I had just put Thea down when Neal stormed in. I shushed and scowled at him

"Quiet. I just but Thea down. What's going on?" I fold my arms as he breathed deeply

"We need to talk. And your gonna be really mad." he replied. Oh no, here we go again.

"I will get you some wine and make mine a tea" I groan going into the kitchen and putting the kettle on. Once the drinks were made and poured, we sat at the dining table. "Okay what did you do?"

"Before I start will you at least hear the full story before you rip me a new one." I shrug. Not confirming that I would he sighed  "My last option. Peters hearing was coming up and I couldn't find my father, I couldn't find a way to prove he was there and Peter was innocent. My options were running out. That was until I was approached by Hagan." he began

"As in the Dutchman that got you here?" he nodded

"He has the Federal prosecutor in is pocket and the job was simply I steal something for him in exchange the Prosecutor accepts the fake recording of my father confessing to his actual crime. The heist of coins that was taken from the vault through the travel agency, that was me."

"Oh my god." I breathed

"There's more. It was a trap, I didn't figure that out till later and when I did it was too late. Hagan said that if I didn't do what he'd ask, I would go back to jail and I can't not with you and Thea here. So I've been doing jobs for him. The gallery heist."

"Didn't they arrest someone for that?" I wonder

"A smoke screen so I could steal a chapter out of a very valuable book. A copy was made before the hand off. The place were i gave Hagan what he wanted was near where Seigal was found. Mozzie and I have been trying to crack Chapter 13 of Mosconni's codex the only one of it's kind. And we were getting no where till I brought it Rebecca Lowe. She worked at the Gallery and I used her ID to get in and for that she lost her job which was not my intention. I've been lying to her and working her in an attempt to get ahead of Hagen and somehow stop him so I can protect the both of you and Peter. But now Peter thinks that I'm cheating on you." he explained and I sat there in stunned silence

"Please say something."

"Your and idiot" were my first words "You are an idiot. Neal when I said you'd find a way I mean legally. Use what being a CI has taught you but not this." I groan in frustration

"why is you have the best intentions but the worst methods. Neal your in serious trouble and you need to tell Peter." I tell him

"If I do that he will have no choice but to send me back to jail. Kara I'm not leaving you or Thea. I can't because this time it would be forever." I sink in my chair

"Day's, Days like this. Moments like this you make me regret how i feel Neal Caffrey." i grumble "Why tell me? Why tell me now or at all, you know what this means"

"I'm telling my girlfriend the truth Not the FBI Agent a confession."

"They're one in the same Neal. I'm not retired I'm on maternity leave I'm still apart of the bureau." I whisper yell

"Everything I did was under duress. I wouldn't risk this for nothing. Kara please." I stood up and he copied.

"Why do you do this? Just why?" he pulled me into his embrace

-3RD Person-

Kara had fallen asleep after the nights events and Neal was pacing once more. He then decided to do something crazy and ask Rebecca to meet him. The next day they did and were walking through a park.

"Rebecca there is something i need to say." he started

"Is it why you ran out last night?"

"Yeah and it's the truth. I'm trusting you with this because if  I might lose everything." he  gathered his thoughts "I'm not an Agent for the FBI I'm a criminal informant" he lifted up his trouser leg showing his anklet"

"What?"

"Someone a bad man is threatening my family, my new life that I made for the window mascconi installed. And if I don't do what he says the thought of what could happen terrifies me. I used you to try and get ahead of him so that I could stop him." Rebecca backed away

"But I went to your offices I worked with your boss"

"Peter Burke is actually my boss. Look everything I've done is not to hurt you or anyone else it was to protect."
