

"Leave us" the king said to the guards"Who is this?"the king asks Thomas
"My wife Y/n" Thomas says
"Can someone tell me what is going on?" Y/n asks
"It has been said Madame that your husband, is having an affair with the Queen" the duke tells her.

"That is nonsense" Y/n says
"Then why does Cromwell disappear so much and the Queen can't be found either?" The king asks,Y/n looks to her husband and a silent word passed between them
"As you can see majesty I am with child,Thomas is the father and he leaves this court because..."Y/n says
"Because our first child was stillborn" Thomas finished.

The room goes silent as the king thinks
"You never said your wife is with child?" The duke says
"We chose to not announce the pregnancy, in case something went wrong" Thomas says
"In that case Mr secretary,you are forgiven for leaving without saying why" the king begins"Your wife shall stay at court until the child is born,where she will be looked after by my own doctor "

"Thank you majesty"Y/n says
"Now Thomas get your wife into bed" the king tells him
"But majesty, that is how I got in this condition in the first place" Y/n says,making the king laugh and making Thomas blush
"Your wife is a good woman,I like her. Look after her Thomas" the king tells him
"I shall majesty."
